  1. Happy 44th Birthday LostLucy!

  2. Happy 43rd Birthday LostLucy!

  3. Chewing the food and spitting it out! What a great idea. I never thought of that. Thanks. I am on my way to get a candy bar. Just kidding. Really, this is a super idea though. I bet it does help tons. Lucy
  4. I am 13 days postop now. I actually did go insane (ask my family). I was so sick and flipping tired of fruity drinks, Jello, popsicles, and broth. I thought I would barf any second. When do you get to move to full liquids and out of clear liquids? (My full liquids started day 7 and consists of creamed soups, oatmeal, cream of wheat, milk, Protein shakes, etc.) When I started my full liquids, I was a new person. Who would of thought how fabulous a bowl of cream of wheat could taste??? LOL. I start mushie/blenderized foods tomorrow. I am pumped! It feels like you won't survive this phase and you are probably thinking you made a mistake, but you have not. It will be over before you know it. I know that does not help now cuz you are probably about to start eating anything with some consistency to it even if it's not edible. Hang in there! Hugs, Lucy
  5. Peppermint tea! Jolly! Thanks. I am now13 days out and am actually doing better. Still tender and some off-and-on heartburn but nothing like that crap in the beggining. This place is great. Lucy =D
  6. Oh my gosh, I fell off my chair laughing at some of the cute responses. I needed the laugh today. Thank you. I work in the medical field and when I see naked hoo-hoo, hoo-ha, pooty or whatever, it is like looking at the side of a car. Try not to stress out over this. They don't give a rip about our pooties. I promise. I was more hysterical about being inflated with air and looking like an inflated pig on a tiny operating table with my poor thoobies flopping into my arm pits when I laid on my back....Oh my gosh, I hope they were looking at my pooty instead. My poor saggy body. LOL. (Hope we made ya feel better!) Lucy
  7. Thank you both for responding. I have been so worried about a slip. I will give it a few more days. I do go in for a followup appointment tomorrow and will see what the doc says then. I have been disappointed because they told me I would have NO pain (I have pain from the surgery and heartburn) and could return to work the next day (which was impossible as I stayed overnight in the hospital). I got home and the dang port site was oozing a large amount of discharge. No one told me that would happen. I guess it was a normal thing because I called the doctor. It would have been nice to now though since my stupid discharge papers said to call if I had increased discharge from the incision sites. I had NO discharge in the hospital so I got a bit fuh-reaked out! I am just bummed over my little tiny journey so far. One more thing, I NEVER want to see Jello again in my life. LOLOL. Thanks for being here all and hugs, Lucy
  8. Is it normal to have bad heartburn after surgery? I have been given Prevacid (I think that was it) to take once daily but still burp and hurt. :think Does this mean a slip? Should I call the doctor or should I just chill and ride the postop wave and see what happens? Ugh, I hope I haven't made a mistake having this thing put around my gut. I am so depressed, hungry, and I hurt. Thanks for any help in advance, Lucy

    Hello from Idaho!

Wow! Thank you for posting everyone. I really appreciate the responses. Does anyone know if more people are satisfied with thier band decision (long term) than people who are dissatisfied. I have read some where else on the internet about some who have had disasters with it but most seem to be positive outcomes??? Kity, no Optifast, no nuttin' for me. She gave me three food groups: 9-11 servings of lean protein/day, 2 fruit servings a day, and all-you-can eat non-starchy veggies. (I am gonna die! LOL) Thanks again all. I am so glad I found this nice little corner of the world. =)
  10. Hello all, I started attending seminars/classes for the LapBand procedure in August 2006. I went through four months of insurance red tape and was finally approved this week. (I think they were waiting for January to roll around, so I would have to pay a new deductible. ) My surgery is scheduled for February 1, 2007. Aaaack! Only two weeks away. :omg: I start the "liver shrinking diet" tomorrow. :rose: I was so excited about this procedure. When I found out I was approved, I became hysterical. I am so afraid of bad side effects and failing. I am afraid of the adjustments it will make for myself and my family. I am ready to back out. I am so addicted to food. :hungry: I am afraid I will find a way to cheat by sucking down milkshakes or something and that I will stay fat forever and will waste my money on this expensive procedure. I am afraid of being crabby and miserable because I love food and will miss it; although, I am crabby and miserable because I have food now :phanvan (told ya I was hysterical)! I welcome any advice/support/experience (good or bad) as I prepare to walk this new road. Thank you for this forum and being here! Lucy
