  1. So i booked my flight to back East in September for my bday .. usually I get an aisle seat with a moveable armrest so I am not squishing the person next to me. The last 2 times i have flown.. i actually got lucky and no one had booked the seat directly next to me.. score!

SO .. after booking 10 min ago .. I went to select my seat (always fly American Airlines) and I realized that the specific plane Im on going there... is a 3 seater on both sides of the plane.. usually its 2 seat on one side and 3 on the other. This one has NO moveable armrests ANYWHERE on the plane!! Normally the 2 seater side does not, but the 3 seater side always does... :( Im pretty sure that after losing weight between now and then that I can squeeze my fat ass into it.. but who the hell knows, and how freakin embarrassing :(

I am super worried, super nervous that this is going to be a problem. UGH.. anyone experience this???

  2. Ok .. so I am from the east coast.. and all my family is still there. They dont know it, but I am going home for my birthday September 14 to surprise everyone :) Mind you, no one will see me between now and then!

I was sleeved on June 9th - my question is.. how much can I expect to lose (roughly, as I know everyone is different) by then?? I really really want to look different by the time I go back!!!

So .. Sept 14 is my birthday, and my first short term goal :) LETS GET IT!!!!!

  3. ok so since last night.. i have had this off and on pain that comes and goes at the top of my abdomen, like right under my breasts........... its not SUPER sharp.. but like it makes me kinda like catch my breath for a min then it goes away.. what is this???

Im a bit worried.. but want to know if its related to my drinking, or just part of the whole getting used to a new tummy etc etc.. before i call my dr.

Like i said its not like excruciating.. but its kinda like ouch for a minute then it goes away and comes back off n on.

    anyway have any input?

  4. Hi yb :) First, congrats on ur surgery :D . I have not had my surgery yet, but have read most of ur posts, and although I cant remember what I ate for lunch, and I may be wrong, but I think I read in one or more of ur posts, u were concerned about ur blood pressure dropping, or feeling like weak or dizzy post op, or something like that.....Anyway, Im sure we all have those thoughts. I am totally freaking out though. Those thoughts r in my mind 24/7!!! Cause of all my co-mobilities, I feel like I will experience such horror afterwards like passing out type stuff. Sooooooo.....ultimately.....my question to u is.....have u been drinking the gatorade from the beginning post op?????? Im thinking that will be the only thing that will help me. I know it helps me now when im weak, light headed, dizzy, etc..... I have electrolyte imbalances. I know it sounds crazy, but Im thinking of stocking up on the clear gatorade b4 time. Whats ur suggestion on that, if u dont mind me asking? My surgery was cancelled on June 13th, and Im still waiting to hear from the surgeon as to when my new date will be. In the meantime, although my ins does not require me to do any post op diet, I have been on liquids all week, finally :blink::blink: I cant imagine what it will be like afterwards. Im literally freaking out now. Im starving like a wild animal in the jungle, and totally nasty and miserable. Anyway, thanks for any advise or response if u would kindly. Keep up the good work!!! :DB)

aww man sorry your surgery was postponed! Mine was almost postponed as well if I didnt get my blood sugars down in time.. I worked my ass off getting that sucker down! lol anyways....... I never have been a fan of gatorade. I dont like how its so sweet or tart .. depending on the flavor. I have tried the calorie free ones.. but I get that fake sweet taste (like diet coke) and I hate that. However, if you have an electrolyte imbalance you may want to consider pedialyte (sp?) as well. Technically for babies but LOTS of adults use it when dehydrated and its great for what you need it for. Try it, wont hurt.

I have been feeling a lot better in the last 24 hrs. This morning I had cream of wheat for the first time and it was delicious. Its going to be my new morning meal :) I still get worried about making sure Im doing the right things, but I had my first post op appt with my dr yesterday and asked A LOT of questions. So far Im doing everything right and I just need to calm down he says lol. I tried to stock up on things beforehand.. like crystal light, no sugar added juices.. etc, bc i knew i needed to really be focused on getting my liquids. Unfortunately some of the crystal light is sickening to me now (the orange and grape) and the only juice i really like is apple and the white grape peach by Ocean Spray. I mix the juice with Water because its a little sweet..... but Water doesnt go down well for me at all so I cant really do it by itself. Its easier if i just dilude the juice with it. All in all what im trying to say is... dont stock up on anything at first. After your sleeve things will taste different and things will become so unappealing. Get a bunch of diff things first.. and see what works.. then stock up on it :)

Keep in touch! Im rooting for you... I hope your surgery date is set soon!!! Xox

  5. I know you all are probably sick of me posting so much.. but I am a new sleever .. gimme a break! lol :)

How easy is it to get blot clots after your sleeve? I was up walking around a lot at the hospital after surgery.. that they really only hooked me up to that machine on your legs at night. I am up walking at home too.. however the pain med makes me sleepy and I get paranoid that if i sleep for hrs at a time ... that i will be at risk for blood clots due to not moving. Am i being too paranoid? I cant sleep well, or for more than an hour or 2 at a time because I im thinking about this in the back of my mind Im sure... it sucks.

I am by no means laying up all day.. i get up very frequently .. but for how long do i need to be up and around.? sometimes im just tired and sore and i wanna sleep :(

    Any feedback?

  6. Considering how absolutely miserable you have been with fluids- give yourself time! Clearly your swelling is still happening- adding purees would bring you a world of hurt. I was on clears a week, and thin liquids two weeks after that- and I moved to purees because I was having NO issues getting ALL My Protein and all my liquids. Focus on that, and it never works to compare yourself. Your doctor's policy is their policy and you are best off following it. If you have a problem and have NOT followed it then you will have trouble identifying the issue. Not to mention having to tell your doctor you did not do what they said to do! I resented my weeks on thin liquids, but by following my doctors plan I have not had any problems with each new food stage and I know I am treating my sleeve right.

Don't forget you were stressing about how hard it was just yesterday. Don't push the river! Be patient. There is yogurt, there are all kinds of Soups, - and it is what it is! This is a short time in a long life and it will be worth it.

That said- do you see your doctor for a post -op? That would be the time to ask if perhaps you can move forward.Until then work on getting all your Fluid and all your protein- if you can do that it will show you are ready for purees.

I know I know... it just seems like way longer than i been hearing! I did get all my Protein in today :) I split up one serving between my yogurt, and the rest in my pudding.. the other 2 servings I did with Water and was able to have each in 30 min. so not bad I think.

I saw my dr today for my first post op.. and have lost 11lbs since I saw him 2 days before my surgery - so 7 days ago. I am pleased so far and he said i am doing great. The only issue with drinking im having now is the freakin water...... it just doesnt wanna go.... so he said mixing with juice or Crystal light is fine. So im sticking to that :) Thanks!!!!! :)

  7. I have been reading a lot of posts tonight and I am noticing that a lot of people are not that far out and are already on solids or mushy solids..... I was sleeved June 9th, and started my full liquids yesterday.. which I have to continue for 5 weeks. That seems WAY longer than I have been reading anywhere else :(

I am already running out of ideas of what to eat. Yogurt, pudding, Jello and boring creamed Soup I can only stand for so long.

    Any input??

  8. Hey Tamz,

I am on my 1st day of full liquids (8 days post op). My diet guide says thinned creamed Soups (tomato, mushroom, chicken etc). I was hoping to have some Cream of Potato strained the chunks out and thinned with extra milk. Not sure if that was OK either. I am assuming that thinned out cream soups means the light versions as they are usually thinner. But if you add more milk than called for, the Soup comes out thin anyway. I am going for my one week post op visit tomorrow and will ask for sure.

I haven't tried pudding or yogurt yet. I am a litte weary I guess. Cold stuff still bothers my tummy - except popsicles which go down ok.

How are you doing on your Water intake?

    Keep up the good work!

    :cheer2:

Water doesn't go down well.. However juice and crystal light do really well.. I had my first post op with dr today and he said its normal.. So he said just continue with crystal light.

I dont do well with the warm stuff lol... Which is probably why I didnt like those soups. I really suggest u try th Sf Ff vanilla pudding. It was the first thing I tried and went down so great. :)

  9. Ok im on my 2nd day of full liquids.. everything has been fine. Tried pudding, yogurt, and cream of chickn/cream of celery Soup..

I hate both Soups.. and i dont do cream of mushroom. Is Tomato Soup ok?? I didnt know if I had to have cream of Tomato or if regular campbells tomato was ok. I cant stand the cream of celery, cream of mushroom, or cream of chicken Soups :(

And im sick of pudding and sweet stuff already :(

    Any ideas?

  10. Ok .. so I have had time to relax and gather myself since my breakdown early this morning.. (see previous posts lol) .

I am on full liquids today and had my 2nd "meal" which was pudding again.. because im a little nervous about trying another new thing just yet.. maybe tomorrow lol. It went down SUPER easy and tasted delicious. I also heard that its ok to incorporate Protein with the 3 meals and not JUST between the meals. . So.. I added a scoop of Protein powder (Cookies n cream flavor) to my vanilla pudding and it was SO GOOD. is this ok to do?? I dont see how it wouldnt be.. but you never know I guess.

Still have some some soreness where the drain tube was but whatever.. the hole looks like its smaller than yesterday so I guess thats good.

I am learning to sip more.. sometimes i just forget.. still a learning process. I am getting less bubbles with the Water.. and no bubbles with juice/crystal light at all.

I just cant believe i have to eat like this for 5 wks! OMG how much pudding, yogurt, cream of wheat, applesauce and Soup can a person take LOL

Any tips on other things to eat that are ok at the full liquid stage??

I am going to try to mix in some Protein Powder with my Water and see how that goes now... that still counts as water intake right??

  11. So my sleeve was Thursday, yesterday (Sunday) was my first day home .. and I am feeling regretful about my decision to do this :( I hate that i feel that way but I do. This is hard :( I have cried several times since I have been home for not even 24 hrs yet. Its not even the fact that im hungry or want food.. because I really dont have the hunger for it at all. But i am sick of sipping, and not knowing if im sipping enough ... If I put my water/juice/crystal light in a big cup to keep it next to me while im resting.. then I cannot gage how much im drinking. Yet, if I pour it in the 2oz cups.. I have to get up every 1/2 hour and it hurts the wound from where my dr had the leaking tube in :( It is sore swollen and hurts and I cant tell if that means its leaking or something. He has already removed it so im assuming if it was leaking out i would see it on the bandage but dont know if it could be leaking inside.

I cant tell if im dehydrated.. a few times i have gotten really hot but its gone away... my hand/arm is still swollen where the IV was hooked up... and im paranoid about getting enough walking to make sure I dont get blood clots. I cant get comfortable enough to sleep in the recliner for more than an hour at a time.. and when I do sleep I wake up with a headache because its not comfortable on my neck. Even when I do sleep I am worried that I need to wake up frequently TO FREAKIN SIP. I am sick of bubbles, and pain that i dont even know is gas pain or not... but my stomach is hurting and i feel like i always need to be by a bathroom incase its not just "gas".

I am just hating this........ I am mad at myself that I could not have enough motivation to just work out and eat right and now I am in pain and miserable :( I know that today is only the 4th day after surgery but I am feeling like the wound should not be hurting this much.

I am so sorry for the venting.. really I am.. I am just having a hard time :(

  12. I am home from the hospital as of this afternoon.. thank god :) THank you all for the well wishes you are all wonderful. Can someone please answer these questions for me...

    1. is it normal for the area where dr put the tube for drainage to be sore.. he took it out before i came home this afternoon since there really wasnt much leakage. Told me to just shower with the bandage on it.. then dry off and replace the gauze and bandage. Its very tender and a little swollen around it.. is this normal??

    2. Does 1 sugar free popsicle count as my whole 2 oz of liquid for the hour im eating it? Im feeling thirsty and ok to drink .. but afraid :/

    3. Tomorrow i start my full liquids for 5 wks -- I am trying to figure out the best way to get down this Protein and all my other stuff. So - if i taken 3scoops of Protein powder that is my 60 grams right there for the day. If i mix it with 8 oz of Water and just keep it in the fridge and then pour 2 oz every other hour.. that works and satisfies my daily protein requirements right?? then of course in the hours in between ill be doing my jellow/yogurt/applesauce whatever .. and water since water is unlimited. Does this all make sense? I am so scared to mess it up or miss getting in my protein.. and I want to try to avoid calling the dr for EVERY single thing since I know everyone here has been thru this!!!

Please help me :) I would so appreciate some help on all 3 things. About how long did your area where your tube was removed hurt :( thats really the only pain im having so im hoping it goes soon :( :( I get so worried about infections or leakage!

    Thanksall

  13. Just got home today... The place where they had my tube in is very sore :( im worried about gettin in my Protein starting tomorrow.... And im enjoying a popsicle.. But is a popsicle over my 2oz per hr???

    Ugh so many questionsssss...

So if anyone can help me with this ......

If I mix my 60grms of Protein in 8oz of Water ... And just pour 2oz into a cup every other hour.. This will satisfy my protein requirements each day right??? Of course ill be getting my Water, yogurt, applesauce (2oz of all these I know).. So is this the correct approach??

  14. So surgery was thursday.. And im still feeling a lil nausea and bubbles/burping when I sip water/juice... Is this normal???? I'm going home tomorrow and I feel helpless :(

..Also.. The pain from where they put my tube on the left side of my tummy really hurts... Normal too?

Dr said everything is ok.. But I feel like my tummy is making funnny noises and burping :(

  15. I hope you're sleeved and doing well and having an easy recovery!! Please update us when you feel up to it, I'm happy for you!

    :)

Thank u for al ur well wishes!

  16. I am so nervous :( My surgery is tomorrow at 300pm and i have to be there at 130. I absolutely HATE how its in the middle of the day.. as if i need all morning and afternoon to think about it!

I really feel anxious and i dont like it...... I even considered cancelling last night.. ok i know, very stupid thought that soon went away but you get what im tryin to say. I hate hospitals, never been in one other than 3 times in my life and that was to see other ppl.

I am so sad that my family wont be here with me. blah..... Im tryin to get in the spirit, and I cant. :(

  17. WOW.. so Aetna decided to call me JUST NOW and tell me 400.00 is due tomorrow at the time i check in for surgery. WTF.. WHY less than 24 hrs i am notified of that. and then they said they will be billing me the rest later.. I have already paid 900 to my dr :( :(
