    May 2011 Bandsters Report In

Hello fellow May Lapbanders! Here's my update: I am doing quite well. I am now 10 days since my band and I feel pretty good. I have been able to eat some really ripe soft fruit, and scrambled egg and homemade potato soup. I love getting to eat something finally. I found out that I still eat too fast. I am learning to eat just a small amount and more slowly, that's the key. You can always eat something again in a couple of hours. I have lost 7 pounds so far. How are the rest of you May Lapbanders doing?

    LapBand,Vs Bypass,Vs Sleeve blah blah

I appreciate what you said. I was having a little anxiety after I had my lap band (May 24) because my husband was talking to a few ladies that had had the band, and were getting the sleeve because of one problem or the other. But here I was, going into surgery, it was no time to change. So, then I have read a few negative things about the band here on the forum, and frankly got a little nervous. But, like any TOOL, you have to use it properly. They all require us to put work into it. But I like the idea of the reversible and adjustable band, and I am getting more confident every day that I made the right decision. Of course, it hasn't been a full week until tomorrow. But I am doing real good, already back at work, a little weak and uncomfortable, but I managed. Thanks for venting.

    Confusing stomach feelings

Hey Coley21, just a thought, but have you tried the protein shakes that Bolthouse Farms make? My husband bought me the Protein Plus in chocolate. It tastes pretty good and the entire bottle(32 oz) is 64g of protein. It is 4 servings per bottle at 190 calories. Just a thought for you, also has alot of other vitamins, minerals, etc. I like it.

    May 2011 Bandsters Report In

Hello everybody! I was banded on the 24th of May, and feel pretty good. I have lost 6 pounds so far, with a three day pre-op fast. I haven't used any pain meds, except the first day. So, my only real issue is chronic gas, belching, and diarrhea. But I am really looking forward to this whole journey. I am determined to make this work. I am glad we have support with each other and this whole website. We'll keep each other encouraged, so Go Girls (and guys??)!
  7. This is just my opinion, but if you are not sure, don't do it! The lap band is not a quick fix, but a committment to a lifestyle change. It is a tool, not a "miracle pill". I do not have unrealistic expectations, I know I have to follow the Dr's recommendations and follow the food plan. Also, there is some pain, or at least discomfort after surgery, because it is a surgery! For me, I didn't have enough pain to need pain medications, but still I have had some mild pain. I had my lap band surgery on May 24th, so I am definitely a newbie, but I have talked to alot of people. Some have fabulous results, and some do not. There is no way to tell which one you will be. So, go to a seminar, ask questions, talk to others, and talk to your Dr. until you feel you are sure. Hope this helps.
  8. Hello to all you other May lapbanders, I also was banded on May 24th and am doing pretty well. Other than diarrhea and alot of noises in my abdomen, I am doing quite well. I went to work today and although I am still quite weak from not eating for so long, I made it pretty well. I have some soreness, but no pain. I have only lost 4 pounds since I started the pre-op diet, so I hope that I do better as the swelling goes down. Good luck to you all!

    Confusing stomach feelings

I too was banded on May 24th, and am having alot of gas, burping and most of all, diahrrea! Yuck! My stomach is making so much noise, everyone nearby can hear it. But it sounds to me like this is all part of the process, so I am not going to worry. But does anybody know when I should be able to get rid of all of this? Thanks for any help.
