The Woes Of The Scale...
Every morning when I wake up, I weigh myself. When I'm home from the gym and about to get in the shower, I do it again. Sometimes after my classes are over, I'll do it for a third time. Without fail, I do it before bedtime too. That's four times on the scale every day. If I didn't weigh myself in the morning, I would feel anxious all day thinking that I might have missed a new low weight. I kept telling myself that this would be the last time and that after this, I wouldn't weigh myself for another week. It never worked like that. I felt drawn to it. I had to weigh myself. For the record, I'm in the last semester of my bachelor's degree in Biology. I know that body weight fluctuates every hour of the day for reasons other than fat. Even still, if the number was up from the day or hours before, I was devastated. My life was so centered on the scale that last night, I finally cracked. I had eaten an (extremely) high sodium meal for lunch today, so obviously my weight went up. (2 pounds, for the record) When I saw that number, I immediately started making plans to do a pouch test because OBVIOUSLY, my sleeve wasn't working. For once, my rational thoughts won over and I did what I should have done a long time ago. I reached down for the scale, and removed the batteries. It wont be forever, but it is definitely what I needed to do for my own sanity. I'm going to only weigh myself on Monday mornings and on the 11th of the month. It's high time that I start giving myself a break and admit that I've been incredibly successful so far, and that my self confidence should not revolve around the number on that scale. It is merely a tool to make sure that I'm making the decisions that will promote success with my sleeve, and health for the rest of my life.

Five Month Gastric Sleeve Surgery Update (with Pics!)
Good Morning Friends! It's been a couple of months since I did a surgery update, so I thought I'd post some new pictures and thoughts. I'll start by saying how incredibly lucky I feel to have had the sleeve. It has changed my life in ways that I never thought possible. If you had shown me a picture of how I would look in five months, I would have laughed at you and said it was impossible; there is no way that I could be that small...but yet here I am. Here are some points of interest about how my life is with the sleeve: I have lost 65 pounds (77% of my excess body weight) I ran a 5k this month My hair is falling out like CRAZY! I still have issues with throwing up after eating (usually when I make stupid choices) I have never felt more alive...ever. I'm starting to feel like the leading lady in my own life...not the one who plays everybody's best friend. If you want to see more pictures of my journey, you can go to my gallery on my profile page or click here: http://www.verticals...r/8913-bitties/ Best of luck to everyone!!!

Major Nsv - Ran A 5k Today!
A little less than five months ago, I was 210 pounds. I had a hard time walking around the mall and I never would have entertained the idea of running a 5K. I've been running a few times a week using the couch to 5k app. My physical therapist said that he thought I could do way more than I was using that app. So today, I decided to do it. I went down and ran 17 laps non-stop on the indoor track in 32:33. It is amazing what your body can accomplish!! Next stop, 10K!!! Best wishes everyone!

Will This Liquid Diet Ever End? :/
Eight pounds in eight days is great! I remember my pre-op diet...it was pure torture. I felt like I cheated at least twice a day. My doc never really asked me about it except for the last two days before surgery it was really important to him that I stayed on clear liquids only. Stay strong and remember that IT GETS BETTER! In a few months this will be a faint memory compared to all the new ones you'll be making as your new, skinny self. Best of luck!

3 Months Out (with the promised pics!!)
I was lucky enough to have had my surgery done through my navel so my scars are hidden I believe it's called a spider surgery or something like that.

3 Months Out (with the promised pics!!)
Thanks guys!! Another thing that I wanted to note is that the difference between the last three pics is ten pounds each. Sometimes I read people saying things like "only ten pounds" and it makes me sad. Ten pounds makes a world of difference!!!

Two Months Out!!
Hey everyone! I just wanted to put up a quick post about my progress since the sleeve. Today marks 2 months since I went under the knife in Seattle and I can now say that it's quite possibly the best thing that I have ever done for myself. This morning, I jumped on the scale and I weighed 165.4! That means that since my sleeve, I've lost a grand total of 44.6 pounds and my BMI is 30.3. A few things that have changed for me since the sleeve: 1. Shopping is fun again! I don't have to skulk off to the plus size section and flick through the mumus with an ashamed look on my face. 2. When I notice men looking at me, my mind doesn't flash "stoplookingatmyfatstoplookingatmyfatstoplookingatmyfat!" 3. I can run! It might be only a mile or two, but I CAN DO IT! 4. Last night, I just saw my best friend whom I haven't seen since before the surgery. He picked me up and swung me around laughing saying, "bitties! What happened to you! You look SO amazing!!" He didn't stop talking about it all night long. I'm not ready to put before and after pics up yet, but I promise that I will eventually. To everyone who's trolling these boards trying to decide if you're ready to have the surgery or not, just take the plunge and do it. You won't regret it.

First real NSV
Every Tuesday I go to P.F. Changs Happy Hour to get steamed dumplings. (I peel off the wrapper) The bartender there is absolutely adorable. Usually it's pretty busy but today it was absolutely dead. We were discussing the fact that I work for a major diet company as a weight loss consultant (ultimate irony, I know) He then told me that he thinks that I am a great role model for my clients. He said he thinks I have a perfect body and that I'm so beautiful and blah blah blah. I don't care if he was just saying that to get a tip I was skipping all over the place. So happy!!
