Yes, I was sleeved by Dr. Hoehn, almost 1 year ago. I could not recommend him, and the program at KC Bariatric, more. He is a superior surgeon, and the program is comprehensive and extremely professional. I looked at MANY options prior to choosing this one, and it was far superior to all of the others. How did the EGD go? I gotta tell you, it was the easiest of all of the hoops. I never slept so good in my life!

Make sure you keep on top of Dr. Hoehn's office. Sometimes, they can get behind on making follow up calls. I'm sure they are used to being "pestered" by people wanting a date. Good luck!

Hooray!! I'm so happy you've gotten your date. It's funny; when I scheduled mine, the 17th was the other date they offered to me. I'm so glad you got it. I'm doing okay; no regrets but I'm not going to sugar-coat it. It's not been an easy week by any means, but it's been very manageable. The best piece of advice I have for you is to follow their directions, pre and post op. They know what they are talking about, and there are good reasons for the rules. Hey there! Got your message; I'm doing okay. I'm a week out today; just had my first "solid" food in three weeks, a scrambled egg. It went down and stayed down so hooray! I'm still pretty sore. I went back to work today for about four hours and was pretty wiped out. I came home and crashed for about two hours. My first post-op appointment is tomorrow so I'm hoping that I get my staples out then. I'm keeping a blog if you want to follow it: www.bananapouch.blogspot.com. I'll try to keep it updated daily. thanks for the kind words and the support; it means a lot coming from someone who is going through the same things. i found out today that I have one more appointment with dr. hoehn, two days before surgery and a pre-op appointment at the hospital in a week. i have to do a 10 hour fast before that appointment; nothing but water for 10 hours before it. luckily, i got an appointment at 7:30 in the morning. they're going to do an EKG, chest xray, some lab work and then go through what is going to happen the day of surgery. that's the news for today; I'll keep you posted!

I've not heard about the injections to prevent clots; is this something you read about here or was it from Dr. Hoehn's office? I'm not too worried about the clots; I've got pretty good blood pressure and low cholesterol so I think I might be okay. But, I will look into it. Thanks for the head's up.

I haven't heard anything yet, but I'm hoping I will today. I really want to get it on the calendar as soon as possible!

Hi there:

I just finished with everything yesterday, actually. I had the EGD a couple of weeks ago, and that went fine. It was totally painless, and I actually got the best sleep I've gotten in a long time when I got home!

The meeting with the nutritionist was eye opening to say the least. That's the first time anyone gets into specifics about the diet, including the two week pr-op liquid diet. I admit, I was pretty freaked out by all of the restrictions and everything but after a few days of thinking about it and evaluation, I still decided to move ahead. In the end, I just want my life to revolve around life, not around food.

I completed my psychological evaluation yesterday. I am seeing my own therapist so that my insurance will cover it (I'm self pay for the procedure)and I plan to continue to see him after the surgery. Let me know if you have any other questions, or anything else. I'll keep you posted!
