    Not Dropping!

Don't panic, your only 9 days out of surgery? Way to early to worry about it! Your body has just undergone major changes - it will need time to adapt. Right now, your calorie consumption is way low, so it is entirely possible that your body is in survival mode and trying to protect its fat stores. Many times in the last year when I have increased calorie intake, I get past a weigh loss plateau and start to shed again. Also, it is getting warmer and your body may be trying to store up Water against dehydration - so you may just be seeing water weight. Good Luck!

    Itching All Over

This may sound like a silly question, but are you drinking enough water? If I start getting dehydrated my skin drys out and I get itchy... 4 weeks post op, I know I was not drinking enough water - heck, I am 10 months post op and I still find it difficult to stay hydrated.

Crazy Things Kids Say and Think

The other night my wife was getting dinner ready for her and the kids, and my 2 year old looks at me and tells me "daddy, you can't have any - you just eat jello". He has me pegged :-)

    Eating solids

I am also Jealous - I had surgery on June 28, I will not be allowed solids till August!
  7. Hiding in my bedroom while my wife and kids eat pizza. I am having a really tough time of this.

  8. I had yogurt! And it was good - tummy likes it! I was getting so sick of broth....

  9. Wear heavy clothing w/ steel toe boots, iphone in your pocket, keys, any thing else you have w/ some weight... good luck!
  10. Welome and you gotta finish the statement "Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste" - always loved the Stones! I may not be a man of wealth - taste has been very important in my life, and that is why I am here also - lol. Know what you mean on the the pride stuff - up until my surgery 11 days ago, I would do 65 minutes on the elliptical machine at the gym, but if I did not diet - weight would still creep on till I was at a BMI of over 50. I was so embarrased about having WLS, I told as few people as possible that I was having surgery - and only 4 people (wife, mother, daughter and a freind who had gastric bypass) what the surgery was. The truth of the matter is - I do not think "normal" people have ever been as hungry as I got on a daily basis. While I am in a tough situation right now in my recovery (liquid diet phase w/ dumping syndrome - which is rare for sleeves, but not unheard of) - I still think I made the correct decision, just counting the days till I can start having pureed foods so I can get some decent protien. Good Luck and welcome aboard! -Kevin
  11. I would agree that you should call your Doctor - good doctors do not mind answering questions, they are more worried that you will not ask and it could be a sign of something dangerous... My surgeon stressed over and over - call! I had a similiar situation, did you have an IV in that hand? I had so much stuff injected into my hands it wasn't funny. I ended up w/ IV tubes in both hands while I was in surgery, it was left hand while I was awake and being prepped, but apparently they had an issue and changed it to my right hand while I was in surgery. After surgery, I had some nurses who took thier time with the injections and others who rushed it - this caused some blow outs in the veins. When they finally gave up on my right hand, they took the tape off and it looked like I had a giant baby hand (I have very little fat in outer extremities - so this was majorly obvious). I had fewer injections in the left when they switched back, so had a similiar but less pronounced baby hand. I am 11 days out of surgery, all the swelling has gone down - but the back of my hands and wrists are still sore. Good Luck - and please call your doctors office - or if you had surgery elsewhere, at least call you primary care physician and talk to them about it. -Kevin
  12. Good news - I got full release to go back to work tomorrow! The bad news, I am having dumping syndrome with the liquid protein drinks and still can not start on pureed protein til next week. Surgeon said I will have to be protein deficient for awhile.

  13. low point of the day - my two year old (future NFL linebacker) got up and started running at me yelling Hug! He was intercepted by his older sister and kept from giving me on of his power squish hugs. He cried and cried cause he wanted daddy. I feel an inch tall...

  14. I am supposed to be discharged before 10 this morning - just in time for our Monthky CPS inspection (we are foster parents anf

  15. Kevin's tummy wants nothing in it for a while!
