Surgery In Two Days... "nesting" - Anyone Else Doing This?
My surgery is in 2 days as well. I've done dishes, swept the house, 4 loads of laundry, and dusted. Yep I'm nesting too. Making bean and ham soup tomorrow and pudding. Oh my goodness!

Feeling lost :(
I lost my mom in 2004 when I was 32 years old. She passed away of heart disease at the age of 59. I still think about her every day. She is a huge reason I'm having this surgery. She got to see all 7 of her grandchildren born before she passed. I want to be able to see my grandchildren born and grow up and maybe even some great grand kids too. My hope is in The Lord and His grace is enough. I pray for healing for you and your family.

Help For A Newbie! Pre Op Diet.
I'm on day 11 of 3-4 protein shakes per day and the rest clear fluids, sugar free and fat free. Lots of water. The first 3 days were the hardest. I gave up diet soda after 30 years, cold turkey. The headaches get better. Hang in there. My pre op is 2 weeks long and I've lost 14 lbs so far.

Daily Protein, Sugar, Fat Goals/limits
I'm pre op and currently 54% protein, 28% carbs and 18% protein. I'm losing weight and I hope to continue those numbers after surgery but with real food.

I'm Scared of My Pre-Op Diet
Kyrie I'm with you all the way. This is day 9 of my pre op. I even feel strong enough that I'm going to a movie tonight where there will be buttered popcorn and diet coke. I'm going to bring a shake and jello. My purpose is for the movie, not the food. It may test my will power but I am resolved

My plan is to have a gastric sleeve done since I've had a pretty terrible experience with the band. Thank you for your reply to my post.

Lab Band Removal - Hospital Stay Duration???
I am going to have my lap band removed next week. It is eroding and causing significant pain in my stomach, mostly upper left quadrant. I was just wondering what to expect in terms of length of stay in the hospital after the surgery. I have heard that it can vary depending on the extent of the damage. I pray the stay is not long, but I am worried there is considerable damage with the amount of pain I have been experiencing.

Abdominal pain and discomfort
I've had the exact same issues with pain and discomfort for over 2 weeks. I am going to have my band removed next week because I can no stand the pain. I've missed 10 days of work. The doctors seem to think that the band was not put in correctly from the get go. I've only lost 20 lbs over 2 years. My new surgeon also suggested the sleeve. Seriously considering it and I pray it all goes well.

1st Fill
I went for my first fill yesterday and the nurse could not find my port. Never been good with needles and things went "south" fast. Started sweating profusely and then my arms and legs, feet and hands started getting numb and tingling. She found my port but not until after 5 numbings and 3 pokes. Will my fill always be like this? UGH!

Scars Aren't Healed
I'm supposed to get filled on Tuesday, September 20. My incisions still haven't healed yet and I'm not sure why. Some of them still have scabs and then they fall off and have yellow puss (gross, sorry for the TMI). Am I going to be ready for a fill or will they not let me because my incisions haven't healed completely yet???

Sept 8th....OMG!
I was banded August 12th and I was scared before the surgery. I didn't have a pre-op diet and I'm glad I didn't. I think I would have turned back if I had a pre-op diet. However, post op, it's way different. You don't have the hunger and the liquid diet is not hard at all. It is a great start to a great journey. Although my journey has been very short so far, I'm still so excited about the lap band and the wrst side effect I've had is itching at my incision sites.

Vitamins & The Lap Band
I use Flinstone Chewable Vitamins, my doctor recommended them, and so I don't have issues with swallowing them or getting them stuck.

IN ONE END AND OUT THE OTHER
I am on solid foods now and that is when it started to happen.

IN ONE END AND OUT THE OTHER
I just started on solid foods and things aren't looking so great. I am 3 weeks post-op today and my doctor moved me to solid foods early. I have still been eating some mushy foods and some solids, but everything that goes in comes right back out the other end about 10-15 minutes after I finish eating. I didn't think dumping syndrome happened with the Band, but I think that is what is going on. If I'm lucky enough to eat something that doesn't cause me to run for the bathroom, I still get so nauseous and start sweating like crazy. Any advice would help.

Mourning food
I am a junk food junkie as well and I haven't missed the food I used to crave. I love any type of Mexicann food and I was addicted to Diet Coke, 10 cans a day, before surgery. After surgery everything changed for me. I needed a constant in my diet and the LapBand provided that for me. Now I don't have a choice, I eat "good" because I want to live longer and the band limits my choices. I don't regret it all.
