    Serious Question

I like the 100 calorie options sold as microwave popcorn. My nutritionist never said not to eat these types of popcorn. As for movie popcorn, I wouldn't eat that because it is high in calories due to popping in oil. If you get the added butter, it is even worse! I think a small regal cinemas with no butter is around 400-500 calories.

    Hungry But Getting Stuck!

I like turkey jerky as an on the go protein option. I just make sure to pre-portion the jerky in 1.5oz bags because it's easy to overeat. 1.5oz is 120 cal and about 20g protein.

    Need Help With Cravings!!

I would recommend logging calories for a week to see what you're really eating. Protein is a great thing to keep track of, but you need to keep the overall caloric content in mind. You should also focus on getting 80 oz plus water a day.

    What Is "pb"ing?

PB means productive burp. It is what happens when someone either gets stuck due to food or drinks when eating. Some call it vomiting, but it is a regurgitation of what is above the band. It is accompanied by a very thick slime.

    Ipad Problems

I noticed that the "send" button no longer worked this morning when using my Ipad. I also noticed that on the regular site, the "view new content" link was removed from top right hand corner under where my messages, user name/picture, and notifications are....
  6. Yesterday you were too tight, so you are awful close if not at restriction. Some people cannot eat solids in the morning. I would take it easy on the eating front for another day or so to let your stomach settle down. When you start to eat normal foods, make sure to take small bites, chew, chew, chew, and wait a while between bites. If you start to feel pain in your throat, stop eating and let it pass.
  7. I would let your doctor choose, as they know more about the band than we do. They also may have more experience/success with one brand over the other. I have lapband and started feeling restriction at 3.5cc. Some feel it early on and others at higher numbers. The only thing I had heard is the realize is low pressure, so it can take longer to feel the green zone.
  8. In the USA, the Lapband is allowed for anyone with BMI of 30+. Why would you go with the gastric balloon- it is not permanent, so if portioning is your issue or eating too much, then the weight loss would only be temporary until the balloon was removed again. If I would have had the Lapband when I only had 40, 50, or 60 pounds to lose, I would have been a lot better off than having AT LEAST 110 to lose.

It is normal. Focus on getting in plenty of liquids and your food intake will increase as you heal.

    14Cc Band Vs. 4Cc Band

So you don't blow right past the green zone and into the red zone. Some people reach the green zone at 2 or 3cc, while others don't find the green zone til they are 7, 8, 9cc.

    Screwed Up

I like turkey Jerky, Greek yogurt, and light string cheese.
  14. I would recommend counting calories for a week to see what you're really eating. When I estimate, I am really off.
  15. This last month I lost 12. To put that in perspective, the 2 months prior I only lost 4. Weight loss can vary, in my case it is due to some less than stellar eating and exercise routine for those two months. As for calories, I saw most on here stuck around 1200 and when I discussed with my nutritionist, she said if I felt satisfied I could have a range of 1200-1400.
  16. Full for me is a super uncomfortable feeling in my throat area. I eat until I am satisfied and I am no longer hungry. With my last fill, I also start hiccups, which is a soft stop signal for myself.

    Help! What Should I Do?

If you didn't feel like you needed a fill, you should have told the doctor and not let him/her give you one. That aside, you should not force any food back up. If it comes up naturally then it will.

    Banded Yesterday,,

All doctors orders vary for the length of the clear liquid diet, the full liquid diet, the puréed stage, the mushie stage, and full foods. Consult the information your dr gave you and call for guidance if you need to.

    Help Me Please!!!!

I think it would be best to go back and visit with your nutritionist to get a refresher course on the appropriate way to eat. 1. No drinking 30 minutes before, during, or after meals 2. No more than 1 cup of food at a meal 3. Protein first, fruits and veggies second, carbs last 4. Make sure to get enough protein per day- body weight x 0.3=grams needed per day 5. Be mindful when you eat and ONLY eat until you are satisfied, not full. 6. Do not eat when you're not hungry 7. Eat filling foods- whole grains, meats, etc and not processed crap 8. Don't eat liquid calories, including sodas or coffee creations. The band is only meant to work with solids. 9. Make sure to exercise some every day. Include weight training a couple times a week because this will help with your long term maintenance. 10. Buy a food scale and join a site like my fitness pal, lose it, or sparkpeople so you can log food and stay accountable.

    The Good And Bad

I LOVE my band and the feeling of freedom and control it has returned to my life. I no longer feel like a slave to my food habits or like a failure because I cannot succeed at a diet long term. I have learned new skills about feeding my body, and even though I still enjoy treats, etc, I am not out of control anymore. I had a really quick healing process post-surgery. I took my pain meds for three days and followed the post-op diet as closely as I could. I did get delayed gas pains at about day four or five that lasted for a few days and went away. Burping and farting are common post-op occurences as the body is ridding itself of the gas, but they do not last permanently. Just read all you can about living with the band and you will be well prepared.
