Hi Nurse Barbie, Sorry your feelings are hurt. One thing I have found is that whoever you don't like will probably be gone in a few months. Every online forum I've ever participated in has had quite a few dust-ups as time goes by. I just stay out of them whenever possible. And hormones here don't help: I was so emotional the first few months post-op. It was way easier to hurt my feelings then than it is now. I do agree with another poster that F2F support groups have a lot to offer. Lynda

Wow! You've been missing out. Laura-Ven and I live in the stone fruit capital of the world (OK, now it's moved a bit, but it was the stone fruit capital before high tech took over!). A pluot is a hybrid of a plum and an apricot. Lynda

Walk. It helps. And then stand up till you feel better. It gives your tummy more room. Don't ask how I know. We all know why I know what works after eating too much. l

I am soooo stinking NERVOUS!
lsereno replied to cindymaried's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was scared too. Esp. scared I wouldn't wake up. I cleaned house like a mad woman and did lots of other stuff to get ready for surgery. I will be thinking of you. Lynda -
I had salt cravings and sugar cravings. I used my Protein drinks to satisfy both. Salt craving? unjury chicken protein. It has a lot os salt or at least it tastes like it does? Sweet craving? French vanilla Gold standard whey protein. Lynda

I was pooped for about four months. Hubby should pick up some of the stuff you normally do so you are less tired when its time to have fun.. My opinion: nothing looks sexier than a guy doing housework, shopping, and riding herd on the kiddos. Even if he doesn't help, you should feel better soon. Lynda

For Vets or 6 months post op!
lsereno replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I love going out. I'm a little over two years out. At first, I ordered off the appetizer menu, and sometimes I still do. Or I just order a meal and eat what I want. For example, last night we went to PF Changs. I ordered the summer special: swordfish. I ate some of the veggies and about 3 oz. of the fish. It was on white rice, which I don't eat much so I just left that. Hubby ate the rest of the fish, and I just left the remaining veggies and rice on the plate. It was no competition for my fav fish there, the Oolong Tea Marinated Sea Bass served over spinach, but I felt like trying something new. Lynda -
I like chocolate. I get my chocolate fix from sugar free hot cocoa ( not too often or the lactose gets me)', sugar free torani syrup in coffee, and the occasional piece of chocolate candy. I liked the chocolate Protein powders per-op, but not post-op. Lynda

It may not be your fav post op. some foods that I liked per-op, particularly greasy foods or lactose-heavy foods, do not appeal to me any more because I often don't feel well after I eat them. But everyone is different and you may not have the issue with these foods. Not that I never eat them, but they certainly don't call my name like they used to. Lynda

Thanks Jane! Glad you got a good report. I'm still searching what causes many to gain after year 3. Maybe stretching contributes to that. Lynda

Unjury Chicken soup...... HELP
lsereno replied to AmyInOrlando's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, the blender ball or pour just a little Water in and then use the whisk. After you get all the lumps dissolved, add the rest of the water. Lynda -
Lots of people like Isopure, but I didn't. My fav Protein drinks were GNC Gold Standard whey in vanilla, which I drank plain or mixed with Starbucks Via Decaf Italian Roast, or unjury chicken. Not nuts about the chicken, but it sat well and was a nice break from sweet drinks. I didn't like the Unjury Plain. I could taste it in everything I tried it with. Lynda

I didn't choose the band for myself, but not everyone has problems. One of my neighbors has it and she's done great and is happy with it. And isn't that what Sharon Osborne had? But to say it's safer is ridiculous. I agree that they use less than one year statistics to avoid issues. Just like a lot of these WLS ads tout excess weight loss, but they don't say many regain between years 3 and 6. Sheesh. lynda

Yes, I've heard a lot of hurtful things. But I just keep doing what I think is best for me. I don't like arguing so I don't do anything to prolong a conversation I'm not enjoying, including sniping back. That person is stuck with themselves all the time. The best thing I can do for myself is minimize my exposure. Lynda

Is no drinking before and after eating a forever thing?
lsereno replied to CatherineJo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like Cheri, I'm usually too full after eating to even think about a drink. I do tend to drink right up to the time I eat now that I'm further out. Lynda -
Hi, I'm a little late to the party, but I think it's a good idea to not be sleeved at the same time. Don't say no to daughter, just not now. If you get yours this year and plan hers for beginning of summer next year it gives time to: Allow you to heal, get to goal weight or close and time for your sleeve to mature so you have a better idea of long term issues - First hand. Allow her to prep for surgery by getting medical tests done, monitoring these forums, trying Protein drinks, taking Vitamins, meeting with a counselor who specializes in disordered eating, and seeking out other teens who have had the surgery. Gives her a full summer to heal before starting school in the fall. Lynda

Heh. 135.9 today, but I'm beating my way back to 135 before I add back Snacks unless we go out to dinner tonight, in which case I will have a low calorie meal and two cocktails. Yesterday, I had an extra evening snack of 1 oz. pretzels and I only got in 7 cups of Water instead of 8. Today, I'm planning around 1,000 calories for food, 74 grams of Protein and possibly 250 calories in drinks if we go out. I walked for an hour this morning and worked hard in the yard for an hour. I'm pooped, but the yard looks good. Shooting for 8 cups of Fluid again today. B: Soy Latte, then an hour later a slice WW bread, 2 oz. 98% fat free ham, and 1/2 banana (250 calories, 22 g. protein) L: Open faced sandwich of 1/2 large sliced tomato, 1/4 cup grilled summer squash with 1 tsp olive oil, 1 oz. goat cheese, 1 oz. 98% fat free ham, 1 slice WW bread (250 calories, 14 grams protein) S: 1 cup watermelon cubes (80 calories, 0 grams protein D: ? Not sure but will include 3 oz. of protein and some veggies and a starch and come in around 250 calories S: 1 cup Fage 0 yogurt, 1/2 c. blueberries, splenda (170 calories, 23 grams of protein)

lsereno replied to SexyMama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every program is different. I could all of these except beef and jerky after my two week post-op appt. Was cleared for beef and jerky at 6 weeks. But I didn't eat jerky till I was further out. Lynda
