  1. my psych eval was quick and simple they basically want to know that you understand the surgery process and that you have support for the mental journey at home mine lasted not even 30 min
  2. I am July 6th, too! wahoo!!!:001_rolleyes: what time is your surgery?
  3. i have aetna and they approved me the first time around but i had given my psych eval to my surgeon and they faxed it into aetna, i would call and refax your psych eval approval and then they should have no reason to deny u. but aetna will deny u if ur bmi is 35-45 if u dont have a co-morbidity also such as diabetes sleep apnea etc, so i would mmake sure you have that info ready as well.
  4. sounds like jealousy that you are going to be getting a definate way to solve your weight issue while she still struggles. dont let anyone make you feel bad about bettering youself and your health!!!
  5. :bounce: how fun! i am 24 and i am waiting anxiously for my surgery on 7/6/11, my 25th birthday is at the end of july so i am considering it my birthday gift to myself! keep us updated and congrats on your progress so far!!!
  6. Jasleeve, I also had to do a 6 month supervised diet with a nutritionist and I have PCOS and insulin resistance and it makes it easy to gain and almost impossible to lose. Over the 6 months I had to lose 5% of my body weight, and I was shocked that I was able to lose it, plus about 15 pounds more, and maintain it. I have struggled for years to lose 10 pounds, but I ended up losing over 30 pounds by sticking to the South Beach Phase 1 Diet. It is restricted carbs and it was hard and I had to do food journals for 6 months which were a pain, but it was totally worth it! I did 45 min of cardio, 4 times a week and that helped a lot too. I know it seems ridiculous to have to lose weight in order to get a surgery to do the same thing, but you CAN do it! Taking Benefiber really helped regulate me as well and even though I hated my food journals, they really keep you accountable. I know my doctor told me as long as I lost close to the 5% he could put me through as compliant but I exceeded it and was completely shocked at that. Just really regulate yourself and be honest about your eating and exercising and you WILL be successful! :cheer2:
  7. pre op for me is just phase 1 of south beach diet, so basically no carbs. i think based on that u should be fine with a similar meal
  8. a friend works at the melting pot close to where i live and she has had people come in with a dr note and they will gladly prepare a smaller sized portion but she says most waiters dont need a dr note just to say "i have a medical condition i can only eat X pieces tonight, can you make me a smaller portion of the _____ ?"
