  1. My reply was that it was the result of hard work and big time portion control. That's not lying! Congrats on your success. Keep up the work and praise Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  3. I am two year post op and putting on weight. I need to get back on this site and refresh my memory. I wish I never stopped checking in on this support system daily. Little by little, I fell back into poor eating habits. I never got on track with an exercise routine either. BIG MISTAKE. I had my surgery in April and by early August I had lost 30+lbs. I wasn't impressed. Later in August I went on a 2 week trip to Europe that was strenuous walking. By the time mid-September rolled around I had lost another 40!!!! That exercise on vacation really kick started my weight loss! (did I learn from that? no) Stress eating got the best of me and little by little I began eating more and more. More fats. Loads of sugar. ( I'm a sugar addict) I pray to God I can shrink my tummy and get back on track. I have put back on half the weight. Newbies.....stay the course. Do the work. I'd hate for you to fail as I have.
  4. Thank you so very much everyone! I'm so touched by your thoughtfulness and support. For the newbies: I had an immediate realization after my surgery. Post-op you are instantly faced with needing to realize there's two types of hungry. 1st is Head Hunger. 2nd is Actual Hunger. I am a compulsive eater. I always feel the need to be chewing on something. Head hunger. I pray you can 'tune into' the difference quickly. The more honest you can be with this, the more successful you'll be :-)
  5. I felt same way for a couple of months after my surgery. I was eating according to plan but was inactive. Losing slowly. Then I went on a European vacation and was VERY active. That activity did the trick and my weight loss went into overdrive! I started losing inches like crazy and people were complimenting me left and right. I'm 7 1/2 mos post-op and went from a size 24 to a 16. I think you need to really NOTICE the weight loss and you will feel like a million!

  7. In my opinion, C-section was much worse!!!!! I wouldn't want to do a c-section again but I'd do sleeve again in a heartbeat. Don't get me wrong, it's not a breeze, but far less painful than a cesarean for sure!
  8. I need the address to this fair, you had me at deep fried Klondike bars....... hahahahaha! I don't know you but I am SO PROUD of you!!!!!! This weight loss feels better than those fries would taste. You're a strong woman...keep up the good work!!!!

    I Need Your Input Please!

I am ELATED I had the sleeve. I was 5'8" and 295 on day of surgery (4/26/12). It's now almost four months and I'm down 50lbs which is half my goal weight loss. I, too, have heard many stories about people out eating their band. Why go through all this to fail? I am NOT saying this process is easy. It definitely is a challenge but I honestly would do it again. Wonderful experience. So, don't be another patient who says "Gee! I wish I had done the sleeve the first time." Best wishes....can't WAIT til you feel wonderful in your own body!!!!

    First Major Stall

I stalled. I went on a cruise. At small but whatever I wanted and I LOST weight drastically. I believe my body needed variety of fat and different aspects of nutrition as well as the strenuous physical exertion of touring we did. Lots of walkin & climbing. So.....est more and woke out more!
  11. It really depends on what your surgeon has prescribed. I know some who were strictly on liquids for two weeks, others a specific diet and my surgeon just told me to start eating just healthy food that will be the same as after the surgery. I'd call your office and ask them. Best wishes! This was the BEST decision I made.
