It took very little time to get approval too.

    Tricare Comorbidities...

OK. I had two surgeries. One didn't work out. The last one was Dec. 13, 2011. I started at 252 and was 201 today. Slow loss, but I'm older, don't always make the best choices (lots of emotional/hunger issues I haven't addressed) and have trouble exercising. So all in all I'm happy with my loss. Very happy with the band. If I did my part it would work like a charm!

    Tricare Comorbidities...

Yes, sleep apnea was a co morbidity for me, plus my size. 252 - 5'2". Tricare is usually very easy to get approval from. It was so easy that I had my surgery right away and didn't have to go through the classes, which in retrospect, was not the best thing for me.

    Tricare Comorbidities...

do you have sleep apnea? That did it for me.
  8. Yes. The Dr. works for YOU! You hired him to do your surgery, etc., etc. I KNOW how frustrating this is for you. If you aren't losing then you definetly need a fill. I wouild ask the surgeon to check everything out and also tell him how the NP is acting. There is a reason for all this and the Dr., his office and you should all be working together to find out what is wrong. Good luck and keep me posted. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

    The Psychology Of Size

Wow Lolita - that is my story. In fact it was kinda hard to read because it hit so close to home. Except, I was the ONLY fat one.

    Salt??

I notice salt in everything. Wayyyy to salty. I bought a 4 pack of individual Knudsen cottage cheese and could barely eat it because I found it so salty. 410 mgs for 4 oz! Maybe I'm just sensitive to it.

    So Excited!!

October will be here before you know it.
  12. I'm not sure I understand. Did you get the band? If you were at goal pre-op, why would you need the band?
  13. No, He decided after the surgery because I had so much scar tissue. Ask away - I'm happy to help. E-mail me if ya want at: Puppypaws1957@aol.com I don't understand the private messages on this forum too well. Terry
  14. Yes, just one night. And I think it was because the Dr. was being super careful.

    Esophagitis?

What is it? I have a mass on my esphagus that will be checked out. Is that what you are talking about?
  16. My second band is working beautifully! I'm glad I had the surgery again.

Do Post Banders Handle Heat Better?

I was always hot in the winter too. All that heating - whew!

Do Post Banders Handle Heat Better?

Katie - it happened to me. Used to always be hot! Drove my husband nuts. Now, I feel comfortable most of time - even in Summer. And I haven't even lost that much weight. 50 lbs more or less. It was one of the NSV that I hadn't even thought of. I'm sure you will be one of the lucky ones. :-)
  19. My second time was much worse, but there were reasons for that. He had to scrape away a lot of scar tissue 2nd time around and he also removed a hernia. My 1/2 hour surgery ended up being 4 hours. I think this is the exception though and suspect you wil be just fine.
  20. I've used mine twice. First time was at IHOP. I ordered off the chilcrens menu - 1 egg, 1 slice of bacon and a pancake. I ate the egg and the bacon. Server wasn't going to take it, but hubby intervened. Second time was at Marie Calendar. I had a 1/2 sand and bowl of Soup. Ate the soup and the tuna from the sandwich. They were very gracious and accepted the card no problem.

How Are You All Doing Now?? Updates?

I was banded 12/13 and have lost 51 lbs. Dr. put saline in my band during surgery. Had one fill, but had to have it all removed while still at Dr's office because I couldn't even keep down Water.
  22. Also, check out the board "Lap Band Complications". I bet they have good insights that may help you!
  23. Hi - I think it is the same thing. But you still may have something wrong with your band. Don't give up! It took me almost a year. My Dr. said "There is nothing more that I can do for you. You need to see a psychatrist". Actually, I would like to have counseling for my eating disorder. But you also see - there was something wrong with the surgery that was done. Don't give up!!!!
  24. Please get a upper GI from your Dr. I am now on my second band. I did everything right the first time around and also lost very little weight. It took an upper GI to show that my buckle wasn't connected. That is when I had my second surgery. Now I am losing weight. Slowly, but surely, the weight IS coming off. There are problems with the band that are mechanical. Please have your Dr. check it out. My self-esteem took a real blow during all of this. I had told everyone I was having surgery and then didn't lose weight. If it is mechanical, you need to get it fixed NOW. If it isn't a mechanical problem, the Dr. can help there too. Bands can fail thru not fault on our own. Let me know how you are doing. ((((HUGS)))) Terry
