  1. Wow, I thought I was the only one, Yes My Dr told me a couple of weeks ago, that he will like for me to start on Phentermine,!!!

Like hello what was the whole point of me getting the lapband then

I got banded in June of 2011, I have never been in the Green Zone, I am Either on Yellow or Red

    I have had a total of 15 fills !!! Yes 15

2 of them have been Unfill's, because I couldn't even pass my own saliva

I have lost a total of 20 pounds, However that is not a sucses to me because 15 of them 20 I lost in 2 weeks because I was so tight I couldnt even keep liquids down,

"But get this he tells me well you have lost 20 pounds" Like yes I have because I could'nt eat for 2 weeks, I am so tired of this crap!!

Every time I get a fill, I dont feel hungry but only for 1 week after the week the hunger comes back !!

    It is so Irritating,

I have the 14 cc band, and I now have 10 cc, I was at 10.75 last week but was too tight!

What is the reason your Dr whants to put you on Phentermine?

  2. Wow you were at 13cc on your 14cc band

I to have the 14 cc band, got my band 8 months ago, I have 10.75 cc on my band now

and I have only lost 10 pounds :( Yes only 10 freaken pounds in 8 months!!

there is time when I could eat really good, like if I did not have a band

and there is time, when I canot eat anything!!!

So tired of this, I have never been in that sweet spot that people talk about I am always hungry!!

  3. I got my Band on June 27th 2011, (6 months ago) I am a low BMI'er, Only need to loose 55 pounds

My Dr decided to put in me the 14cc band, (the large band, I honestly think , that is one of the reasons why I have not met the sweet spot yet) I have had a total of 9 fills in 6 months,

I am now at 10.75 in my 14 cc band,

    AND NO SWEET SPOT YET!!!

It is so frustrated!!! I hope I get there!! I have only lost 5 pounds in 6 months, my last fill I couldnt eat for like a week nothing will go down, the next 2 weeks I thought I was in my sweet spot because I was never hungry but that only lasted 2 weeks, and then hunger came back, I am always hungry I could finish my whole plate as long as I chew chew chew, I dont get full.

I really hope and pray that I get to the sweet spot.

  4. Happy Holidays,

Consider your self lucky and blessed I am 6 months out and no weight lost what so ever I am now at a total of 10.5 cc I now have had a total of 8 fills, and I still have not lost a pound!!

So regarding your post, yup the lapband does not work for everybody!

And yes you really will not get it untill you are in someone elses shoes.

  5. Hello I got banded 4 months ago, and still weight the same!! I have not lost a pound, I am now at a total of 10cc in my 14cc band! 2 weeks ago I got to 10cc, the only difference now is that, I get stuck, with bread, chicken or some meats, Before I was at 10cc I was able to eat anything,

So what is Restriction when you fill full with a cup of food, or when u fill food getting stuck?????

I thought that restriction is when u get full, however in my case I am always hungry the only thing is that now I have to chew chew chew so that my food could go down, I dont get full at all, I could still finish my whole plate of food!!!

what happens now is that I eat and if I get stuck I got to the toilet vomit, then wait 5 minutes go back 2 the table and I am able to finish my food! Why because I am hungry, I will like to not even think of food, or to fill full, I am snacking in between meals, because I am still hungry

    dont know just confused!

So is this How I will live for the rest of my life with this tool not loosing any weight and having a hard time eating food?

I rather be Fat and Happy then Fat and miserable!!!!!

  6. Same here I got banded on June 27th and have not lost a pound, I acutally gained 5 pounds, I already have gotten 5 fills and no restriction what so ever!! I am now at a totall of 9 cc's IN my 14 cc band!!!

SO I FEEL YOU PAIn :(

  7. Yea that is how I feel, (that the 14cc band is used for men or people with a higer bmi

I did see My Dr, Yesterday and I question him again on it, and his response was "THAT EVERY ONE HAS A DIFFERENT SIZE OF STOMACH, THAT SOMEONE REALLY SMALL COULD HAVE A BIG STOMACH AND THAT SOMEONE REALLY BIG COULD HAVE A SMALL STOMACH" verry confusing!

but yes from what I see it is going to take more fills to get to my sweet spot :(

I now have a total of 8.5 cc's gosh That is so much, you would think I at least have lost a pound, BUT nope I still weight the same, as the day of my surgery, as a matter of fact I have gain 4 pounds

    timestamp='1316310960' post='1664164']

    sorry....

    Back to the OP........

In my first year of being banded I reached my sweet spot on my 2nd fill. My fills were large amounts to start and I had a 2.7cc fill during surgery. My starting BMI was 41.3. I have a 10cc band and my sweet spot was at 5.3cc. If I had it any tighter at that point, I would have not been able to eat anything but fluids. I stayed at that restriction level for a very long time (10 months or so). Today, I'm 26 months post-op and am at 5.7cc. I have great restriction and the band is doing it's job. I really don't think BMI has anything to do with it. It's the size and thickness of the stomach it's self. Maybe a 10cc band would have worked better for you. It is my understanding that the large 14cc band is used on large men and such.... I think if I were in your shoes, I would go get another fill, and another until I reached restriction.

  8. OMG XAVIER, I am so happy I found you!!!! Your words are so Inspiring, I love how you keep it real girl!!!! from reading everybodys blog/post I kind of felt bad, I thought I was the only one that will not watch what I eat....lol...I am so glad you understood me! I can wait till I am at my sweet spot!

Well I 'only' had to lose 70 to get to normal BMI so of course I had to self pay. I consider myself a low BMIer. I can eat anything or drink anything and I dont chew obsessively...BUT...I can only eat about a half a cup of anything at a time. My husband teases me that I eat so little I am a very cheap date! I can order a regular meal in a restaurant (come'on, girls we all know those portions are for an NFL linebacker, but we know we have eaten them!) and take the rest home and live on it for days!

I LOVE my band because at the right fill level it absolutely prevents me from overeating. I have never dieted, counted calories, eaten diet food or low fat food, or exercised since I had the band, Hell, I had done all that many times before and failed or should I say succeeded in getting fatter everytime i lost then regained the weight?!

I definitely eat and am more than happy with tiny portions but people do notice it when I eat with other people and I just had to get over that feeling of being judged. I didnt tell anyone except immediate fam that I am banded so I think my friends who see how little I eat think I am starving myself and maybe they even think I am judging them for eating the whole restaurant meal. I used to feel bad about that and would even overeat to the point of having to yak to try to cover how little I would eat...I dont do that any more I just dont care what people think! Getting to that point was probably the hardest thing about having the band. I went from a size 16 jeans to a size 6...nuff said!

Juicy, good luck...thanks for friending me and dont listen to people who say its about following the rules and living at the gym (if we could do that...) its all about restriction...fight till you get your RIGHT level of restriction!! After that, its a (tiny) piece of cake!

  9. Thanks for the Info Elcee, yes yu are so right I have to be true to my self, however I am always hungry I can control it, and about the drinks I do fallow that, but sometimes I fell like I am choking and drink Water, so u really dont think it has to do with the size of my band?, I mean I do have a low BMI....I only need to loose 50 pounds, a co-worker of mine also has the large band however she was 300 + pounds and had a big BMI, also I heard that the big band is also used for men....also since my band its so big what happens once I start loosing weight, and then the band needs more adjustments (fills) and I am already haved maxed the band and have no more space available? all that freaks me out!

There are a number of different bands.

The old lapband was 4ml(I think) but this not used anymore except possibly in Mexico.

The newer bands are 10ml and 14ml(again I think). Which band is used depends on the size of your insides not your BMI. The Dr will generally be able to tell which is best once you are "opened" up.

Then there is the Realise band as well. I think this one is 11ml. The difference with the Realise band is that it is a low pressure band and typically more fill is required before any type of restriction is felt. I have even heard of patients with this band being filled to more than the apparent capacity. So you not only need to know the capacity of your band but also which type.

More importantly however is what are you doing? Are you following the rules? That is not drinking with meals or for a min of 30 minutes afterwards, small bites, chewing well. Eating good quality dense Protein and some healthy veg/carbs? Exercising etc.

If you are doing all these things then you should be losing some weight. But it is important that you are honest with yourself. Lots of people don't lose because they think that the band will do all the work, they forget it is only a tool.

Try to forget the term sweet spot. I think it is like the G spot. Some swear it exists others don't. The sweet spot isn't some magical place where you suddenly lose weight with no effort. If there is a sweet spot it is the place where if you are following the rules you can eat a smaller portion than previously of healthy food and not be hungry for 2 - 3, if you are lucky maybe 4 hours afterwards.

    Hope some of this helps.

  10. Hello low BMI Bandsters, does the size of your band matter? I have the large band I got my surgery 3 months ago, I have a total of 8cc's in my large band, I wonder if it's because my Dr, put a large band on me,

if that is one of the reasons why it's taking for ever to hit the sweet spot,

as of today I have not lost nothing :(

I am so frustrated. I have no restriction what so ever! Isn't the large band for people with a higher BMI?

I just think That If my Dr would of put on me the standard band (the smaller one), I would have lost some weight by now

so confused, anyone out there with a low BMI that could tell me what size of band they have and how long/or fills it took to hit there Sweet spot/restriction

    MY bmi is a 34

    thanks :D

  11. Hey US Plus, well I did call my dr's office and was told that I have the large band wich I belive hold up to 14cc's, In the begining on my 1st Dr's visit I did mention to my Dr, after he informed me I had the large band, I did ask why? why large if I have a low BMI? his responce was that when he was doing my surgery he felt that the large will be a better option for me, that if he would of put the standard the smaller one It would of been to tight and verry uncomfertable when I eat, ! However I honestly fell with in my heart that that is one of the reasons why I am not loosing weight, It now has been 3 months since my surgery and have not lost a pound I still weight the same amount from my surgery day, I think because the band is to big for me, IDK, that is just how I fell, I know have 8cc's and like I said no restriction what so ever, IDK lets see what happens my next dr's app, will be Tuesday, and since I am still not loosing anything most likely he will give me another fill! I will keep u posted:)

    THANKS FOR REPLYING:D

Good question, but I believe the answer will be the standard "every one is different" Do you know how big your band is? I had my surgery on 8/17 (lower BMI as well 35-36) and I have a 14cc and had my first fill a week ago for 3cc. I feel nothing, maybe a little bit more than I did before, (I get full quicker, but starving again within an hour or 2).

What I would love to know is what does this restriction FEEL like. I've heard "you eat 1/2-1C of food and are full for 3-4 hours". Do you just KNOW when you've erached that spot??

Good luck! Cant wait to see the responses to this.

  12. Its been 3 months since my surgery, I have had a total of 3 fill's I am now at 8cc's....and feel No restriction what so ever.!!! ..I am always hungry, and I have not lost a pound, however I have noticed that I get stuck with bread or rice I got my 3rd fill last week, but still not felling any diffrence, so I am just wondering If you fell restriction weeks later after your fill.

My 1st fill was at 4cc's....my 2nd fill was at 3cc's and my third fill was 1cc's total now of 8 cc's!

Also could it be that I have a low BMI,(34)

and thats why its taking forever to hit what they say its call the "sweet spot"?

    thanks :)

  13. My main Incision has been bleeding for 6 days now, nonstop!! (I am on my 2 week post of) I have seen my Dr. twice last week and he told me, that it is not that common but it happens sometimes WTH, I could swear I need some stitches but Instead, he gave me some pads and a girdle to hold the pressure! dont see him again till Tuesday, I am just confused and worried I could get an INfection!!!!

Has anyone ever experience this problem?

    thanks

  16. I am 5'4 and 176 lbs. I am tired of struggling. I am getting a lap band in Mexico mid-May. I am very curious how the weight loss will go. I have 2 friends who have had the lap band and both are doing great.

I know my weight doesn't seem like a lot to some but to me it makes all the difference in the world. I don't understand how people can get boob jobs or tummy tucks and that is ok but when someone gets a band so they don't have to be "fat" anymore it is bad or you are cheating. Aren't we all cheating whether it is cosmetic dentistry , botox, boob job etc. I want to be thin and I can't do it on my own.

My goal is 145 by August 2010 and 125 by my anniversary date for a total loss of 50lbs.

OMG I GOT TO SAY I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE, YES ITS SO TRUE HOW COME ITS OK FOR PEOPLE TO GET BOOB JOBS AND Tummy Tuck AND YET ITS OK,

    I AM 5'5 WEIGHT 204 MY BMI IS 33

AND EVERYONE IS SO AGAINST ME, THEY TELL ME THAT WHAT THE HELL I'M I THINKING TRYING TO GET THE BAND, HOWEVER I DID GET APPROVE WILL BE GETTING THE BAND ON JUNE 27, 2011, I AM EXCITED BUT AT THE SAME TIME SCARED, CONFUSED, I JUST DONT HAVE NO SUPPORT :(
