  1. Tamz, it DOES get better at 6 months out. Your capacity will increase and all the funny feelings should drop away. I too enjoyed food immensely and felt shorted when I could not partake, but I now enjoy the conversation and fellowship more than I ever did the food. I feel SO much better physically that it MORE than makes up for missing it. I also enjoy the small amount of food I eat just as much as I used to enjoy the masses. We went to Red Robin and we ordered garlic steak fries and I ate maybe two, I had a little less than half my bunless burger too and enjoyed it too.

    It WILL get better, especially when you pass the month mark.

    Thanks rootman :) yes im hearing after the month mark and more food selections.. It gets better. The mushies are just takin a toll on me now!


  2. I don't think attacking Tamz on MY thread - where I asked specifically about "buyer's remorse" is very fair. She's sharing her honest feelings. You wanna be positive about hair loss and saggy skin, that's great. She doesn't have to be.

    Thanks. Im still getting used to this, and its just up and down right now. Ive talked to a lot of ppl who were where im at.. And after a few mos and being on solid food they were good to go. So im tryin to get there.. Just hard. Thanks for ur understanding :)


  3. Tamz - You were over 300 pounds and really need a reality check. Everyone has bad days, but you seem to be extrememly negative about the sleeve and that is your right, but in all honesty - there isn't **** you can do about it now. So you have to embrace it and learn to love it. I fear your misery will be forever if you don't punch yourself in the face and start telling yourself that first you needed this because you couldn't do it on your own and second so what if you can't eat. FAT OR EAT? I guess you wanted to be FAT. BUT I know you didn't and you don't. SO PUT ON YOUR BIG GIRL PANTS and tell yourself you made the right choice...Because even if you didn't, again...There is no going back. I am not even 30 days out yet and my incision pain is still seriously bothering me. It feels like SCIATICA in my stomach, but OH WELL. I gotta go to work. I am dizzy everytime I get up, but I gotta push through it and drink more and figure out what I need to do. I was eating like I had lost my damn mind, but finally, no more bad fat girl thoughts...Eater's remorse. GONE. At 30 days. You have to really get it together. Because we are gonna lose our hair, our skin is going to be saggy and who knows what else is gonna happen...You have got to start getting to a positive place because the journey is long and FOREVER. Do you want to be all down forever. You post a lot of negative things on this site, and I think you need to take a break, get your nails and toes done, get a massage and LET THE **** GO. It is ok to have a bad day, but you don't seem to have any good days. Maybe you should also see someone. And I am really sorry to say this, but I have been lerking on this site for awhile and it just seems you are really bad off. Attitude really is everything.

    Thanks for the kind thoughts. Im not the only one in a crappy place. Im still adjusting. Not everyone can take it in stride. Your kind words will really help.


  4. Hi! I was just wondering if there were any sleevers that still ended up having a complication after they followed their surgeon's instructions and diets correctly. Im so worried about leaks, as im reading that some have had one even a month out of feeling great! I start soft foods tomorrow and Im sooooo ready for it. But im scared too. What are the chances of following the post op diets exactly, and still end up getting a leak? :(

    Congrats on almost hitting your 2 wks :) My dr says that the leaks are most likely to happen, if they happen at all, in the first 2 wks. Since you progressing to soft foods (I also did a few days ago) make sure you choose things they really ARE soft.. and chew chew chew chew to the consistency of applesauce. I started off with 1 bite... and waited 5 minutes. .when i felt ok i took another waited a minute or 2 and so on and so forth. You will know if its not going down right, or if your tummy doesnt agree with your choice lol. Some good things i had were ff refried Beans and ff sour cream (you can also add enchilada sauce to the Beans, its really tasty and helps loosen them up. I also did deviled eggs, soft scrambled eggs with egg beaters, and ive started doing turkey slices with ff cream cheese. So far, nothing I have tried has given me issues.. except i was so excited about turkey and cream cheese that i swallowed too soon and ... yeah I learned my lesson. lol otherwise, no issues. :) just chew chew and chew.


  5. When something goes well for us, we tend to become evangelists about it. I am going to a "seminar" about VSG tomorrow, though... and I want to know if anyone here wishes they hadn't had the surgery.

    Tomorrow is my 30 days post op... and yes, I regret doing it every day. I hate it. I hate saying that, but I do. I cant go out with friends for dinner and eat normal .. and i dont even mean eating a lot like i used to, I mean i cannot even order a regular meal like everyone else does. I cant have bread, sweets.. nothing. Not even a normal slice like a 130lb person would. I hate it. Im hoping it will get better.. but at this point I wish I didnt.

    Well I am 4 wks out tomorrow.. I never thought Id see the day when I could say Im 30 days out! I am facing a current problem though.. so i bought a scale for home and while i know that it could be off from the dr's scale.. im at least trying to monitor the change in numbers from the day i bought it a week ago till today. I keep going back and forth between the same numbers :( there really seems to have been no weight loss other than 1 lb off n on.. WHY!!?? :( Is this a stall or am i doing something wrong??

    I have progressed to some soft foods now with the approval of my dr, and also the 2oz 3 times a day guideline he gave me i can bump up a bit .. he said if im not feeling the full sensation i can take a few bites more......... so a typical day for me now is ..

    Breakfast - soft scrambled egg beaters - 1/4 cup with ff shredded cheese

    mid morning - Protein shake (20gr)

    lunch - 1/4 cup Tomato Soup, 2 crackers, half turkey slice with ff cream cheese

    mid afternoon - Protein shake (20gr)

    dinner - 1/4 some kinda Soup blended, half turkey slice with ff cream cheese

    i do 1 or 2 popsicles sometimes through out the day, and my Water i have been tryin hard to get 64oz but i cant seem to make it :(

    Am i doing something wrong, or is this typical for this point (1month out)


  7. I am 11 days post op and am wondering if we are supposed to be counting carbs during this period? Today I had 525 calories but 100 carbs (mostly due to popsicles as I can't stand no sugar Popsicles and am basically living on Edys fruit bars). Plus the cream Soups. So are we supposed to Be under 50 grams right now?? I just don't see how I can get calories in and be under 50 grams. I am getting 50-60 grams of Protein as well. Thanks!!

    im on the full liquid stage too and almost 1month out... my nutrionist says at this point we are eating too little to worry about carbs/sugar etc....... but 100g of carbs seem like a lot.. i cant even seem to hit 30 grams of carbs with what im eating. I would cut out the popsicles if i were you :)


  8. Im 5 days away from being 1 month post op.... and im hungry, all the time. I dont know what the hell is going on with me but I dont like it. Im supposed to be on 2oz of full liquids 3 times a day only .. and the dr said i could start incorporating softs since his diet technically goes from full liquids directly to solids at 5 wks. So i have done soft scrambled eggs, deviled eggs, and putting crackers in my soup...... i get full but then 2 hrs later im hungry. On top of that.. 2 oz is not really filling me up. I also think Ive hit a stall as far as weight loss.. so I am really not feelin this. I cant eat what I want, nor am i losing much right now. This is a nightmare....... and honestly i am still wishing that i didnt do this!!!!!!!!!! :(


  9. Scrambled, with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese. Yum. It took me about a half hour to finish it…something was telling me that eating faster would have made me uncomfortable.

    Afterward I felt full, at least what I think is my new full. It’s a very different feeling that the full I used to feel after eating 2 or 3 eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes, juice, etc. This is more of a gentle, satisfied feeling.

    Relieved that I still like eggs, after reading several posts over the months where people mentioned they don't like them after surgery.

    Interesting, learning to eat this way. Hardest part I find, is not drinking during a meal.

    I havent tried scrambled eggs yet.. I did however make deviled eggs and it was DELISH! I love using miracle whip instead of mayo mmm yum :)


  10. so Im waiting on my dr to call me back .. in the mean time.. does anyone know how long before I can get in the pool? My surgery was June 9 and my incisions are really scabbed over and almost falling off.. they just itch a lot now. I know i will need to cover them with surgical tape under my bathing suit but... I WANT TO GET IN THE WATER!!!! At least just get in and out quick when I get too hot from laying out in the sun tanning! :(


  11. ok so since my follow ups with my dr are now further apart and I wont be able to weigh myself as frequently.. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond tonight and bought The Biggest Loser scale to have at home. Got home, sat it on the kitchen floor.. set it to zero.. and here goes nothing......... It showed that I was only 2lbs lighter than a week ago! THEN.. i moved it to the bathroom got on it again and it showed that im 4 lbs heavier since last week! WTF!

    I am miserable right now..... and so discouraged. I should not be gaining or losing just 2lbs a week yet :( Could it be the scale? ? Has anyone had issues with home scales?

    Now this is going to be weighing on my mind.. ugh


  12. I had one of these today and from all places, my sister. Her comment was "oh great now you're going to get skinny, just another reason for me to hate you." and then "you're so pretty, when the hell are you going to get old and ugly?!" urgh. We're no longer speaking. Sometimes the toxicity comes from within your own family.

  13. Hello and thanks for the advice!! I'm working on less dairy and eating slower. But something else I've noticed - no queasiness when I eat carbs. But they are on my list of things not to eat. Has anyone experienced this?

    yes, i have noticed. I bought some of the Ramen Noodles type things .. for the broth because its so flavorful.. and I just put a few crackers in it rather then eat that Pasta.. it tastes wonderful especially the teryiaki beef flavor lol.

    Anyway.. milk is a no no for me.. even the soy milk, lactaid.. Silk.. all that stuff.. I think its the consistency/creaminess too I dont even know .. all i know is i stay away from it. I also didnt do well with creamed Soups. again, I think its a creaminess thing for me now.

    I am on full liquids, for 2.5 more weeks - but my dr said i can incorporate some softs since technically my diet goes from full liquids to solids -- yes i know, odd. Once I get to the solid stage he doesnt want me to puree ANYTHING.

    I think its just the kinds of foods we are limited too at this stage... they are mushy, blah, creamy, milky etc... not fun on the tummy.

    Refried Beans has been my fave so far.. they go down really well.. i put a lil enchilada sauce with them for taste and to loosen them up, and some shredded FF cheddar cheese, and a lil bit of light sour cream. Its really good!!


  14. One serving (3 scoops) is 60 grams of Protein. I need 40 to 60, I just do 2 scoops so I get the 40 grams. Remember u are also having Protein in ur foods too.. U dont need it all from shakes. Look up the nutritional value pls .....

    each serving (3 scoops) is 10 fat cal, 1 gram of fat, 7 carbs, and 2 grams of sugar.

    your Atkins shakes ...... Only 15 grams of protein with 160 calories and of that 90 is fat! 10 grms of fat, 6g carbs, and 1g sugar.... Remember ur only getting 15 grams of protein. My dr says absolutely no atkins shakes, as its not useful for protein... Bc u need to drink a few .. In turn look at all the fat.

    Hes the one who recommended GNC wheybolic, its the leanest GNC has. Every dr is different... But ive lost 35 lbs now since june 1.

    Anyways.. like i said every dr is different. my program seems to be working though! :)


  15. I guess I was confused, I have the GNC wheybolic extream 60 and my dr told me it had too many calories ?? I dont have it in front of me but I thought it had 260 per serving??

    I am happily moving right along ... my solid food start date is July 14 so I am counting down! The first thing I am going to eat is bbq shrimp and some green beans!! yummy lol anyways.. I wanted to hear if anyone has had the same problem I have had. . . I dont see a lot of posts about this, so I thought Id bring it up.

    I have a friend who I've known since i moved to Texas almost 3 years ago, and we have been super close.. always together. She is also overweight - not as much as me - but she is. Except .. she has this whole " i like my butt and my boyfriend doesnt want me to lose weight, and if i wanted to do it i could, i Just dont want to" kinda attitude. the last few mos we have not been talking much (for other reasons) and we have grown apart a bit. Anyways, when I told her about my surgery date on June 9th she was like ohh im so happy for you cant wait to see how you look etc etc so on and so forth and she wanted to come to the hospital with my for my surgery...... well .... long story short - we didnt talk at all the week before my surgery, and on the day of my surgery she deleted me from her Facebook, and I havent spoken to her since. She has her own issues in her life that made me turned off to the idea of being her friend.. but still .. we were so close, I didnt want to lose her as a friend completely.. I thought maybe we'd get over the rough patch. At this point, I just dont care. I see how hateful she is, jealous, and just cant be happy for anyone else. In fact.. I plan on taking her my old clothes in a few months and asking her if she wants them so I cant fit them! lol .. ok thats mean, but Ive considered it!

    Has anyone else lost any friends or anything like this? It makes me so angry... how can people be so hateful.

    Breakfast: 4-6 ounce Atkins shake

    Lunch: 1/2 cup turkey chili Beans

    snack: string cheese

    dinner: 3-4 oz baked fish 1/4 cup mixed veggies

    I have the atkins shakes .. they are not enough Protein for 1 day. At least not one. Also, they are higher in fat. Try a different type of Protein Drink. I use the GNC Wheybolic extreme 60 they are delish. Especially the chocolate. 3 scoops is 60grams of Protein and only 10 fat calories. It is extremely low on fat, sugar and carbs. I have lost 31 lbs since June 1 (pre op diet start date) and of that 31 - 25 has been since my surgery date of June 9th. You can do it!!!!!!!!!

    I LOVE deviled eggs, can you post your recipe.....Now I want one but that is not happening at work, lol. I am also on the pureed/mushy stage. I have found that it was much more flexible than I thought.

    I have made: turkey meatballs with crushed tomatos and ricotta (pureed of course)

    Ricotta bake (eggface)

    refried Beans with cheddar cheese

    SF choc pudding with non-fat lactaid and a scoop of GNC unflavored why Protein (21g)

    chicken salad

    tuna salad

    taco (of course no shell...) just made the turkey meat with the taco seasonings and put in the food processor with a little bit of plain non fat greek yogurt. Added shredded non-fat cheddar to the top.....DELISH!

    also LOVE the GNC Wheybolic Extreme Protein shakes (60g protein) I drink one a day (1/2 in am & the other 1/2 by 4pm)

    Girl I am a deviled egg freak i wish i could eat it 24/7 lol ...Heres how I like them:

    3 Brown eggs hard boiled

    Scoop out the insides and add 2 generous tablespoons of Light Miracle Whip, 1 teaspoon of FF mayo, and the yellow mustard.. I just start squirting.. but its about 1 table spoon. Mind you, I like mine TANGY. So hence.. the Miracle whip and generous mustard :)

    Heres a great way I do refried beans!! ---

    1 Can of FF Old El Paso Refried Beans (best Ive tried yet)

    1 small can (as some places sell the BIG can) of Old El Paso Mild Enchilada Sauce

    Light Sour Cream

    FF Kraft Shredded Cheddar cheese

    1 Pack Taco Seasoning

    Put the beans in a pot on the stove, when they start getting warm, put half the can of enchilada sauce in, and a half the pack of taco seasoning. stir it up and let it get HOT.

    Then scoop how ever much your eating into a bowl, mix in the cheddar cheese, and add a dollup of the sour cream

    ITS SOO FREAKIN GOOD. I will never miss a soft taco shell or burrito after this! :)

    I really want to try Turkey rollups with Cream Cheese.. but Im a little nervous lol


  19. i just wanted to share my love for the mushie stages!!!!!!!!

    I made deviled eggs and they were heavenly!! I use miracle whip (light) instead of may bc i like the tangy-ness.. then i added mustard of course.. but it was AMAZING. and i always over flow with the mix when i put it back in the egg.. SO YUMMY :)

    The strange thing is.. i thought my tummy would be kinda ehh my first time eating eggs and such.. and it wasnt.. I ate 1 and half another.. and was just fine. YUMMY.
