  1. Heating pad will help with the gas

I got banded July 21st and I am having some post op pain. I am extremely sore from all the gas in my cavity and I feel like I have to burp every time I eat or drink. I do not burp which makes it more uncomfortable. I am pretty sure all is still okay from the procedure b/c I have not vomited and can keep some solids down. Anyone have any tips on getting rid of the gas? Walking helps some and gas-x does not help at all. From what i've read, time is the only thing that will help. Also, i hiccup every now and then and it is very uncomfortable. Is that normal?

  2. Yes we have all had the hungers after surgery I am not a doctor, however if you are suppose to be on clear liguids you want to stick to the doctor instructions, You need to heal and the staples and the band need time to adjust. You do not want to hinder the healing process - drink extra Clear Liquids and lots of Water or crystal lite - Kool aid has some great sugar free flavor drinks as well - Jello is good Good luck

Hello all, I am almost one week post-op, and have been "cheating" by eating pea-sized pieces of Peanut Butter, teaspoons of cottage cheese, sugarfree pudding, applesause, and Tomato Soup in teaspoon-like servings. I have been so hungry, and I hope I;m not doing any damage by doing this, but I just can't get through with liquids alone. I eat these things a few times a day, not continually. I have lost 7 pounds since surgery. I think my doctor would kill me if she knew. Has anyone had a similar post-op experience?

  3. Flying is not an issue - I fly every week for work (on 4 planes minimum each week) and have no problems - I have heard you can get a little tight when get int he air and when land ev erything goes to normal however I have never experienced tightness when flying Have fun on your trip -- just be careful of alchol low calories and flying make you super tipsy :)

  5. I travel by plane every week for work ( 4 airports a week usually) and the band is not detected - since it is made with silcione it does not cause any problem's :)

The staff gave me a packet from Lapband.com and in it was a temporary card I could use until after surgery and then I sent in the form this morning to receive my permanant card. I don''t know if you can go to the lapband site and request one.. Maybe you could call your weightloss center and ask them for this packet.

I was also wondering if it will be hard going through the airport because of the port. If so this card would come in handy.

  6. I could not agree more - many of these people are jsut jealous keep up the good work~

22 pounds in 7 weeks is fantastic, I would tell those so called friends to (well I shouldn't say that here, huh?)

I know this sounds alittle evil, but I would tell your friend "Your right you better not get it" then keep doing what your doing and watch her squirm as you get skinny!!!! LOL and everytime she asks how much you have lost say "oh, still only 22 pounds....." and smile.

Don't let anyone let you think that 22 pounds isn't great because it is. :)

  7. I am not a doctor so you do need to check with your surgeon however a HIGH A1C should nto delay surgery- I was /am a Diabetic with an AIC of 8.5 ON AVERAGE- As of 2 weeks prior to my surgery I have not taken any Diabeties meds at all~ I cant wait till Aug 1 when he drwas blood work again-- I am confident my A1C will be just right-- I heard lapbands do wonders for Diabetics and it sure does~

  8. You will do great- my doctor also sells shakes-- they are a little pricey...but ones I actually enjoy, so I continue to get them thru his office.

Depending on your job will depend on your time off needed. If it is a desk job you would not need 2 weeks for sure, i had surgery on a Wed - worked from home Friday and was traveling (by plane and car) on the following Wed

Good luck and keep us posted

  9. Howdy from San Antonio TX --Just thought I would give a shout out to all the June Bandsters to see how everyone is doing?

I myself am doing pretty darned good-- Losing weight -a little slower than I would like but hey I will take it~ Inches are coming however a nice pace (in my opionion HA HA)

Haven;t had any major issues happen- band related

OH I DID HOWEVER FALL DOWN THE STAIRS AT MY HOTEL THIS WEEK ON THE WAY TO THE FITNESS CENTER, OUCHIE~ Rug burn and a big ole black and blue --

Cardio at least 6 days a week 45 minutes a day and strenghth excercises 3 days a week (I don;t excerceise on the day I travel home from whatever office I am at that week) For those who do not know I travel a ton for work

Would love to hear form everyone Make it a GREAT DAY :Banane20:

  10. That is exactly what happened to me! I told one co-worker (she had the band put in 2years ago) and boom she told EVERYONE But no big deal she was excited for me and all but one person is supportive and have been great -

If I do get a band, my wife will know, and thats it. I hate the minute you tell one person, and they swear not to tell anyone, BAM it spreads like wide fire.

  11. If you get stuck DO NOT DRINK ANYTHING COLD~~~ Only drink warm or hot liquids when stuck - Cold may cause more issues and not move the item down\

I cant eat without drinking and my doc and nut are aware of this. but i would be loosing more weight if i did follow this guideline. if you dont drink then the food sits at the band longer and causes you to get full quicker. when you drink you wash the food right through the band. now if you get something stuck and it gets painful then drinking can push it through so it doesnt hurt anymore.

  12. The cheese pizza sounds great~

Hi Guys! It's been three weeks since I was banded on the 1st and everything so far is good. I've lost a total of 23lbs between the pre-op and after. I just started soft foods and go for my first fill on August 9th.... so excited. I wanted to share a couple of satisfying recipes I found on here that are really good.

Fat Free Refried Beans mixed with a little salsa and fat free cheddar cheese. Microwave for 30s - 1m and top with a small amount of FF sour cream... Very Good

Put some FF or reduced fat Mozzarella cheese in a non stick frying pan, in the shape of a small pizza... top with some Turkey Pepperoni (run it through whatever you used for your pureed diet). When cheese is melted use a spatula to get it out of pan. When it's done you can dip it in some Pasta sauce... I used some sausage flavored sauce and it was very good.

Hope all you guys are doing great!
