  1. Props to the people with the stricter diets. I'm on soft diets as well(started on the 4th week post-op)& am 5wks post-op tomorrow. My nut did not give me any sort of list. I came with a list of foods I wanted to know about & she ok'd things like shredded chicken' date=' lunch meat, ground turkey, looked bored & said, "just font eat a lot of crackers". Huh?I did clears jn the hospital,2 wks of full liquid, 2 weeks puréed (blech--I never want to see meat that texture again in my life). I feel full quickly with dense proteins&eggs. I noticed they said no seafood til I'm on regular diet. I've been eating crab since purees. I will never give that up.

I found these websites that have more explicit diet plans:

    http://www.weightlosssurgeon.com/bariatric-surgery-guide/the-first-few-weeks/stage-4-bariatric-diet-soft-foods

    http://www.dukehealth.org/services/weight_loss_surgery/care_guides/bariatric_surgery_diet_manual/the_recommended_diet_following_bariatric_surgery/#stage3[/quote']

Thanks for the info..I'm about seven weeks out

  2. Hello my lovelies! I survived lol. Had my revision surgery from gastric lap band to sleeve this morning. Won't lie' date=' was much worse then the banding lol, but that's to be expected considering they had to fix the mess Dr Felix Speigel made me 5yrs ago and then sleeve me. I woke in the recovery room screaming and pleading for pain medicine and anti Nausea meds, bedding to throw up and for Water or ice to so so. Needless to saw never got Water Didn't throw up and once then for me stable from screaming and crying at them I was put in my room around 1pm.

Since them am feeling much better. Feel like I just did a marathon, 10000000000000 sit ups and twists lol and got a new BFF

Hahahaha my pain med button. Still no ice or water but have a thing to swab a little water across my tongue and lips They should be taking me for a walk at 7pm[/quote']

    How are you doing now

  3. I generally drink a meal replacement shake for this reason. I was never really a breakfast person' date=' and surgery didn't change that. This way I get my Protein and Vitamins and I don't have to cook anything or take the time to eat it.[/quote']

I'm still at home, but as soon as i return to work, i will probably switch over to drinks. My Dr is very adamant on me not doing shakes. He doesn't want me to drink my calories. At times i feel like I'm winging this alone. He said to push the Protein but not in liquid form

  4. Your surgeon or your regular doc? I find that our surgeons' date=' while caring about our aftercare and wanting to make sure we don't have any complications, aren't really our "supporters" oftentimes. For insurance purposes, they often can't see us much...i had a one week appointment, another a few weeks later, and my next is in 5 months...so definately a fly little bird fly situation as well. I get dizziness here and there too and it is scaring the crap out of me as some associate it with a leak (though i don't have other stuff like rapid heartrate, fever, feeling super sick, etc.) so i think it's dehydration...it's hard to get enough Water.

I think docs might worry that protien drinks add calories and then we'll lose slower, but if you are monitoring what you are consuming (i use myfitnesspal dot com) and don't overeat, you'll really start understanding your body and what it can take, and what is in foods....and then protien drinks/bars, might be a helpful supplement. I think all our docs are fairly new to sleeve stuff, that's why there is so much difference in diet and opinion....not to mention that weight loss isn't the only thing gastrectomy is used for. When i looked it up i found that people used to have gastrectomys for ulcer, still do sometimes for cancer, etc...so although our "diets" are different, there is some history out there to say what works well and doesn't with gastrectomys...whether partial or full...just my two cents.[/quote']

Wow..thank you for the info. This has been a very much learning experience for me. At least I'm not vomiting as when i had the band, that's a plus. Again, thank you. Your symptoms sound like mine. I'm still getting the dizzy spells and I'm very dehydrated. I can see it in my face and hands.

  5. I'm dealing with the "not having a bm". I actually called my doctor today about it... waiting for a response if I can take anything for it.

My Dr said said it is normal not to go for days. When i first had my surgery, i didn't go for exactly two weeks two the day. If we are not really eating then nothing is going to come out.

  6. I was sleeved on Oct. 30th. My starting weight 256.8' date=' Surgery day I weighed in at 247, as of Tuesday this week I weighed 228.2. I lost 8 pounds during pre-op diet a week before surgery, so all in all, I am down almost down 29lbs. I weight in on Saturday, tomorrow, so hopefully I've hit my 1st small goal of 30 lbs. :)

    How about you?[/quote']

I was banded April 2011, weighed 267. Had the band removed sept 28 and got sleeved Oct 24 weighing in at 233. Nov 24 i weighed in @ 213. I went to visit my nurse yesterday and the scale says i gained one pound since last week. I'm not sure what's up. Was it the clothes, was it cause i haven't had a bm. That actually surprised and scared me since I'm eating the same.

  7. I know this wasn't asked to me' date=' but I was exactly 4 weeks out yesterday, and I am down 24 lbs.

Went to the doc yesterday for my 4 week post-op f/u appt. I asked about what to eat in stage 3. They said stage 3 is really only about a week and then it becomes trial and error. So she said I can try all soft fruits, soft/steamed veggies, soft cheeses, Beans, oatmeal, moistened ground turkey (like in chili), and a few other things. I'm SO excited about trying new foods. LOL! I think I'm most excited about scrambled eggs, pickles, and chili. :) Hoping at least ONE of those agrees with me! She also said my constant dry mouth and/or feelings of hunger are most definitely due to dehydration. She said the fact that I'm craving salt kinda confirms that. So I REALLY have to push the Water. All in all, it was a good appt.![/quote']

No I'm glad you did. I'm looking for others in my same boat. I'm starting to feel hungry and know i need to push the fluids.

  8. I too struggle with what to eat or at least the "variety" part of it.

I am 4 weeks out... what I have stocked in my fridge is this:

    Greek Yogurt

    String cheese

    RF Colby Jack cheese sticks

tuna ( usually mixed with mustart or LF Mayo)

    SF Popsicles

eggs (usually scrambled w/cheese and bits of ham)

    Protein drinks

    powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup

    SF Jello

I'm at the point where I'd like something different. Cheese is probably my most FAVORITE thing to eat right now... it's so easy to eat and sits really well in my stomach. BUT I believe this probably isn't the best thing for me to be eating.

I would LOVE suggestions on variety and other things.....

I'm four weeks out, what is your weight loss. My diet seems too be the same as yours except my Dr forbids me to have Protein Drinks . I'm getting a little tired of the same ol. With the cold weather i am adding a cup of cream of wheat Cereal for dinner.

  9. It's true that it can cause gas pains' date=' especially when you are so fresh post op. however the farther you are out the more it is tolerated. that forant mean its the best choice for you. it was explained to me that it is not so much that it stretches the stomach permanently, it that the carbonation stretches the stomach when it is in there and creates a larger space, which allows you to put more food in it, and ultimately gain weight back, and set yourself up for bad habits again. This is an opportunity to change bad habits that can lead to weight gain again. So it's more a choice you have to make, in my opinion it's self sabotage to even rationalize it.[/quote']

    Amen

  10. I feel like i eat like a bird. I barely finish an egg. I was told to eat to kill the hunger pangs, and not to eat to get full. One egg fills me, so i guess my Dr wants me to eat 1/4 an egg?? He is dead set against Protein Shakes and says i am to eat my Protein, not drink them. He said i can drink crystal light or Vitamin Water light. I think its mental, but i hate diet drinks. So I'm drinking the regular vitamin water (seems to go down smooth and i just take small slow sips) and try to push plain water also, but that still hurts going down. I don't finish a whole bottle of vitamin water, so i don't consume the full calories in a bottle. I was told to take a regular multi vitamin. And b complex shots are available in the office if i feel i need them. Two days after surgery i was admitted into icu for extreme dehydration. My Dr was against entering me since he said i just need to push the fluids. I couldn't drink a drop and had horrible nausea. I honestly thought i was going to die.

  11. I had my sleeve surgery on Oct 24' date=' last Friday i weighed in and was told i lost 20 lbs. I spoke too the nurse this morning and she said i should have lost more than that. I thought i did great, but now wonder what are others losing in their 30 day post OP check up.[/quote']

My weight in 2011 when i had my lap band was 267. When I went in for my sleeve procedure i weighed 233 October 24. Last Friday, November 23 was 213.

  12. People do this all the time. Go to YouTube and look up Kellawanda. She may be a member here' date=' but I don't remember seeing her on here since I've been around.

She recently had a lower body lift, fat transfer to butt and the arm thing, all at once. She has put up videos from prior to her VSG surgery through reaching goal through having all that plastic surgery done at once. She does a great job of telling it like it is. Go watch. She's a real inspiration.[/quote']

For me my concern will be what is my support during the healing process. Yes, everything is possible BUT for me i would first want to know what type of support will i have at home. You need you're arms to do things and your legs to move around. I'm all for getting it over and done with, but fearful of biting off a little more than i can chew

  13. Hi all' date='

I'm 10 months post and have lost around 110 lbs so far -- which translates into LOADS of excess skin. I met with the surgeon last week and he said I can have all the 'tucks' and 'lifts' that I need in February. I'm super thrilled.

I have so many questions I dont know where to start LOL! I know many of the veterans would have had plastic surgery done once they reached their goals. I would love to hear all of your opinions about these:

    1. My surgeon said I was eligible for arm lift, thigh lift, breast lift and Tummy Tuck. I'm planning to have it all done at the same time. I dont think I'll be able to do it in stages because

    a. the cost for separate procedures is a major issue for me

    b. I'm not sure if I'll have the confidence to go through one more procedure at a later time

    c. the surgeon promised me that he had performed this combination of surgeries many times and it is not a problem

    d. I will not get an extended time off from my work to get the procedure done in stages.

Is it too risky to have all the procedures done at one sitting? Has anyone undergone multiple tucks/lifts at the same time?

    2. How long did you stay out of work after the surgery?

    3. How was the pain? I know everyone will react differently to the surgery but as VST was my first ever surgery and it was a keyhole surgery, I dont have anything to relate the pain to.

    4. If you had had the plastic surgery(ies) done more than 6 months ago, how are the scars healing? What can I expect at around 6 months, say? I am not too concerned about the scars right now because I will pick scars over excess weight any day. But I'm just curious about what to expect.

    5. How long did you have to wear compression garments/support clothing?

    6. If you had tummy tuck: were you advised to take laxatives/stool softener at the beginning after surgery?

    7. I'm sorry if this question is inappropriate here: what is a safe waiting period after tummy tuck to have sex.

I know this is a lot of questions. Sorry! :)[/quote']

I would wonder, ok.. How am i going to move around. Remember, you're thighs will have stitches.. Your arms, tummy, breast.. That's allot of incisions. How will you be able to go potty with your arms in stitches. Stuff like that makes me wonder.
