I'm for it. Nothing irritates me more than people posting in the veteran's forum that shouldn't be there! Like, as you saw, they haven't even had surgery or haven't even been out a year.

Sorry for your struggle. food is an addition to me too and I don't know how to get over it either. I told my husband (a drinker) I was like the kind of alcoholic who drinks the vanilla and the medicine just for the alcohol. He thought if he had food that I didn't like, that I wouldn't eat it. But I can't help myself.

Im in a bi***y mood today so I totally take offense to use of words former fatties. Guess what im pre op and still currently fat. Thanks for making me a little grumpier today.
I also find it very offensive and it is always on the first page so I can't sign on without seeing it

carbs can be a diet KILLER, along with too much fruit; which has "hidden" carbs and sugars...we were told to keep fruit to a minimum and NO juice...always use whole fruit, much better for you and more satisfying.
To this day, I don't have "white" carbs...I will have a warm, fresh roll when we go out to dinner...if I feel so inclined...but that's the only time....
stay away from carbs and fruit as much as you can... I substitute spaghetti squash for spaghetti (need to get my Italian in) .. I don't use bread for sandwiches...no loss there... etc.. minor changes can be big on helping...
I'm really surprised that your Dr is allowing carbs and fruits already
What do you use for sandwiches?

I can understand where you are coming from. At 303 lbs, I just wanted to make sure everything was covered. Now, 40 lbs down, my clothes I currently have are either too big or too small. Its frustrating because you want to feel confident with your new weight loss, but its hard to when clothes dont fit like they should.
Keep up the good work!! You're doing AMAZING.
Yes, it is hard to find clothes when you are bigger and I was just glad to find ANYTHING that fit.

I think many overweight people, including myself in this, have body image issues. I didn't really want to see myself for what I looked like when I was 327 pounds........ I would look in the mirror only at my face to see how my hair and makeup looked. Now, when I look in the mirror, I am only looking at my body, and can't seem to wrap my brain around it. I swear that I look in the mirror the last thing I do before going to bed at night and the first thing I do when waking up in the morning..... not bc I'm getting vain, but bc it's like I''m scared that I might have somehow ballooned back up to my old self......... my brain still hasn't caught up with the weight loss.
Yes, I think that I must have only looked at my face too. hair - good; make-up good. I must look OK!

Thanks. That sure makes sense!

I feel so BIG. I look at my pants (18W) and think - can I really be that big? When I was 252 the size of my clothes didn't seem to bother me, but now I look at my clothes which I couldn't wear before and am apalled at the size I am wearing.
Does anyone else feel like this? My clothes even fit better before. It is like they were made for big women, now shirts are too big in the wrong places. Everything just fits odd.
Thanks,
Terry

Hi. I don't have a phone that uses aps, Just an hold computer. I ha e a serious emotional eating problem, is there a website?
-
@@Puppypaws57 - oh yeah. Isopure is a perfect "all day" drink. By "one shot" he means at one time, one sitting, one meal. They have those Protein shots they are 42g of Protein but you should definitely not have that all at once.
Thank you for explaining that!
-
You'll be fine at 20-25 in an hour. It will actually digest over several hours. Just don't go for any more at 1 shot.
What do you mean "at 1 shot"? I have a whey Protein Drink with 40 grams of protein (Isopure) but it takes me all day to drink it. Is my protein getting absorbed?

CowGirlJane...LOLRH
LOLRH? please explain. I'm not aware of these abbreviations.

I think you did the right thing. That fat girl is a person of the past. Why have new people in your life know you as a former fat person when you have worked so hard?
Sandy M - I think you did the right thing too.
-
You are right, we need to figure out why we emotionally eat to stop it. I can't figure it out. Every one of you is way ahead of me in figuring it out.
I looked for a psychologist in my area that specializes in this to help me figure this out but there aren't any.
Overeaters Anymous meets Sunday mornings and that is when I go to church.

When I log in, I click "New Content" and then directly into the "Lap Band" section....
And yet, it seems the majority of posters there are people other than those with the lap band surgery??
Even when the OP is is a Lap Bander, and asks a specific lap Band question or comment, the majority of responses are from those who have had other surgeries?
Is this giving the OP a realistic discussion????
I have had the lap band procedure....I cannot and will not post under a topic that was started and pertains to say, Sleeving, for instance. I have no experience in this area, so I cannot comment, and I seldom go to those forums....
I have no knowledge of other bariatric surgeries and the possible similarities, but I feel it can be confusing to hear other peoples advice and personal experiences when they have not had the same surgery as the OP.
Especially someone just starting out, and has a specific question pertaining to their surgery.....
I know you can enter a "General" wight loss discussions, and that there are forums specific to the different procedures, why are they all mixing in, and cannot participate strictly within the area of interest???
Yesterday there was a topic started by someone who had the Lap Band Surgery, and the question was very specific to life with the lap band.
This morning I go back to read through the many comments made since yesterday, and was surprised to see the over all majority of comments were from people with gastric Sleeve.....
In this particular topic, I do not think the experiences are the same, and the original topic got watered down in the process....Newly banded people reading that topic will get a very unrealistic view of what the experience is really like with the Band.
I SOOOO agree with you. Lap Banders have specific questions and need and I was wondering why others were on our boards. Hope they change it. Thanks for bringing this up!

I tried it. They sent info to my dr. and wrote back and said he denied it. I never talked to my dr. about it. I don't normally drink their shakes, but hey, if they were covered why not?
-
Like I said, my surgeon and his office do not think I will be denied. BUT, just in case, I am getting my appeal letter ready!
What are you being denied? I see you had been banded and lost a lot of weight.
-
Something similar happened to me. Dr. did a barium swallow and an endoscopy so all my Fluid was out, but I was still restricted.
-
I am having the same trouble. At first I had no trouble and didn't even know it was there. Now, I feel it all the time and have discomfort when I reach for something, but I can always feel it. I don't like it! :-)

I wanted to bike too, but never learned how and don't have any balance. I went to my local bike store and I bought a tryke. It looks just like a bike, but has three wheels. It was $500. It's adorable and it is so much fun, I don't feel like I am exercising at all. If I knew how I would send you a picture of it. It's pretty sea foam green. I live in an area that is just a little hilly. Hard going uphill, but coasting downhill is heaven.
Good luck in your purchase.

Are you thinking because you will have a long life that your band will need to be replaced 3 times?

My dr. was able to switch me to some meds in liquid form. I still take them 2 years later
