I regret it every day! I regret being more healthy and fitting into smaller clothes! I regret the fact that my neck is now visible. I regret that it's easier to walk and I regret that I added ten to fifteen years to my life. . . Man food is WAY more important then all that! I'm so ungrateful!

You will not really encounter a "full" sensation until you are on solids at week 4-6. We all start solids at a different post op date depending on the advice of the doctor and NUT. For example, I started at week 5.
However, once you do start solids, follow the basic eating rules better then I did!!
    1. Do take 20-30 minutes to eat a meal. Best I could do was 10 minutes. This was my primary cause of sliming, burping, sneezing, farting and hiccuping. Imagine doing all of these at the same time and you will not be surprised when your wife/husband has 911 on speed dial. Lol.
    2. Put your fork down in between bites; it is not going to walk away. Never could do this very well and it might have contributed to 1.
    3. Do not drink with food (wait 15 min after last drink and wait 45 minutes for another drink). Did not violate this one.
    4. Eat high quality Protein first. Start out 1-3 ounces and work your way up to 3-5 ounces as the months go by. I had no issue with this one.
    5. Measure your food to be no more then 1/3 a cup or 3 ounces on the scale. I could do this well. Document your food quantities for as long as you need to.
Again, heed my pain comments above a couple posts. Not fun. Gets old after x times. If you follow rule the rules above, you should be able to stop before full and not go into pain zone.
    Good luck!!

Fyre, probably. But not with your full sensation. I love your humor. Normal people can never come up with something witty so quickly.

I was going to say the same thing. In the beginning there are the burps, the hiccups, the runny nose if you get close to full. And then the pain if you eat past that. After a while, you finally get a 6th sense to just know before the triggers even kick in. However, you do need to listen and take notes in order to develop and be aware of the sense.

I agree with you Laura, and John and Amanda. There are alot more people with regrets. I was at a support group meeting and this guy openly stated that he sees something that he wants and really wants to just eat it all and he can't. This is why he regrets it. It is truly a mental thing. I myself do not regret it, but I need to put in alot of work on the mental part of it. I realize this and I am scheduling my psych appointment along with a nutritionist. My doctor was a lapband doc who didn't have a full program of aftercare or recommendations, just a sheet that says if you need it, its here. I know the mental part is the hardest for me, but I have researched WLS for 3 years before I got it done. Sad to see people have had major surgery to change their lifestyle but regret it because they have to still work for the weight loss.

I'm wondering if after having the surgery some people are realizing that it's not easy like they thought it would be. I will admit I use to think that if I could just have WLS I would magically get thin and my whole life would be different and better and I would never be fat again. LOL Well that ain't so! You still have to work at it, thin doesn't change everything in your life but your size and you certainly can gain weight again. It's just a thought.

I wanted to eat! I love to eat! I had this surgery to essentially "take my free will away" for a expanded amount of time so I could further work on these issues. This is what I signed up for, pain from a major surgery and the ability to eat copious amounts of "bad" food ripped away from me!!!!
    Ok deep breath rant over
    Edit;
That's my favorite "I just don't like the shakes"
    Ok now I'm done hehehe

I know how you feel. Took me 2 years to get approved, worried the whole time I wouldn't qualify. But eventually I did, and it was all worth it. Keep your head up and don't give up, you won't regret it, I never have regretted the struggle to get approved good luck with your journey.

Even your under wear will start to feel lose after a while. If this happens, you know you have a good thing going. Little small things like this are little reminders when the scale is dead and has no pulse. At this time, you could do the humane thing by shooting it and putting it out of it's misery.

Do you measure yourself? Muscle takes up less space per pound than fat due to the molecules being closer together. As muscle increases more calories are burned which will get at the fat eventually. Your body infuses Water into muscles after strenuous exercise for healing which accounts for immediate weight increase. It eventually drains off.
I have been stalled in the neighborhood of my goal weight for months. I have steadily stepped up my exercise program. I continue to lose fat as evidenced by how my clothes fit and how I look. Muscle cuts are emerging like rocks when the Water level goes down.
Do you really think you can eat small and correct, drink sufficiently, exercise more, and retain fat over the long run? If you are indeed one of our species that would be quite unlikely.
You are quite ahead of where I was at your stage. I never sweated the slow drop. Goal weight was my destiny, my body had no choice.

So hello VST peeps! Today is the day! I can honestly say the sleeve gave me my life back. It's been a heck of a journey. I am not at my ultimate goal of 200# down, but so far I have lost 145#...so just a few more steps and I will get there. I also encourage everyone to take measurements from beginning to end because I am happy to report I have lost a total of 48.5 inches from all over my body...wild huh? I wanted to share a pictorial journey with you . So here we go!
    Me 12 hours before surgery

    Me 6 months post op

    Me at 9 months out

And me today right before my workout

So that's my story ..it's still a work in progress but with hard work, dedication, and diligence, it's becoming, finally, a reality!
