  1. I qualified through Tricare and I had no co-morbidities. Your BMI is 52.6. You should qualify also. I was 5'1" and 345, so my BMI was definitely high enough. You can always check Tricare's website also. Good Luck!!
  2. The only thing I can't eat anymore is un-toasted bread. It doesn't matter if it's white or wheat, it just gets to doughy. I use Wasa crackers now, or make sure I toast my bread. I really don't miss it to much though. The scale makes it all worth it!
  3. I eat between 600 and 800 calories a day and have lost 68 lbs since June 20th. I think you just have to figure out what works for you though.
  4. I'm checking in today at 277.6. That's another 2 lbs gone...and I'm on vacation so I am very happy about that!!
  5. My hubby and I have to make a trip to Indiana for some family things. His dear great grandma is 95 and is having a hard time, so we want to go visit her. We are staying with his dad and step-mom, who I love. I am just worried about eating. They eat differently than we do. A lot of processed and fried food. They don't really cook, so they eat out alot, which I am ok with because then I can make my own choices, but am worried about what to do at their house. I really don't want to gain any weight. I would be very happy to stay the same, as long as I don't gain. I don't want to be rude or hurt their feelings. I'm just so scared...I haven't vacationed with the band yet. Please if you have any advice let me know.
  6. Checking in at 279.4. That's - 3.2 lbs, which is nice because the last two weeks the scale didn't move much. That makes almost 66 lbs (65.6)!
  7. Thanks! I've just been logging my food and following my doctor's diet. I eat between 600 and 800 calories a day and less than 45 grams of carbs (sometimes it is higher, but never more than 75). I admit I don't exercise like I should, but that is one of my goals. Also, I don't snack and I don't usually eat slider foods. I have been at a stand still for 2 weeks so hopefully walking will help with that!

  9. Hey everyone. I was banded n 6/20/11 and have lost 62 lbs (including my two week pre op diet). I'm happy with my band and progress, but the last two weeks I haven't dropped any weight. I eat between 600-800 cals a day ( I can't eat anymore than this) and about 60 grams of protein a day. I drink my water, and I will admit I don't work out as much as I should. It's starting to get a little cooler down here, so I plan on walking every night now. I just don't know what to do. I make good choices and I don't snack. I got off my period about 2 weeks ago, but I don't know why that would make me hold on to weight. Do y'all have any advice? I need help, I don't want to fail at this. Thank y'all in advance.

    The never ending "."

The same thing happened to me. It will get better. I was on mine for 6 weeks. It sucked. The doc did all the tests and everything was fine, so she said it was hormones from losing weight. It finally stopped about a week ago! I was excited for that, but I haven't lost any weight since I quit my period, wonder if people retain water or bloat after their period...I never used to keep track.

    The Harvest Moon Challenge

Ashlee checking in at 282.6...same as last week. I'm pretty sure I'm retaining water. Is it normal to retain water the week after your period? I never kept track before surgery.

  14. My doctor says carbonation is fine as long as you can tolerate it, so I'm sure you will be fine.

    Woo-hoo!

I weighed in today and have lost 61 lbs! I am so happy, I can't wait to lose more. I already feel so much better. I am so glad I chose to do this, it is one of the best decisions I've ever made!

    Woo-hoo!

Thanks everyone! Today has been 3 months since my surgery (6-20-11), and it was nice to get on the scale and see that it's working. I was so scared that I would get surgery and still fail, but I haven't, and the more I lose the more I WANT to lose! I still have a long way to go, but I am on my way!

    TOM...

Hi I was banded on 6/20/2011 and have lost 55 lbs! I'm happy with my band, and glad I did it. I'm sorry if the following is TMI, but i need some advice. Anyways, my period has been so messed up since surgery. I started in July and it was normal. Then a few days later my hubby and I had sex and I started spotting. It lasted about a month and I went to the doctor. She did all the tests...blood work, pap, and even an internal ultrasound. She said everything looked fine and it it probably my hormones from the surgery and from losing so much weight so quickly. Well the last week and a half, I have had my period, but it has been very heavy and its been 10 days. Should I go back to the doctor or just wait it out? I just don't know what to do.

    Head Hunger

Head hunger is when you THINK you're hungry, but physically you aren't. Like if it's "time" to eat, or if everyone else is, you may want to eat, but you aren't actually hungry.

    The Harvest Moon Challenge

Ashlee checking in at 289. That's -2 lbs from last week! I have a fill tomorrow...liquids for 3 days...no fun, especially since its over the weekend, but at least my weight loss will be good haha.

    TOM...

Thank you Cindy. Now I'm just wondering if it will ever end lol.

Help, I am so confused :(

My BMI was even higher than yours. It was 65. Nobody ever told me the band wouldn't work for me. They told me it would come off slower, but I would still lose weight. I had surgery 6/20/11 and have lost 55 lbs. think it is working for me, and I'm sure it would work for you too. You have to do what is right for you. There are a lot of "band bashers" out there, but I think a lot of that is because people only hear about or remember the bad stuff. Good luck on your journey and I hope you make the best decision for you!

    Body By Vi

I've never tried them, but my mom does them and she loves them. I hope they work out for you!

    pizza & chicken nuggets

This made me laugh because I had a dream about food 4 days post op! Everyone thought I was crazy, but I think it was because I just wanted to chew something. Sometimes your body craves salt too, could explain why you are craving those things! It will get better though.
  24. I would definitely do it all over again! I love my band!

    Had my first fill

I'm sure it will be fine. Most doctors only do 24 hours of liquids and then mushy food. Personally, my doctor does 24 hrs clear liquid, 2 days liquid, and then soft food and regular food as tolerated. Yogurt and cottage cheese will be fine, especially if you had no problems with it. Good luck!
