  1. Hi gonnabeskinny!! I think I met you at Dr. Liu's office. Acutally, it had to be you because you told me that you just got it done and I thought you looked great and had it quite a while. (you have blonde hair and were wearing red that day...I think) LOL!! Anyways, you showed me your port site so I could see it because I was concerned about the surgery. That was so sweet of you to do that for me. And, isn't Hollywood ridiculous in some ways...because you were totally beautiful at the weight you were. But, living here myself, I totally get it! I'm a singer and all my friends are dancers, actors and singers. So, being the fat one in the bunch wasn't fun...but, they all accepted me anyways. Now, they are really proud and supportive of me. I've lost 30 so far. YEAH!! But, I got another fill on 6/12/07 and it's kicking my butt. I called Dr. Liu's office today to let them know that I'm pretty much throwing up everything. They reminded me to really slow down on eating and drinking and to act like my surgery was just performed. I have to admit that it has helped a little. But, a few bites and I'm done otherwise, I PB. I hate that and it hurts!! Anyways, best of luck to you and your career. Charlotte

    Bodybugg users report here!

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!! YEAH!!! The bodybugg really is money well spent. The two should just really go together...lapband and armband. LOL!! I 've lost another lb with it and I'm now down exactly 30lbs since surgery. I got another fill on June 12th and it's kicking my butt...having a hard time with liquids and forget about food. I'm going to wait a few days to see if I need to get an unfill but the soonest I could go in is the week after next because of my busy shchedule..but, if it gets unbearable...I WILL GO IN! Anyways, you'll love the lapband. I do! For me, I've been a slow loser, but I would not change anything and would do it all over again. Slow and Steady wins the race...right? Charlotte

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi, I'm slow too; however, I know it is working for me because I'm finally down lower than I have been in 6 years and it's been nearly impossible for me to get down to 242 in the past. As of today, I've now lost 29 lbs. I got my 4th fill Tuesday. I'm up to 3.1 cc's in a 4 cc band. I'm determined for this to work. I purchased a bodybugg last week and since I've been wearing that, I lost 7.2lbs. For me, it's about moving all day long....tapping my foot if I have to just burns more calories than sitting still. I swear, desk jobs suck for calorie burning. LOL!! Try not to compare your weight loss with others...that can be discouraging. Just remember that the 25lbs you have lost makes you feel so much better. Afterall, I imagine that you, like me, got the lapband because you have a hard time losing weight. Just keep moving. Good luck!

I can't wait until you get yours!! You are going to love it. It really does take the guess work out. This, along with my lapband, has really been my "Ah Ha" moment in my life. I'll look better and feel better in my late 30's than I did in my 20's. Technology is excellent! You'll love the stats!! "squeeling" with you!! LOL!!

I love hearing this!! YEAH!! I know, I'm going on my 4th month post-op and couldn't beleive that most of my weight loss was right after surgery. I definitely need the two things. It's funny...today, I got my hair done. Usually, while I'm under the hair dryer, my stylist will be working on somebody else. Today, I went out and walked around the outside to let my hair dry naturally. I walked for about 10-15 minutes and burned about 100 calories doing that..vs. sitting in the chair. She thought it was great!! LOL!! And, I got more movement in today and burned more. I love this bodybugg. I'm now down over 6 lbs this week alone and I really don't feel like I'm eating differently..I'm just moving differently now. It's nice to know that once I reach my defecit, I can choose to either eat and work out more or just stop right there. Yes, very eye opening. It is so much better that all the diet programs I have ever been on...this and being banded! Love it!

These are my stats so far today: 2271 Calories burned, 1302 calories consumed, 969 deficit. I want to stay around 1000 calorie deficit. As long as I keep a deficit, I will lose weight. So, I'm going to have dinner now and then go for a walk. As you can see, it won't take much to keep my deficit for the day and I've eaten many calories today. I love knowing. It's awesome.

Congrats on getting one!! If you know how many calories you are eating a day, you don't have to. However, you won't be able to see your deficit unless you log your calories. Oh, and they have many foods in there. It only take a minute to log your food. Really easy. I hated logging food until I got this. Now, it's motivational to see that if I eat 100 more calories that I will have to work out more or I can eat that extra 100 calories because I have banked more calories burned. It will give you the stats. But, I don't think it will be as accurate without logging your food.

    Bodybugg users report here!

I went back and forth on getting one for over a month because I really did not want to spend that much money on it. But, after not losing, I decided that I really needed to see what my body was doing since I thought I was doing everything right. I'm so glad I did. If only I purchased it sooner, I would be so many more lbs off the scale. Oh, well...it's moving now. You know, I walked 2 miles a day and went to the gym during that 6 weeks I wasn't losing. But, for my body, it still wasn't enough. Now, with the bodybugg stats, I'v learned that sitting at my desk only burns 1.3 calories but if I get up and pace during a telecon meeting, I burn over 8 calorie a minute. Last night when I downloaded my stats, it showed me that I had 700 more calories to burn to meet my goal. So, I went for a walk, did aerobics and finally met my 1000 calorie deficit! It's so amazing. This morning, I was down another 1lb. So, that brings me to a total of 4.2lbs lost for good this week. I have to say that the BB is worth the money. I think I'm going to start calling it BB KING!! LOL!! It rules! If you are going back and forth, just get it. You'll be glad..I was. Okay, I sound like a commercial. LOL! Charlotte

    February 2007 bandsters!

Only 5 weeks left!! Awesome!! 4th row is great!! I can't remember the set list; however, when Josh sings, "Not While I'm Around", Jerry lets, the first few rows come up to the stage to stand next to Josh. If you see Jerry (Josh's security), ask him if you can get a drumstick after his solo or if you can be one of the lucky girls to go up to the front. I got to do this in Vegas and it was awesome. Little did I know during the whole thing, I was on the big Screen with Josh singing. His Mother came up to me after the show and told me she thought it was adorable. Such a great moment. You are going to love the show. Josh does such an awesome show this time around. I wish I could be there to see your face. :faint: P.S. I think the reason why nobody says anything about what he sings is that we are all too Josh-brained to remember. LOL

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi!! You are looking great!! Congrats! :clap2: Just think when you go to the Josh Groban concert how much smaller you'll be. I felt so much better seeing his show in Vegas...especially since I was front row for 45 minutes of the show. I didn't quite feel as big and I certainly fit better in those chairs. Congrats on the wieght loss. I'm going very slowly. Getting my 3rd fill tomorrow. Can't wait. Hopefully, this will be the fill that starts my weight loss. Whoo Hoo!! Again, congrats!! Charlotte

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hey Y'all! Okay, I'm down 9!! (banded on Feb 13, 2007) Whooo hooo!! So, I called the clinic today to check in, and they asked me if I was working out yet. I told them that I had been walking but he wanted to know if I was using weights yet. I said, "No, because the nurse told me not to lift anything over 20 lbs for a couple of weeks after surgery. I stated that it's only been 1 1/2 weeks. He then asked who told me that. I said, "Well, I was told that while I was still a little out of it." He said that I should start really using weights now. Okay, I'm not ready. I feel like I could herniate my wounds if I did this too soon. Mercy!! I've read some journals where the patient was told not to work out until completely healed. What do y'all think. I think walking is enough right now and then, when I'm healed to add the rest. I mean, I don't feel any pain now..why complicate things. LOL!!

  16. Hi! I've been recently approved through Mail Handler's Insurance for the surgery. I was just wondering, since it's not mentioned in the brochure, if they pay for fills? Has anyone been approved under Mail Handlers? Thanks, Charlotte

    Introduction.......

HI Gigi! Looks like we can go through this together too. I'm scheduled on the 30th. I'm also nervous and excited! My best friend, who happens to be a size 4, is so supportive of me and is cheering me on. She stated that if I chicken out, she's going to drag me there herself. Now, that's LOVE!! LOL!!

    January Bandsters???

:cry Yeah, I did get sick. I was supposed to be having my surgery tomorrow; however, I ended up with bronchitis/asthma. I'm so bummed..but, glad I got it now instead of after the surgery. UGH! So, I'm rescheduled for next week. With my downtime of trying to get better, I've been bugging the nurses with tons of questions. They are probably thinking that I'm rethinking this but they have been so helpful. I can't wait until I get this next week. In the meantime, the steriods are making me gain weight. UGH!! Oh, well.....I'll get through it. Just hope I'm better next week. I'm glad I have this board..you guys are great teachers.

    Dr. Carson Liu

' Great information. Thank you! I feel the same way about this staff even though I haven't had my surgery yet. They have been very infomative and with me every step of the way during the last 3 months of getting approved for this. I'm so excited that I've been approved.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Hi Mine name is Charlotte. Wow, where do I start with this? Okay, I'm a big woman who can't stand to go out with men who love big women. Something about that creeps me out. Especially since I long to be thin. Also, I have friends who have tried to set me up with heavy men in the past. I'm not attracted to heavy men. Even though I am a big woman, I am very active. I bike ride, hike, walk along the beach, etc. I don't want a heavy man who will slow me down. But, then again, not attracted. (I know, double standard) Do I expect skinny men to be attracted to me...NO! However, if one is, I usually go out with them and have a great time. But, I usually don't date. Right now, I hate dating. I hope my outlook on dating changes once I finally lose this weight. I will be banded on January 30. So, I guess this is where I stand..I understand men not wanting to date heavy women because I only want to date active, thin men. I want someone who will challenge me and be active with me. My last relationship (last year) was with a lazy thin man. I gained weight with him around because all he wanted to do was eat and watch T.V.. UGH!! I stress ACTIVE. ;- I hope I'm not seen as petty..but, it's what I want.
  22. I would say Hi from Sunny Los Angeles...but, it's freaking cold and cloudy here. I will be banded on January 23....if I clear up my head cold. Gee, talk about timing. And then, it's up to the anethesiologist if he wants to do it because I've been on prednisone. Anyways, if I have to postpone a week I will. I'm so excited to be part of this community. I have looked at all the pictures and y'all are so beautiful!! I can't wait to join in the ranks. This is a new year and will be a new me!! Whaoohoooo!! Now, where's that protien drink I just sat down? I'm looking forward to meeting everybody. Charlotte

    Surgery and "AUNT FLO"

Funny, I've been thinking about this all day long. I have to first clear up my head cold before I can have my surgery on the 23rd, which is also the day I start my period. I've been so worried because I also get migraines with my period. I don't want anything messing this up. I just wish the messy things would go away right now. LOL!!
