  1. LapDancer and Sunny Sea - Hi. Glad the traumas are working out. I am scheduled for a fill May 17th. Dr. K says there is little restriction because I can eat regular food one week out of surgery. I am working hard to keep to the plan, Protein shake, and lots of Water. I have resumed exercise, at least the aerobic type. I hope that helps. The weight loss has slowed big time. But then, I am eating more. You figure out when you'll be in town, then I will work around you since I am here. Smiles, Michelle ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ DynamoMini vbmenu_register("postmenu_454983", true); , I am so glad you posted that! I thought I was alone in being able to eat. I get full fast and have had a piece of chiciken get stuck but for the most part I can eat just about anything as well. I am also a little over a week out. My fill is on May 18th one day after you!

    Jumped the Gun..?

I agree with being cautious although I did the same thing and ate a piece of cheese pizza. Circumstances were I had no power in my house for two days due to a blizzard and didnt want cold soup so I opted for the cold pizza. Anyway, I had no problem as well. My Dr had told me that the post op instructions were a "guide" and to use common sense. When I feel ready move on... those were his exact words. Now I am not saying to move on or not... just what my Dr told me. I am not going forward with solids yet as I still feel I need to be on mushies and the pizza was a one time deal!

  5. I am glad to hear everyone is doing so well. We had that blizzard come through here as well. I live just outside of Colorado Springs in Falcon and we were hit hard. I had no power, no water since Tues at 1100. Finally last night about 9:30pm it came back on!! Thank God. I did break the band rules! I ate a piece of cheese pizza. Can you believe I can eat that already? Today I am back on my atkins shake but yesterday without any power I was looking for something I could eat besides cold soup and of course I went for the pizza. I felt so bad afterward... not pain wise just mentally. But on the good side I only at one small piece, so I guess you could say I am recovering fine! Top of my belly does get really swollen as well, and my back hurts between my shoulder blades... does anyone else have this pain? I notice the top of my stomache swelling usually after work or around 2:00 even though I have been trying to get up and walk often. About a summer get together, that sounds great. I am also going to try and come to the support group meeting in May!
  6. Sunnysea! OMG I feel so awful for you! That sounds so horrible! When I saw you-- I think after the fill you were looking so GREAT! I can not even imagine going through what you went through and trying to get home. I am glad you are feeling better now. Are you on the job hunt? Are you keeping more food down now? Let us know how you are! Angela

Kat! Thank you! Thank you for sharing your story with us. Thank you for keeping an eye on us and being a guide for us. I am so happy to hear that everything worked out with your DH. I laughed at your comment about riding horses. I have horses as well and the last time I rode was Thanksgiving because I saw a picture of myself getting on the poor thing! Maybe that will be my before and after... me getting on my horse! =) Your picture looks great I can not wait for you to post the new one!

Lunasa/LaruaJ, I was lucky I did have gas pains but they were not too bad. One day when they were hurting I took Gas X, it really worked for me. Have you tried it? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p> TracyinKS, We will definitely all say our prayers for you! You are almost there!! Good job on the walking that will help you feel better after surgery. At least that is what they told me and here I am 6 days post op back at work. Why I came back so soon I have no idea! <o:p> </o:p> Kity, <o:p></o:p> This was so encouraging to me, THANKS for sharing!! <o:p></o:p> “Yesterday I was wearing a pair of peg pants (capris) and a month ago, they were, um, very snug (who am I kidding, they were tight as hell). Well, I ran to the potty, and undid the belt (which, is on it's last whole!!!) and when I finished, I stood up and noticed that I had been able to pull off the pants, WITHOUT UNDOING THE BUTTON AND ZIPPER!!!! I just cant believe it. I've never lost weight before...just kept putting it on. This feels amazing. Today, the Parent/Teacher Group (PTG) put out a wonderful spread for the teachers. DynamoMini, I feel better on mushies as well. I am back to work today and feeling GREAT! :clap2: Last night I also had refried beans, and for lunch about 1/4 c. of a smoothie. I am just eating little bits of things.:hungry: Throughout the day yesterday I also had a few bites of yogurt and soup as well. Today I had a some coffee, not very much and now I am sipping on some crystal light. I brought soup and yogurt to work for lunch and snack, or when ever I feel hungry. How are you feeling? Are you up and about? When is your post-op? I am catching up on all the posts as I have not been logged on for a couple days. :girl_hug:

Hey guys I am four days post op and having mushies. My doc said that I could move forward when I felt ready and believe me today I was ready and it was ok. I had malt-o-meal for breakfast about 1/2 C and mashed potatoes for lunch - 1/2 C, has a few bites of the light and fluffy yougrt, and for dinner a little mac noodles with tuna where i chewed, chewed chewed! I hope I am not hurting anything by eating mushies? I haven't had anything stuck and i am going slowwwww. I also feel really good. I am having a little pain mostly the stiffening kind when i get up or sit for awhile but other then that.... feeling good!

Sara, What a GREAT photo! You are radiating :clap2: Tracy, You boys are also very cute! I bet they are a handful! They look close in age. I have three girls which I think are easier to handle when they are little, but when they hit that teen stage.. dear God! Girls are so emotional. :bandit

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Good morning everyone! I was typing away and lost my post. I must have hit the wrong button somewhere ~ anyway I am feeling pretty good today. I have had my meds, been sipping on a clear protein drink and had another popsicle. Let me tell you anyone who was just banded or getting ready to get banded get Dryers fruit popsicles. They are good, and when your throat is sore or itchy they work wonders. They are also sweet and sugar free. I have also been up walking around the house. I have not gotten the shoulder pain (lucky me!) so I am very grateful for that and hopefully I wont get it in the next few days. The staff at the surgical center was great to me and my DH. Doc said I was in surgery for an hour and fifteen. Not bad at all. Then I was in recovery for about an hour just sleeping, when I finally woke up I asked if my DH could come in then and if I could go to the restroom. They said I was doing so well I didn’t have to sit at the recliners. When DH came in he dressed me and we were off. My surgery was right after Taterbug’s and I even asked the doc how she did. I thought that was so cool – to see her recovering in the recliners. Small world! Well I will check back in later. Thanks for all the well wishes, I bet that is why I am feeling so good today! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p> Saramos, “Its mine n Daves 21st wedding anniversary today” Congratulations! <o:p> </o:p> TracyinKS, The week seems to drag on doesn’t? It did for me but before you know it you will be on the other side!
  13. I am still trying to find the lady I was speaking too in Dr k's office. Tues the 17th, she just had her first fill on Mon 16th, banded in Feb. Redhead from Wisconsin. If your out there let me know! Angie

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Hey all!! I am on the otherside! Yes, today I officially entered bandland! I am feeling pretty dang good. Will tell all about it tomorrow when I am not so groggy. I saw taterbug (Misty) while she was in recovery with her family and tried to wave but she did not see. She looked great which eased my nerves because I was being wheeled in when I saw her. Well just wanted to tell you all that I made it and will post again sometime tomorrow! Yippee!!
  16. Hi all! I am banded. I made it to the other-side. I actually met a lady yesterday from Milwaukee and did not get her name but I do think she posts on this page? Anyway if that is you (?) please let me know who you are. I also saw taterbug in recovery and was trying feverisly to wave at her as I was going in but she did not see me. She looked GREAT. Anyway, I am feeling good. Very little pain this far and just had a wonderful popsicle <--- however it is spelt. I will tell more tomorrow as I am really sleepy and not sure if this is making much sense!
  17. #609 Today, 09:53 AM Woofay vbmenu_register("postmenu_446132", true); Registered User Join Date: Mar 2007 Age: 38 Posts: 37 Hi Angie! Dr. K. doesn't do any tests at pre-op. His medical residents just go over that you can't eat or drink after midnight, how soon to be at the surgicenter, what to wear, he gives you perscriptions to get filled today so that you have them tomorrow when you are all done. That's about it. He asks you if you have any last questions and is again very reassuring. That's it. Oh, and they take your vitals and record them and make sure that you have been following a good pre-op diet and explain the need of the dulcolax suppository the night before.(not as bad as it may seem) They want you to buy hepicleans to wash your tummy with tonight and tomorrow morning before you go. Kinda dries your skin out, but I guess it kills all the micro organisms and stuff. And...when you get to the surgicenter tomorrow...don't pee before they take you back! They need a urine sample when they take you back and gown you...and I actually had just used the bathroom...so they upped the iv fluids until I could go...oops! But no one told me out front to not go...they even told me where it was up the hall. ha! Oh well. Don't feel guilty about the money anymore...let it go. My hubby and I took a second loan on the house (heloc) to pay for this. And I'm sure that if you keep going over and over it, there are other things that the money could be spent on...but is there anything more important than your health? If anyone even knew the half of my family medical history, there would be no question that this is the best way to spend 10K. I've done this for more than just me, I've done this for my husband and my two boys, (one is 7 the other is 4) who deserve a Mom/wife that's a little more active and not always depressed and ashamed of herself. I've not heard of the replacing one addiction with another though. I guess it's an interesting idea. That to me would be more like an OCD issue than addiction. Let's hope I replace mine with more meaningful things like scrap booking, playing with the kids and going to the park! You'll do great and good luck with everything. Funny how people on this thread can mean so much to you without ever meeting them face to face. Hopefully we can all meet face to face! __________________ Anita  www.lapbandrockies.com Dr. Kirshenbaum Banded: April 13, 2007

  19. Woofay (Anita), Thank you so much! I have had no idea what to expect, you are such an inspiration. You are right about the money. I guess sometimes we just need to hear it from someone else. About the additiction, I agree! On scrapbooking, I have been working on my wedding album for over a year now so maybe I will become more focused on that. I also have an 8 year old who would love nothing more then to run around in circles with me! How are you feeling after being banded? Are you checking the scale everyday? I hope I dont but probably will. I have stuck to the low carb without any cheats for the past 8 days so as far as the pre-op diet I did well. Paula will be proud. You are so right about everything you said!! Thank you! I really needed that.
  20. Anita, Thank you so much! I am on this website what seems like all day... especially when I am supposed to be working. :paranoid There is just so much to read. I jump back and forth from south beach banisters, to the journals, to head start on spring forum, you get the picture. I do need the encouragement/courage and was just getting ready to go take another look at the before and after photos. :clap2: Can you tell me what to expect today at pre-op? Do you think Dr. K will have the results back in enough time for my surgery tomorrow? I have so much going through my head. All the last minute doubts and guilt. I was just reading a new thread titled something like additive behavior and they were discussing the replacment of food addiction with other addictions. :omg: Then I started the self-doubt again. I just want to get this over so all my self doubt will be gone and I can just move forward on my journey!! :help:

Good info for mushie stage: WHAT ARE YOU EATING

Still looking for others at this stage...WHAT ARE YOU EATING? I'm definitely in a rut, but I just wanna get thru this next two weeks without breaking any bandster rules. I'm supposed to be eating mushie baby-food type things, with the exception of fish, eggs and well-cooked vegetables. I will just give you a list of things I've been eating: 1) Cottage cheese - every day - sometimes 2x a day. I puree 4 strawberries or canned pears, 1/2 c cot. cheese, 3 pkts of splenda...mix together. YUM 2) 1 c. Broccoli cheese soup from Quizno's or Jason's. I also enjoy the Campbell's "Select Gold" soups (or whatever they're called...come in a box container) but I make them a bit richer by adding some half & half and a bit of butter. 3) Vegetable tofu & egg drop soup mixed together from my fav. chinese restaurant. Generally I don't like tofu, but I don't mind it in soups and it adds protein. 4) Homemade smoothies - berries, 1/3 banana, yogurt, scoop of unflavored protein, raspberry ice Crystal Light for added flavor & ice. Whirred around in my magic bullet. 5) Baked tilapia, mashed potatoes and canned green beans (about once every 3 days) 6) 2 scrambled eggs made with half-n-half and butter fills me up like crazy. I love 'em for a quick dinner. 7) Today I brought a beautiful, ripe avocado to have as a snack. Just sprinkle w/ salt! Very good for you. 8) Cream of wheat (cooked, not instant) with butter, cinnamon and DaVinci SF praline syrup. Also add some unflavored protein to this. I track what I eat on on www.fitday.com and transfer the data to my journal here on LBT if you want to see what kind of calories I'm eating. Sounds to me like you aren't getting very many! I'm supposed to be shooting for 1000-1200 but I haven't made it yet. __________________

    Today is Pre-op

Today I am leaving work at 2:00 to go to my pre-op appointment at 4:00. I am excited and not real sure what to expect. I am not feeling very good today, :sick probably the change in weather, but I dont want to tell my doc for fear that he will want to reschedule. My surgery is tomorrow. I hope that gives the doc enough time to read all my tests before surgery? I had to reschedule my pre-op because we had a blizzard last Friday. So far on my low carb diet (it has been 8 days) I have not cheated once and have lost 4 pounds. I guess that is good for 8 days but I wanted to see an even bigger loss but oh well. My nutritionist said I just have to lose one pound before surgey and I have that covered. :clap2:
