  1. WOW Everyone is doing so well!! I am a month out tomorrow and I feel amazing. I lost 11 pounds on my presurgical diet, and have now lost another 24 pounds since my surgery for a grand total of 35 pounds! I know it's probably not the best habit, but I don't count my Protein or Water. I just only eat foods that are high in Protein and I drink Water constantly. I can't believe how much my body has changed in such a short amount of time and I can't wait to see what the future holds for me!

PS. Does anyone else get SUPER sick if they eat something high in sugar?

  2. I just wanted to thank everyone who has been posting on here about stalls lately. I was a bundle of nerves and negativity for over a week, so I followed a lot of advice from here and from my docs office. (one of the nurses there said her longest stall was 4 weeks!) For those of you still in a stall, I thought I'd compile a few of what I felt were the most helpful tips.

    1. Increase your Protein intake. Drink another half shake or whatever it takes to get you up to the level your doc wants you at.

    2. Read this article: http://www.dsfacts.c...or-plateau.html It has been posted a few times on this forum, and was shared with me by Nancy Rivers.

    3. Get moving! After surgery it's normal to feel sluggish and tired, but its important to keep your metabolism and your heart rate up.

    4. Put away the scale! Your body goes through natural fluctuations every day for all different kinds of reasons. It's really difficult to break the habit of weighing every day, so wean yourself off. Go every other day, then step it back to once a week or every other week.

    5. Drink some water! Water is essential in so many of the biological processes that happen in your body. If you don't drink enough, you'll find very quickly that you feel tired, nauseous, and you might notice the scale staying the same. A quick way to assess whether you're getting enough? Check your urine. If it's getting progressively darker, you need more Water.

    6. Trust your medical team, trust your sleeve and trust yourself. The sleeve will work if you let it. You have the capacity to make it work for you and to do all the wonderful things that you have been planning with your new life. So put a smile on, go for a walk, and enjoy life!

I really hope that these things will help someone still stuck in a stall. Comment if you have anything else to add to the list!

  3. Let me just start by saying that I've contemplated posting something like this for about a week. It was then that I peered down at the scale and *gasp* I hadn't lost any weight. Now, five days later, I'm in the same boat. As a matter of fact, I've gained two pounds!

I'm eating like a bird. sugar free pudding, cottage cheese, Protein drinks and egg. Sometimes I get this defeated attitude and I think that my sleeve is obviously not working, the doctor made it too big, I will always be fat blah blah blah. so I try to eat crackers or something...at which point I throw up.

Everyone else talks about how they are losing weight without even trying. "It doesn't matter what I do" they say. "I still lose weight." This is apparently not the case for me.

My doctor's office assured me that I'm completely normal and that this happens sometimes. But for some reason, I can't bring myself to get over it!

Somebody please tell me that they went through something like this. I just need some hope.

  4. I totally agree with you! It just keeps getting better and better. I haven't had any desire to eat food for the past 3 days! And if I field one comment about "the easy way" I'll get so cranky!! Best of luck in the rest of your recovery!

My first day was really bad, this second one is better. I hope that you feel better soon. Yesterday I asked myself all day what I had done! I swear if anyone tells me I took the easy way I'll slug them!

  5. Thanks everyone for all of your positive thoughts. I will say that all of the rumors about the second day are 100% true. For some reason, I didn't think that I would have to go through all of that because my first day went so well...boy was I ever wrong!!

Basically I've been throwing up anything I try to get down since 5 this morning. They also made me stay an extra night so that they could get the nausea and pain under control. Finally about an hour ago, the charge nurse came waltzing in my room with two syringes. I have no idea what was in them, but I've been cured! I definitely recommend having a supportive person with you because it can be rough and the nurses just don't have time to come in your room every time that you throw up.

I will admit that sometime this afternoon I honestly asked myself if I had made a huge mistake. I know everyone goes through this, but for everyone who is just starting this journey, know that those feelings will eventually go away. Make sure you advocate for yourself and have them try as many different drugs as possible so that YOU are comfortable.

Again, thanks for all of your happy thoughts and kind words. Know that I'm sending more out your way too :)

  6. I got sleeved this morning and I feel pretty good. I WA pretty fortunate for a couple reasons.

    1. So far, I haven't experienced any of the pain in the shoulders from the gas.

    2. My doctor went to a seminar to learn single port sleeving and because I'm so short, he did it for me. This means that I only have one incision which is in my belly button.

    3. I have yet to feel even the slightest nausea...knock on wood. I'm only allowed ice chips. I can't even drink small sips of Water. I'm actually kind of nervous about restriction because j haven't felt any! Does anyone know at what point I will start feeling it?

I am so tired right now so I'm going to push my happy button (morphine) and go to sleep! I'll repudate this post either late today or tomorrow!!! Sending healing thoughts out to everyone else who got sleeved today.

  7. It's seriously so stressful to wait for the insurance company.

You probably understand these feelings: sitting and thinking about getting surgery; get happy because I am excited to be thin and healthy; pit in stomach and check myself - I'm not approved yet! What if I don't get approved? What if I do? Think some more about surgery; get happy because I am excited to be thin and healthy! (repeat 100 times a day)

I hope that you're able to get some peace and I hope you get approved soon!

  8. Hi everyone! My name is Brittany and if my insurance comes through, I'm scheduled to get sleeved July 11th!! I'm so happy to see that there are so many other people starting this journey at the same time as me! Best of luck to all of you.

  9. My Dr's office just called me today to tell me that they've submitted my paperwork. They had me schedule a surgery date even though the approval hasn't come through. I'm really, really nervous that they'll say no, but at the same time, I get excited every time I think about it. If anyone cares, here are my stats:

    Height: 5'1''

    Weight: 209

    BMI: 39.5

Co-morbidities: Severe sleep apnea and arthritis.

Any support or tips y'all could give me would be awesome!
