  1. 10 days post surgery I had coffee. I couldnt stand it. No problems. Today is my one year sleeviversary. Down 55 lbs and 5 to go.
  2. I appreciate your response. My sis is much better this morning
  3. My sis just got out of surgery. Coughing a lot. Fluid in lungs. Anyone else have this kind of reaction to anestesia?
  4. 7 days before surgery with Dr. Kelly in TJ I ate protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and then protein and a salad for dinner. Three days before surgery I had jello, broth, fruit juice (all clear liquids). Had no problems whatsoever, but my BMI was 35
  5. My hair started falling out at 3 months. I'm now 6.5 months post surgery and it's still falling out. Have heard from others that is stops around 7 months. I hope so. I feel I've lost 25-35%. Fortunately I have very thick hair and noone has noticed except me. I'm grateful it is temporary.
  6. I started dieting a month before surgery so I was already losing weight. I had the surgery on Thursday and was back at work on Tuesday morning. Only missed one day of my morning walk with my friend. I have been exercising 5+ days a week. Nobody suspects I had surgery. Only my huband, and a few close relatives know about my surgery. I'm not going to tell anyone. I will just continue to eat right and exercise as not to gain the weight back. Surgery is the best thing I ever did for myself. I won't be judged or hear jealous comments if nobody knows. I personally like it this way. I'm glad I have a choice to tell or not to tell. Good for those of you who want to tell.
  7. I've had many stalls in the past 6 months. They always pass and I suddenly lose 3 or 4 pounds. Be sure to eat a variety of foods and not the same thing day after day.
  8. I'm 50 years old and almost 6 months post surgery. Been losing more hair than normal for about 2 months which was to be expected. When does the hair loss slow down? I hope soon.
  9. 16 weeks out and 46 lost. 14lbs to go. This is the best thing I ever did for myself
  10. I walk briskly 2.7 miles M W F and go to Curves T Th (3 times around the circuit). Then walk the dogs on Sat or Sun.
  11. I only dieted for 7 days. 4 days if protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and then protein & veggies for dinner. Then 3 days of clear liquids. The clear liquids were the hardest part. I ate a lot of finger jello made with SF jello mixed with half water and half grape juice.
  12. Surgery on Sept 1st, 2011. 40 pounds gone for eternity. 20 to go!
  13. Snoozy, I was sleeved Sept 1st and at 8 weeks out I had a 1/2 glass of wine. It took me three hours to finish it. It didn't feel as good as I hoped. I'll try again at Thanksgiving when I'm 12 weeks out. Lots of sleevers can have beer but they say it takes a while to finish one.
  14. My BMI was 35 and I had 60lbs to lose. No problems with approval and no problems while I was there. I love Dr. Kelly. I used "A Lighter Me".
  15. Luvin, People wouldn't be so jealous if you weren't so cute. Hold your head high and try to let it roll off your back. I think we just have to take it in stride and be grateful we are not the ones green with envy.
  16. Peacequeen, I feel so bad for you. You've waited so long already. Hang in there. I didn't qualify to have surgery in the states, so I went to Dr. Kelly in TJ Mexico. I'm so gratefull to even have that option. I'll be praying for you and your decision makers.
  17. Bought a coat 4 years ago......that wouldn't fit around my hips. I can now zip it up with two inches to spare. Love my Sleeve!
  18. I went through "A Lighter Me" and my surgeon was Dr. Kelly. Cost was $5560 plus airfare. Best thing I ever did for myself. Post surgery has been a breeze for me. Sometimes I miss the large quantities of food I used to eat, but I then look at all the size 20 pants I no longer fit into and smile. It feels so good to "not be hungry". I have had a hard time keeping up my daily calorie count. It takes work to get the calories up to 600-700. I know I should be having around 1000 but just can't squeeze it in yet. I love my sleeve!
  19. Good for you! What a difference. Can't wait to see the 1 year pics. Isn't life grand when you're not carrying all that extra weight.
  20. My surgery lasted 38 minutes. I was very healthy except for my extra 60lbs. Surgery was Thursday afternoon. I spent two nights in the hospital and two nights at the Lucerna hotel in TJ Mexico. I walked about 1.5 miles on day 3 and 4. Dr Kelly wants his patients to stick around 4-5 days after surgery to make sure all is well before heading home.
  21. Dr Kelly was my surgeon on Sept 1st. Not one problem. He's a class act. I completely trust him. My husband trusted me to do my homework and I did. LOVE MY SLEEVE!
  22. Only my husband, parents, sis and bro-in-law know. I don't plan on telling anyone else. I've been dieting since August 1st and had surgery Sept 1st. People at work notice me drinking protein shakes and losing weight. I told them I'm doing the high protein and low carb thing. Nobody suspects WLS and I'll keep it that way. It's nobody's business. I excercise hard and eat less. That's all they need to know. I'm just not going to open up that can at work. I would regret it.
  23. If you even considered surgery, you were probably at the end of your rope. Let go of the rope and grab the sleeve. I'm seven weeks out and cannot believe the freedom I feel and the money I'm saving on junk food. I've had no complications....Praise the Lord! Be sure to follow your doctor's advice and don't stray. I can't wait to read your posts post-surgery. Good-bye rollercoaster!
  24. I feel like a kitchen sink. When I eat any solid, I gurgle for about 10-15 minutes after. Anyone experience this? I'm 6 weeks post-op. When might this little inconvenience stop? It's so loud. I hope I'm never in a quiet room with my co-workers after I eat. I STILL LOVE MY SLEEVE!
  25. I was sleeved by Dr. Kelly in TJ on Sept 1st. The doctor is first class. My surgery took only 38 minutes. I have had no complications. I'm pretty healthy and had 60 lbs to lose. My surgery was on Thursday afternoon and I was back at my desk job on Tuesday morning. I'm a private person and nobody at my work suspects I had WLS. I would highly recommend surgery in TJ with Dr. Kelly. I can't speak for other doctors. I spent two nights in the hospital and then two nights at the Lucerna Hotel in TJ. It was beautiful. My sister and I felt very safe walking up and down the streets. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to even have the surgery. I couldn't pay 18K+ in the states.
