    Unjury

I've gotten jay robb in a supplement store, but you can order online too. I personally do not like unflavored protein mixes because they still smell/taste weird to me. I actually didn't like the Unjury chicken soup because it smelled awful. I got samples of Unjury products and premier nutrition ready to drink shakes from my dietician. Finding a powder you like is pretty important. Tastes vary so much that It's good to try and find sample packs before commiting.

    Unjury

It's okay. Honestly I would probably buy a cheaper kind in store or at a Vitamin Shoppe. Most supplement stores even have a liberal return policy that if you didn't like the product, they will refund. Jay Robb is also good.

    Lightheadedness = Unhappy Workout

More protein would be my suggestion. Why are you back on the pre-op diet and what is the diet?

    Yogurt, Frozen Or Not

Healthy Choice makes a Greek frozen yogurt in 100 calorie single serve cups.

    Different Kind Of Band

In the US, they use Lapband and Realize. Seems like they also use the Midband in Australia and Canada. My Dr only uses Lapband.

    Diagnose Me, Please?!

Possibly gallbladder, but definitely needs a visit with a Dr.
  7. Regular vomiting and regurgitating food (aka productive burp, pb) because you ate too much, too fast, or too big of bites are two seperate things. Regular vomiting is forceful, whereas a pb is food from the pouch on top of the band that is unable to pass through.

How Big Is Too Big Of A Sip

I only did little sips for a couple weeks after surgery due to the swelling, etc, but I am now able to drink normally. I actually gulp a lot, but some cannot physically.
  9. Dr's recommend to get your protein from food and not drinks because the band is only designed to work with foods, so the liquids go right through and you do not experience the feeling of satiation as if you had eaten food and it had to work its way from the band to the rest of the stomach. It is normal to actively drink protein drinks til 4-6 weeks out from banding (some are even longer, as they are on full liquids for 4 weeks and then spend another 2-4 weeks transitioning to foods). After that it is advised to get all nutritients from food.

    Is This Normal?

Being a 'Lap Band Master' only summarizes the amount of posts you've made and not your actual knowledge level on the subject. My opinion is that your surgeon advanced you to real foods quickly, but if you're following orders then you should be fine. The reason most surgeons require a 2 week post op full liquid diet is so the stomach does not churn as it would when you consume actual food. Churning can cause popped sutures and incorrect band settling. Just make sure to follow YOUR Dr's orders.
  11. I talked to my nutritionist about this at my 6 month follow up and she said fruits/veggies are the hardest things to get in. She recommended to eat meats on beds of lettuce and add chopped up veggies, peppers etc to most anything I'm cooking. I also found single serve dried apple chips at Walmart (40 calories and apparently 2 fruit servings). I guess we have to learn to be creative in getting our veggies/fruits in.

    First Fill And Pb'ing???

If you feel that in your throat, I would recommend going back to the Dr and getting a small amount removed.
  13. I was told that the first few days you should focus most on getting in all the required liquids. If you are having so much problems with eating so soon, try to drink plain milk until you can stomach something more. It will pass as the gas is released, I could only do small amounts of food and had a hard time with puddings, jello, etc as they made me nauseous.
  14. I read this book too, and it was nice to hear first person experience. I really recommend you purchase "Bandwagon" by Jean McMillan, it is the most comprehensive book about pre-op, post-op and everything in between.

    First Fill And Pb'ing???

Did you have fill at time of surgery or do you only have 0.2cc? It's unusual, but not impossible, that you could be too tight. Are you having trouble consuming liquids or are you trying to eat normal foods? I recommend sticking to liquids for the first 48 hours post fill.

    Need Some Advice

I know some surgeons only do surgery and have staff who do after care, while others do after care as well. I'm not sure if you're question is in regards to the actual fill process or your current intake. Sounds like you may need a fill because you can eat more than previously able....
  17. I'm sorry your Dr was not very nice, sometimes they seem to forget that they work for us. I would also say you're not eating enough, and I would also worry about the reflux even though it's not bothering you. It sounds like you already track food, how much water are you drinking daily? Are you exercising? Unfortunately for some people, those two things are also very important in getting the body to let go of weight. Do you have any underlying medical issues (PCOS, thyroid issues)?

"i Think You Are Too Skinny"

Like someone else said, when everyone is used to seeing you larger, it is shocking to see you in a normal weight and it is easier to think someone has gotten too thin. Take it as a compliment.

    Lunch Ideas

I recently had the Costco rotisserie chicken salad and it was delicious! I have a recipe I am going to try and make on my own to replicate it as it is $5 a pound and only comes in a huge tub!

    Surgeon Etiquette

My surgeon talked to my family after surgery, but I did not see her until my follow up appointment. They are busy people operating on numerous people in a day, so I would not hold it against them.
  21. I also like jerky, Greek yogurt, string cheese, and tuna or chicken salad. I do have protein powders and even those protein shots, but don't really use them. I can pretty much eat any meat as long as it's not too dry, so that's not an issue for me. I usually cook for myself, so I have a lot of Trader Joe staples.

    Newbie With Questions

Self pay is usually much faster than insurance pay- I've seen some go through in as fast as two weeks. It really depends on the tests the surgeon requires you to undergo before surgery. I am not in your area, but know that True Results is pretty popular down there.

I Might Be The Only 1 Who Feels This Way

If you cannot keep foods down, you should have Protein drinks, milk, or those protein shots available to eat and not be eating ice cream. You need the protein.

    My Band Slipped :(((

I would say if you cannot eat normal foods and have remained on a mostly liquid diet for an extended period of time, then you should be getting a slight unfill and not the opposite. I cannot believe your DR would do another fill after learning you are not eating solids and would recommend a 2 week liquid diet following a fill.

    Psychologist Questions?

I had to take a very long scantron test that the psychologist evaluated. We met and talked about why I wanted surgery, etc. they want to make sure you are realistic about why you want the surgery and what you expect. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
