  1. We don't have a Trader Joe's :-( Maybe Whole Food's will have some interesting things to try.
  2. Congrats to all you 27th Firecrackers.
  3. My doc gave me a prescription for Pepcid 20 mg. It's a tablet and I just take it whole. I don't have any problems with taking pills. Also I he has me taking it twice a day. So once in the AM and once before I go to bed.
  4. Maybe make your protein shakes a little bit thicker. But don't over do it. Just keep sipping all day long. Have you tried any broth yet? or a cream of chicken soup, if you are allowed that?
  5. That is terrible. I hope all turns out well for you.
  6. I'm just east of Dallas in the Rockwall area. Yes I had my surgery done last week in Plano. Good Luck.
  7. Congrats, that is awesome. I can't wait to join you.
  8. I have one each morning. I just keep them in my fridge. Love them cold. Haven't tried over ice. Might do that. I love them. NO chalky/powder taste. Easy way to get in your Protein.
  9. Welcome to the Losers Bench Jen. Sorry for all the nausea problems. I know that is not a good feeling. Hopefully now that your home, you will get to feeling better much faster.
  10. Thank you everyone for your support. I'm really trying. I don't want my husband coming home to see me stomping my feet in the middle of the floor throwing a fit, crying "I'm Hungry". LOL
  11. I have to stay on liquids until Aug. 1st.
  12. I'm 9 days post op. I'm only allowed liquids, and I'm going nuts. I just want to eat something. I ate 4 popsicles yesterday because its the closet thing I can eat. I know this is probably just head hunger, but I'm going nuts. I just want to cry.
  13. Have you called your insurance to find out what the requirements are yourself? I have BCBS TRS, its a 6 month supervised diet. Like you I already had this from my PCP, but it only has to be 6 month within a 24 month period and doesn't have to be consecative. So check with your insurance before you go. If you can have the 3 month diet within a certain amount of time and already have that with your PCP, then make sure you get the records and take with you when you go. That way you are halfway there. Then they can send in the info to your insurance and you will be on your way. Do what you can on your end, makes it go much faster. Good Luck.
  14. Yes Kristie, usually you can get your surgery while you are still paying on it. I can only speak for my doctor and the facility they use. Now I used my insurance and had to pay $2030 left on my deductible and out of pocket. They let me pay 1/2 that up front and I'm paying out the rest. BUT.... before I was approved, I wanted to know how much it would be if I paid out of pocket. I wasn't sure if I would get approved or not. If I was a cash patient, they charge a flat fee of $12,000 for doc and hospital charges. I was told if I go that route, you put so much down and then pay out like $100 or so each month. They would finance up to like 18 months or 24 months. But the fact is...they are willing to work with you. So there has to be other doctors out there that do this. I'm in the Dallas area and I know my doc isn't the only one around here that does it. Even if you use part of your husbands 401K to make a small down payment, that would get you going, then do your monthly payments. I have also heard of some organization for WLS people that helps with financial assitstants. I don't know alot about it, but I know there is something like that out there. Someone else on here may know more about it.
  15. Good Luck Texas Gal. Where are you having your surgery?
  16. I have a protein shake I drink each day that has 30 grms in it. I only need to get 60 gms per day. Just wondering if I had 3 a day, which would be 90 gms, is that too much? Would that be a problem?
  17. Do you think the Protein shot could have caused it? Try to relax. If they don't stop, call your doctor. Or at least go have your BP taken.
  18. I agree, Dr. Nick Nicholson and his office staff are great. Very easy to deal with and you can call or email them anytime with questions. Baylor Plano really has it together with weight loss surgery patients. I highly recommend Dr. Nick in Plano.
  19. Yeah! Glad to hear everything went well. But make sure to take that pain medicine, don't suffer. Your body heals faster when your not hurting. Hugs to you.
  20. Usually if your self pay you don't have to do the nut classes unless your doc wants you too. Once you set up a payment plan, you can set up your surgery. Which means you could do it in a few weeks or months. Not next year. Why can't you drive to Louisana? 13 hours is not bad compared to paying over $1000 for plane tickets. I'm sure there is someone close to you what offers the cash payment prices. Just call around. It may not be advertised. Ask for recommendations of doctors in your state from people on this site. Then start calling their offices. You might be surprised.
  21. Wow, that is one complex journey. I'm so happy you are doing well today and you got to be at your daughters wedding. I can not imagine going through so many complications. Good luck to you.
  22. Nina, everything will be ok. I know how you must feel. I thought about writing my youngest a letter, but I didn't. Instead I just told him one day how much I loved him. But not in a way to scare him. I think my daughter who is 25 was more worried about losing me than anyone else. She just didn't relax until I texted her a pic after my surgery to show her I was ok. It's natural to have these feelings. But you are going to be ok. And by doing this, you will be healthier for your children. Good luck sweetie. Try to relax and just enjoy this next week with your kiddo's. Hugs to you.
  23. Wow, glad your sleeve went well. Sorry you are going to have to have another surgery though. Good Luck.
