    Roll call

WOW Everyone is doing so well!! I am a month out tomorrow and I feel amazing. I lost 11 pounds on my presurgical diet, and have now lost another 24 pounds since my surgery for a grand total of 35 pounds! I know it's probably not the best habit, but I don't count my Protein or Water. I just only eat foods that are high in protein and I drink water constantly. I can't believe how much my body has changed in such a short amount of time and I can't wait to see what the future holds for me! PS. Does anyone else get SUPER sick if they eat something high in sugar?
  2. Let me just start by saying that I've contemplated posting something like this for about a week. It was then that I peered down at the scale and *gasp* I hadn't lost any weight. Now, five days later, I'm in the same boat. As a matter of fact, I've gained two pounds! I'm eating like a bird. sugar free pudding, cottage cheese, Protein drinks and egg. Sometimes I get this defeated attitude and I think that my sleeve is obviously not working, the doctor made it too big, I will always be fat blah blah blah. so I try to eat crackers or something...at which point I throw up. Everyone else talks about how they are losing weight without even trying. "It doesn't matter what I do" they say. "I still lose weight." This is apparently not the case for me. My doctor's office assured me that I'm completely normal and that this happens sometimes. But for some reason, I can't bring myself to get over it! Somebody please tell me that they went through something like this. I just need some hope.
  3. Thanks everyone for the support! The article about the stall put me at ease. I know that if I just keep doing what I'm supposed to the weight will come off. I'm going to throw away my scale!
  4. I got sleeved this morning and I feel pretty good. I WA pretty fortunate for a couple reasons. 1. So far, I haven't experienced any of the pain in the shoulders from the gas. 2. My doctor went to a seminar to learn single port sleeving and because I'm so short, he did it for me. This means that I only have one incision which is in my belly button. 3. I have yet to feel even the slightest nausea...knock on wood. I'm only allowed ice chips. I can't even drink small sips of Water. I'm actually kind of nervous about restriction because j haven't felt any! Does anyone know at what point I will start feeling it? I am so tired right now so I'm going to push my happy button (morphine) and go to sleep! I'll repudate this post either late today or tomorrow!!! Sending healing thoughts out to everyone else who got sleeved today.
  5. I totally agree with you! It just keeps getting better and better. I haven't had any desire to eat food for the past 3 days! And if I field one comment about "the easy way" I'll get so cranky!! Best of luck in the rest of your recovery!
  6. Thanks everyone for all of your positive thoughts. I will say that all of the rumors about the second day are 100% true. For some reason, I didn't think that I would have to go through all of that because my first day went so well...boy was I ever wrong!! Basically I've been throwing up anything I try to get down since 5 this morning. They also made me stay an extra night so that they could get the nausea and pain under control. Finally about an hour ago, the charge nurse came waltzing in my room with two syringes. I have no idea what was in them, but I've been cured! I definitely recommend having a supportive person with you because it can be rough and the nurses just don't have time to come in your room every time that you throw up. I will admit that sometime this afternoon I honestly asked myself if I had made a huge mistake. I know everyone goes through this, but for everyone who is just starting this journey, know that those feelings will eventually go away. Make sure you advocate for yourself and have them try as many different drugs as possible so that YOU are comfortable. Again, thanks for all of your happy thoughts and kind words. Know that I'm sending more out your way too

    Day 3 of Pre-op diet

I think that following the pre-op diet is the hardest thing that I've had to do so far. My surgeon lets me have one serving of lean protein and two protein shakes a day. I have yet to follow this perfectly :/ Anyone else out there have any tips to staying on??
  10. Hey everybody! I get sleeved July 11 with Dr. Hanafy!!! I'm so excited to see all of our progress!! Is anyone else having a hard time sticking to the pre-op diet?

    Paperwork Submitted

It's seriously so stressful to wait for the insurance company. You probably understand these feelings: sitting and thinking about getting surgery; get happy because I am excited to be thin and healthy; pit in stomach and check myself - I'm not approved yet! What if I don't get approved? What if I do? Think some more about surgery; get happy because I am excited to be thin and healthy! (repeat 100 times a day) I hope that you're able to get some peace and I hope you get approved soon!

    Submitted today.

My Dr's office just called me today to tell me that they've submitted my paperwork. They had me schedule a surgery date even though the approval hasn't come through. I'm really, really nervous that they'll say no, but at the same time, I get excited every time I think about it. If anyone cares, here are my stats: Height: 5'1'' Weight: 209 BMI: 39.5 Co-morbidities: Severe sleep apnea and arthritis. Any support or tips y'all could give me would be awesome!
