I fit my goal pants already...

Congratulations on your NSV!!!! You look amazing in those jeans! One question, how did you chose your goal size?
  2. Meggie, Thanks so much for sharing your journey! I hope that the liquids start to go down a little easier for you soon. My mantra is "this too shall pass" and I repeat it to myself constantly when I get tired of the stupid Protein drinks and want to eat something different. Erin
  3. Hi Renee! Figured I would say hello since we seem to be looking at and responding to all the same stuff. Hope you're having a good night.

    Not sure what to do...

    love it!
  6. What are you currently eating? Do you know how many calories you are consuming? 22 pounds is fantastic weight loss in a little over a month!!! You're doing amazing! I haven't had surgery yet, but I do know what it feels like to want everything to happen all at once, give yourself time and maybe beef up your calories just a tad so that you don't feel hungry all the time.

    Not sure what to do...

There are some seated exercise videos that you might be able to do. http://www.chairdancing.com/ I think they were made in the 80s or something, they are a little difficult to watch without laughing.

Finally found a shake recipe I LOVE!

The calorie count is around 295 for the whole thing if you use the powdered skim milk. 2T PB: 190 calories 1/2 Banana: 45 calories 1/4 c Milk Powder: approx. 60 calories

    Pre-op weight loss?

I think this is pretty common. Not only do they want you to prove that you can be compliant, losing weight prior to surgery helps to shrink the liver which makes surgery safer and easier.

    Pre-Op Diet

I was told that I have to do a 2 week pre-op diet by my surgeon's office. I decided to begin a week early and do 2 Protein shakes per day along with one healthy meal. Today I had to start the surgeon required portion of the diet and I was told that I could have 2 shakes per day, and could only eat Soup, SF Jello, and SF popsicles, though no specific calorie limit was set so now, I have absolutely no idea how many calories I should be eating. Last week I kept it at 1200 per day with a lot of success, I wasn't hungry and I lost 6.5 pounds. Today I've had only 535 calories and I'm not starving, but I am hungry and am not sure if it's ok for me to go up to 800 or if I should try to keep it around 500 - 600 per day. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome! Thanks Erin

    Pre-Op Diet

I don't know, I shouldn't have. It was mainly because I thought they wanted me to be very low and I was also nervous about needing to drop the 10 pounds, but since I felt like crap I bumped them back up and now I'm eating the correct amt. of calories and am back to feeling good. I also lost the 10 pounds I needed to lose!

    Pre-Op Diet

I'm doing well on the pre-op diet. I haven't been cheating, and have lost 9 out of the 10 pounds the doctor has requested. The first week I stayed a little above 1200 calories per day and lost about a pound a day doing that. Then the second week I was on all liquids, the first day I had about 500 calories and that gave me the worst headache and I was dizzy, so I bumped my calories up to between 800 and 1200 per day and that seems to be working very well, I stalled out for a couple of days, but am back to losing about a pound a day.

    Help with Pre-Op Diet

Have you tried different brands? I really like the vanilla EAS brand at the grocery store, but with all of the shakes I have to doctor them up. I typically add Peanut Butter and banana. I know PB has a lot of fat and calories, but I only put in a small dollop. That has been working well for me. I just count the calories. I've also added cocoa powder and a little bit of sweetener, that kind of makes it taste like hot cocoa mix.

    Need Help Expert

does it have to be Clear liquids? My surgeon's requirement after surgery are clear liquids in the hospital and then full liquids once I get home. Full liquids include: broth, strained/blended Soups (broth based and cream), Protein shakes, sf Jello, sf Popsicles, and clear beverages.
  22. You look awesome! Congrats!!

    Calling all May Sleevers!

Thanks Holly! Good luck with your liquid diet, don't forget to get in your fluids in addition to your "meals". That's been a struggle for me and I think I'm slightly dehydrated because I keep forgetting to drink.
