  1. Happy 65th Birthday BJK!

  2. Hi, everyone, Thanks for your thoughtful input. Some good advice. The more I read about lapband, the more serious I realize this decision is. That is good. I am not taking this lightly at all. I do believe that I can follow the rules for eating when I have to. I don't drink with meals anymore. I feel as if the tiny bites and taking 30 minutes to eat are hard when I have a regular size stomach. Keep thinking with a lapband I won't be able to overdo it or I will pay the price. The "tool" that I need. Thanks again! Bonnie
  3. Hi everyone, I am just starting the process towards maybe a lapband. I am supposed to be eating tiny bites, chew, chew, chew, take half and hour to eat, etc. I find it all impossible. Am I kidding myself that I will be able to do it once I actually have a lapband? Or is this a sign I am not a good candidate? Also have a hard time eating three meals a day and 2 Snacks, all with some form of Protein. Am I a failure already?:rose: Bonnie
  4. Hi everyone, Thanks for your warm wlecome! Bonnie
  5. Hi! Thanks to you all for your input. I was shocked when I started to read about people who can't eat bread, rice, pasta, chicken, etc, I wondered if that meant for the rest of their lives. Don't know if I could stand that. My original picture of the band was that I would be able to eat pretty much anything just in smaller amounts. :phanvan My surgeons have only been doing the lapband for 1 year so there aren't long term bandsters to talk to. Thanks again for your help! Bonnie
  6. Hi! Just had my first appointment, I am suppposed to be eating like I had a band already. Tiny bites, chew to mush, take 1/2 hour to eat, no liquids, no reading/TV etc while eating. Can't imagine doing that for the rest of my life. Can longer term bandsters tell me what it is like with those restrictions after 4 or 5 years? Also, what is PB? Thanks for your input! Bonnie
  7. Hi Everyone! Been reading for a while, decided to say hello. I have had my first appointment, now have lots of tests scheduled. My BMI is 37 and am hoping for sleep apnea as I need a comorbidity! What a crazy system!:phanvan Isn't being 59 and overweight all your life enough? Bonnie
