    The Harvest Moon Challenge

Checking in today at 291. That's -4 lbs!
  2. amiller1010

How much have you taken off???

I've lost 53 lbs. That includes my two week pre op diet so it's been 13 weeks which averages to about 4 lbs a week!

    Your weigh Ins

My starting weight was 345 Day of surgery (June 20th) - 326.8 1st week - 316.8 2nd week - 318.2 (went on soft food) 3rd week - 319 4th week - 316.5 (had first fill 2.5cc) 5th week - 309.4 6th week - 308.8 7th week - 307 (had 2nd fill 1.5 cc) 8th week - 298.8 (had unfill -1 cc) 9th week - 297.2 10th week - 295.6 11th week - 292 As you can see I even GAINED weight before my first fill, even though I wasn't eating much. My body was holding on to everything after the liquid diet, but then it started coming off rather quickly! Just be patient it will happen!
  4. Congrats!!! I can't wait until I get there!

    Yay!

Honestly, no I'm not starving myself, and I don't exercise like I should at all (my goal this month is to work out more). I had had 2 fills and an unfill. I don't have the best restriction, but have some. I have another fill on 9/16. I keep track of everything I eat using myfitnesspal.com. It really helps me to see everything I'm eating. I usually stay under 800 calories a day and relatively low carb (75g/day or less most of which comes from fruits, veggies, nuts, and whole grains.). 13 of mine was the week after surgery and then I only lost like 2 lbs until my first fill which is when it really started coming off. The band will not make you quit eating, you have to listen to your body and stop when you are satisfied. It also won't make it impossible to eat certain foods. Some people keep a really tight band, but I don't like it. I can eat anything, but choose not to eat certain things. Also, watch the liquid calories. You have lost 20 lbs in 8 weeks (including your pre op), so that averages to 2.5 lbs a week, and the "average" is 1-2 lbs a week. You are doing great, don't compare yourself to other people, this is your journey and yours alone!

    Yay!

I had surgery on 6/20/2011 and normally I weigh in on Tuesdays. When I weighed on Tuesday I was half a pound away from losing 50 lbs. So I weighed myself today and I have lost 50 lbs! I am so excited. I have also dropped 2 dress sizes! I am SO happy with my band!

    Non low-carb bandsters

Hi everyone. My doctor is really big on a low carb diet. He wants us to have 30g or less per day. I've followed it and lost 48 lbs since June 6th, but I am getting very burnt out. I am just wondering how many people have been successful on just a low calorie/low fat diet. I know the choice is mine in the end. I still want to keep it lower carb (like 50g a day), but I am just wondering how many people have had success including carbs. I am just going crazy lol. Maybe I should just try it for a few weeks and see how it goes?

    BAND VS. SLEEVE

You already know my reasons but I will tell you again...the thought of them cutting out my stomach scared me, and there just wasn't enough long term research for me. You will figure out what is best for you, I promise

    Non low-carb bandsters

We were actually banded on the same day, I just include my two week pre op diet in my weight loss total
  13. I have Tricare Prime, and the whole process was pretty easy. I didn't have to do the 6 month supervised diet. From start to finish the whole process was about a month and a half. Good luck to you!!!
  14. Hi everyone. I hope someone can help me. I was banded on 6/20/2011, and for the past month I have alot of nausea. Like almost every day I wake up nauseous and luckily I have nausea meds from my doc. It's just weird that it is every day. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, for the ladies, does the surgery tend to make your TOM irregular. Now before surgery I was never completely regular, but usually went a two months with out it.I have had it twice, but they were only about a week and a half apart and have lasted a little longer than normal (however have been lighter). I'm sorry if it's TMI, but I don't have anyone else to ask. Please help!! Thank you in advanced for your responses!

    Please Help!!

I took a test today and it was negative. On the plus side, no nausea this morning! I'm going to call the doctor now about everything else. Thanks for your replies everyone!

But...that wouldn't explain my period. I can see where you would think that though lol.

    Treadmill Stress Test

I had to walk until my heart rate went above 160. Notice I said walk, because I really didn't run. I was nervous too, but it was easy. Don't stress about it!

    BEER ON THE BAND

My doctor says carbonation is ok as long as you can tolerate it, but wouldn't want me to drink the empty calories.
  20. amiller1010

    Carbonated Drinks

My surgeon actually says as long as you can tolerate them, you can drink them, but every surgeon is different. Talk to him about it, you never know what he might say.

    Surgery Center versus Hospital

Dr. Pinnar did my surgery at Baptist Hospital. My BMI was to high for them to do it at the surgery center, so I would guess the hospital would be a better choice. That's just my opinion though, you have to do what you are comfortable with. Congrats on your surgery. They are both amazing doctors and I'm sure you will do great!

    NSV!

Last night my hubby hugged me and said "I can tell you've gotten smaller, my arms fit around you better!" I was so happy. I don't really notice the weight loss, so it's nice to know that other people do. I have an amazing hubby who would love me no matter what, but I'm glad he is noticing!
  23. What would you guys say was the hardest about this procedure post op and pre op,also did you guys vomit alot i realy hate to vomit i have a thing about it. The hardest part? Honestly, the liquid pre-op diet and I only had to do two day of Clear Liquids (water and broth), some people have to do two weeks of liquid and some people don't have to do it at all. As for the vomiting, you might be nauseous from the anesthesia and pain meds, but they will give you nausea meds for that. You shouldn't vomit regularly. I've only had one fill and from my understanding if you vomit everyday you are too tight. I'm pretty new to everything (surgery 6/20/2011), but hope I could help! Good luck!!

    low carb tortillas?

I had my first fill on 7/19 and have been on liquids since. Tomorrow I get to start soft food and was wondering if low carb tortilla wraps are considered soft? I'm not sure and don't want to mess anything up. I know people have trouble with it, but figure I won't know till I try. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

    low carb tortillas?

Tortillas are not soft food/soft is usually considered anything you can mash with a fork..... Ok I was unsure because my doc also considers chicken and ground beef soft food. Thank you!
