  6. I think these fears and concerns are normal, if you did not have them that would be a little bizarre. I have not had my surgery yet but when I started out I was headstrong and did not see/worry about any problems. Now that I am closer the reality is starting to weigh in on me. I think, for you, since it's finally a reality, the seriousness and lasting effects are starting to register. Remember you're doing this for a healthier you. You may not be able to eat as much but the way you're eating now obviously isn't health for you. And if you could have lost the weight on your own then you would have done it. This is just a tool and it's not a magic fixer; it still requires work and dedication, just as much as a regular diet. I have read many people on here regret that they waited so long. You know deep down if this is right for you, and if it is you should take the plunge. Embrace a healthier life and a happier, healthier you!
  7. Im excited for you! I have Aetna as well so fingers crossed to a quick approval!

    Losing touch

Thank you for asking this! I didn't know how to put how I was feeling into words. And thank you to everyone for posting your responses. You all have provided me with great insight. Good luck to everyone on our journeys (:
  9. I think it's probably her own insecurities that keep her from congratulating you and showing approval. Unfortunately, she probably sees it as 'the easy way out' which it most certainly is not. It seems as though she is jealous of your new healthy life that you will be leading, and she knows that she will not lose the weight and keep it off, hence why she's comparing her weight loss to yours. I know it isnt easy esp when she tries to bring you down, but kill her with kindness, that's probably what she needs in her life anyway.
  10. First off, I know your pain with UTI; Secondly thank you for bringing this up, I did not even take this into consideration until now ! Good luck with getting the water issue figured out! Lastly, remember Phenazopyridine the pills that turn your pee gatorage orange. They always help ease the pain! Good luck!
  11. psych appointment went well! she thinks I'm a great candidate that is going to be successful! She will relay the message to my surgeon :-D!

    An opinion

Thanks so much!! That's a mini relief to hear even with extenuating circumstances a surgery can still be within reach for the date needed!! [: hope your thursday is going fantastic! and thanks for the tip!!
  15. So my last appointment for my supervised 6 month visit with my PCP (and this also my final requirement to fulfill) is the very beginning of November. My question to the people who are either going thru the process and are ahead of me or people who have already been thru this process: do you think it would be at all possible to have the surgery done before January? Assuming that Aetna gives an approval the first time around of course . Im asking because my rates are going up for surgery starting next year so Im hoping to get as much of a break as possible! Just let me know! thanks for all of your insight in advance!!
  16. First off, congratulations on making the decision to better YOU for YOURSELF . Never compromise you, you're all you ever really have. My husband threw a mini fit when I told him I wanted the surgery. Usually he is laid back and goes with the flow of everything but for some reason this surgery struck nerve with him. I told him that he sat by and did not see a problem, or show concern, over the the unhealthy lifestyle I have been leading up to this point (my own fault for gaining weight) yet he wants to hinder my attempts to become healthier for myself? After pulling my husband in the process, having him do the online orientation and watching videos and educating him on the material he is my number one fan. As I have suggested to other people, pull your fiancee into the process so he can see what a blessing this surgery could be to you. Have him watch videos with you, let him read these discussion boards so he can get a complete understanding of what you're really going to go through. Most people have an intense fear of the unknown; fear is just putting him in touch with his primal instincts, he is becoming protective and defensive because he is scared of the situation. Knowledge is power, help educate him on the vast information of VSG. In the end I am sure he will be there cheering you on, being your biggest supporter as usual.
  17. Thanks for asking, I was wondering as well!!!

  19. I am ecstatic to read that hubby came around after your last post, I have to say, I knew he would -- men are so predictable . I hope your pain is a letter better and I'm happy that you're on the other side!!! I can't wait to be there with ya'll!!

  22. just wrote a blog about my life and lost it. gah! ill write one again later, hope everyone has an amazing sunday <3

  23. So I am committed to this new lifestyle. I refuse to give in to 'food funerals,' though I am not in ANY way judging anyone who does. Personally speaking this is not a good idea because it will back pedal most of the self discipline I have built up to this point. I have a really weird and bizarre 'dilemma' that has been a bother to me. All of my appointments should be finished by the end of October/early November. If by any chance my surgery date falls in late November or December even, am I setting myself up for failure? My family has a huge tradition of a big Thanksgiving (which I doubt Id get my approval and surgery THAT soon -- one can only wish ) AND Christmas dinner. So will I hate the surgery more than I already might, immediately afterwards, because of having a surgery around the holidays? I just don't want to regret the surgery because of the aroma of the holiday meal and seeing everyone else eat and feel like crap because I am a reformed over-eater. Any insight or advice would be helpful, I am almost there!!!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend
