It's been awhile since I posted - although I check the posts all the time. Everyone is so helpful and I have learned a ton of do's and don'ts Well I am 3 weeks post op and have lost 25lbs :bananajump: :lost2.5lbs: I am amazed at how easy this whole process has been so far - I hope it continues. I am really watching my Portion Control - take 25 minutes to eat and CHEW CHEW CHEW - I am trying to stay away from slider type food and focus on Protein. I am a little concerned I am only eating between 500 and 600 calories a day  is this enough? I feel satisfied and stick to the 1/2 cup of food only - sometimes I leave food on the plate because I am satisfied or my 25 minutes is up.... I also excercise every day (every other day add strength excercises to cardio)
I am loving my BAND  But have concerns that I am not eating enough .. I do take Multivitamin and Calcium with D daily .....Any helpful information or advice would be appreciated :thankyou:

Good luck -I am happy for you- WOW A YEAR! You are a strong woman- I do not think I would have lasted that long, patience is certainly not one of my virtues I am just a tad younger than you and your story is soooo similar to mine - I am newly banded and it has been the BEST THING I EVER DID~ :bananajump:

I love Water aerobics 9I just LOVE the water) It is a great work out - If you have an instructor that is good you will get a heck of a work out~ They even use Water weights - I have had back surgery and arthritis in my hips - Water actually will make the pain go away~ So I would say GO FOR IT~ OHHHH And it is FUN
I signed up for water aerobics at the Y, starting in a few weeks. It's 3 mornings a week, 40 minutes per class. Now, hopefully this won't offend anyone, but I definitely associate water aerobics with little old ladies in flowered swim caps I'm 32, and I have osteoarthritis in both knees. I was on antiinflammatories for them before surgery, but I stopped taking it since it was an NSAID. I was hoping by now my knees would be feeling much better, but they're not. So while I've been hitting the gym 2x weekly and doing the elliptical, it's still rough on my knees.
So has anyone here done water aerobics? Is it worth it or is it going to be a waste of my time? I really want the benefits of the water to help me with joint movement and resistance but I'm worried that it's not a good choice. I just don't know!

These are great ideas~ I travel a TON with my job and these ideas will be great!

So sorry to hear - Remember you are doing this for yoruself and noone else- For every door that closes another opens and everything happens for a reason- Just use this time to gain strengh and focus on YOU~
Of coursed you will miss your friend and maybe over time as you feel better about you success's you will be able to be with each other as freinds
-
I researched the lap band for 2 years before taking the big step - while researching I also had the opportunity to watch several people (freinds and co-workers) got thru the process ALL have been successful - some with bad episodes but when I speak with them they admit it was a poor food choice or lack of excercise for the most part as to why something did or did not happen that they experienced.
Reading the positive posts keep me motivated and encouraged! - the bad ones I use as a WARNING- it helps me to stay on track and make sure I do all the right things to avoid the bad- You need to also remember although some of the bad stories are not the fault of the banded person - In my opionion when you read deeper into some of the bad you will notice the bad things occur because of poor choices on the banded person's part Sorry if I hurt anyones feelings just my 2 cents for whatever it is worth

I was wondering the same thing I am 2 weeks post op and excercise daily and my calorie intake is around 500 -550 per day-- i do feel full when I eat - trying to stick to mushie solids with high Protein. Is this going to cause me to stop losing weight?
-
YOU LOOK FANTASTIC! I am 2 weeks post op and you are an inspiration

Everybody heals differently but I would say if he did the surgery Thursday you could go to work Monday - I have 3 employees that were banded within the last 2 years and they did the same thing - surgery thursday then long weekend -- I work from home, if I am not traveling and was able to work at my home office Friday (of course be careful with responding to emails and phone with pain meds could be an issue
I haven't had my surgery yet or even started the pre-op diet. But I'm very close, I'm hoping at my next appointment I can get a date. I was wondering how much time did you take off work after your surger? My doctor says 2-3 weeks if I can get time off, if I absolutely can't get time off he said he can do the surgery on a Thursday and I can go back on Monday. I do administrative work so no heavy lifting or anything of that type. We get 10 sick daysa year at work, which I have 7 remaining and I can probably take an extra week or two off.

Congrats by day 3 your stomach will adjust and be happy for the most part
Hello everybody! My name is Stacey, and I'm 19 years old attending FSU. About a week ago I got the all-clear for surgery and it's scheduled for the 6th!! That means today is day one of the liver shrinking diet (1200 calories and 65 grams of protein/day) and I have to say my stomach is not too thrilled thus far. Mentally I'm good to go though, and I'm so ready for this change. Anyway, I just thought I would introduce myself before I go sifting through the infinite posts on the site Hope you all have a lovely day!

Sometimes I skip Breakfast if I am not hungry - When I am on the go I will whip up a choc Protein Shake with half of a small banana or a yogurt adn half a banana (you can eat these if you are in aa rush since they are :sliders: and you have less of a chance of sliming and/or vomit
