  1. I'm done and home... omg! what an ordeal...
  2. it wasn't as bad as Thought it would be. having a urine cath made it easy, otoh- there are far worse things to worry about. just try drinking an ounce of Water...

  4. getting ready to head to south San Francisco... I'm checking in at 7 am. and will be rendered useless, by 8:30 am. monday morn!
  5. Neil, you're not that chef, are you? The speaker chef sat right in front of us last month, but he's already had his surgery. Nope- my wife reported it was a great meeting. He was awesome... oh yea- less than 24 hours to go... why is my stomach in knots?
  6. Hi- I feel your Pang! I was Mr. coffee... That was the first to go off THAT list, day one after orientation. I started out by mixing half decaf in my container of coffee- I know your thinking DECAF- YUK! yea mee too... 35 years...or more. when that got half way down(1 week) I mixed in another half decaf, and again, about 1 month and I was drinking decaf- the biggest hang-p I have is making sure when I order that I say DECAF. I loves me coffee- I don't need that buzz. on the bright side- My BP has never been lower... I am now a take it or leave it- I have maybe a cup every other day- although it is for the enjoyment not the need. And so i go to a sleep study class- half way through, 3 people take a break (including the RT, and get coffee- the small room was filled with wonderful smells- 1 gal even ate a burrito. I was really put off, a two hour class and these people couldn't wait? If you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep on getting what you've always got.
  7. The word is- there will be a chef there, guest speaker... and I have to work
  8. sounds like fun... I will be 3 weeks out of surgery- 30 pounds down from orientation- how many post-op ??? You guys can tell me more what to expect..
  9. I will miss it, last day of work before "The change" My wife, a RnY'r will be there. safe travels-
  10. I'll send good vibes up your way The more that are sent- the more get returned... I believe my follow up is the day you have surgery I can't wait- I do believe that will be mashed potato week... I will hand deliver my vibes.... let them loose on 3rd floor... they will find their way...
  11. come on folks help a guy out-
  12. what about before? I mean if we have to wait two weeks- then can someone e-mail my wife and let her know this week is very important... thanx-
  13. Thanks for your help- the thing I am having a hard time wrapping my head around is needing a good amount of food to be full. I'm talking less than a portion at a restaurant- but more than my "fixed" wife. My wife suggests to start cutting back this last week. I am not doing my last meals- I just want to eat, be full enough to carry on with work or play... My Breakfast and lunch are so on plan, but if I don;t have dinner by 4 pm, I am a raving hunger maniac. So I have a snack- on plan, but then I still need/want(?) a dinner- 4 oz. Protein, veggies and a little starch. (program) so advise me- I am not depressed- and have handled stress issues- My alcohol intake is also none-- now that Grad parties are over. just trying to figure this out.
  14. This statement or something like it,has been said by guest speakers in my 14 week class- and the facilitator has said it many times- (they did surgey on my gut not my head)??? have you heard this- LIVED this? can you explain it to me? I am not understanding it-yet.
  15. talk of beer here? shhh! I'm trying to be good. Robe? huh? haven't thought about that- was thinking of these light weight exercise pants I like- not really wanting to have all the eyes check out my tail end as I am cruising. (1 week left)
  16. I am signed up for my first event next Saturday! Tourdecure for diabetes! Nice- How many miles? that was my first ride- I did a 50 miler. TDC Napa. now have done it 3 times- 4 years ago- my wife and two kids- did 25 miler it was our anniversary- I wrapped her handle bars with red roses Let us know how you do. and post a link to your page- I will give you a donation!
  17. My class mate had hers done two weeks ago and got a bladder infection. Youch!
  18. I have 3 weeks slated out per Dr. Alami. I have a two week appointment with Dr. Li -lee(?) at that point they determine if you need more time or not. My wife was back at work at two weeks- however she only works p/t and at a desk. I walk aprox 6 miles aday and stand and lift almost all the time. I will if my body lets me, be in my cellar the third week working on my wines- that will simulate work and get me ready. (hehehe) a full week playing with wine- maybe I can try for a second week
  19. Dargar- 1 week apart- post as soon as you get out- or Pm me... I want to hear all about it...
  20. Ok- it's the count down to my pre-op... I do sleep apnia class on monday with surgeon appt. and pre-op class tuesday... then I work a 4 day week and it's here... excited yet scared? nervous... anxiety...
  21. Hi- awesome news- What kind of bike? Pics? I have 3 - I love cycling- I usually do between 10 an 25 miles- but have done many 50's and one century (100) I have a road bike- a single speed road bike and was given a rebulit fixed gear. My biggest hurdle is wondering how to nutrition my self for bike rides, and Water. we are not supposed to use straws or sip tops- on rides- those are how we drink. Camel backs and water bottles- it really isn't feasible to stop every 10 minutes to sip. I am hoping I am up to a 150 this fall- two days- from SF to wine country- I did it a few years ago- and would like to do it again-. also raises money for MS.
  22. Congrats! I Just walked a 5k with my wife - felt great! after my surgery, perhaps I could run it next year... right now I am concentrating on walking, everyday.
