  1. I was able to drink my 11oz shake the day after surgery fine. I think that many people experience gas vs food the first couple days, and for me I found that I would get a little nauseous at first because it was like the gas pushed up and the food wanted to go down. I have no idea medically if that is a good explanation, but I found that as gas bloating/crazy burps went down, I was able to eat more normally to my true signals.

just take it slow and pay attention to true hunger. I have had to stop myself from continuing eating even when feeling ravenous. If I still feel hungry after about 10-15 min, I know it's real.

  2. My dietician says no drinking ten minutes prior and 45 minutes after a meal.

You know what you need to do, and you know the problems you ran into last time. If you make sure to lessen the problems, you should be able to lose the weight you want. If you're willing to try again, I wouldn't classify that as a failure.

  3. I knew that if I was going to do a procedure, it would be the gastric banding. I just think gastric has so many more risks, and even though the weight loss may be faster, I could not overlook the problems.

Don't get me wrong, I've known people who have had bypass and have done great, but it's not for me. You will decide in time what is best for you.

  4. I found out I was approved in the AM and called my surgeon's office in the PM. They had been notified the day prior, so I was glad I called. Was able to schedule my surgery date but had no idea why they had not called me first?

it can't hurt to follow up and see if they know. Besides, they are getting a nice chunk of change for their part :-)
