  1. Happy 42nd Birthday pmpanther!

  2. My Dr told me no driving for 2 weeks, I think he is crazy, but ultimately the concern is making sure everything settles inside properly and that if you in an accident after surgery there are concerns that you had an internal operation, the inflation from the gas, etc... something else about the airbags too and thats why being a passanger isnt and issue... Me i drove to the drop some stuff off the other day probably 10 miles and was really uncomfortable doing it...

    I gained 9 pounds!

I would bet everything on the fact that the weight you gained was from the IV's and totally just fluid... really what else could it be... definately not hospital food...
  4. I am seeing the same thing, I am 5 days now and starting to get ALL the sensation back inside... wow do we make some serious noises internally... anyways that burp and the hickup is the pouch emptying from what i can ascertain... when you drink or eat it is still settling in the pouch and draining into the stomach, when that happens you have the release of air causing the burp, gurgle or hickup... at first i really thought i could actually feel the swirling effect inside me... had the mental picture of the toilet bowl swirl as my pouch emptied into my stomach... a bit dramatic but its amazing what your mind puts together when you really dont know whats happening...
  5. what the other poster is saying really sounds about right... from other articles on the internet about laproscopic surgery... the gas that they inflate you with typically settles somewhere in your body, most commonly in your sholders... in my case on day three it all settled in my neck and not in the muscles but in the bones almost... I truly couldnt even hold my head up the pain was that bad... I used a heating pad and was able to get the preasure to disapate... try warm liquids, tea, hot broth, etc that should help, remember this is a different kind of gas, you cant burp or f___ this out... i wonder if a warm bath or walk around the block would help... its all about moving right now...
  6. I was banded on Monday 5-9-11 and told that I need to stay on a liquid diest until I meet with the Dr on the 20th... Its impossible, not only can I not get enough liquids in me from the swelling but I am truly starving... I am probably getting around 400-600 calories in a day right now and I find the cravings are worse then the two week diet before the surgery... I have been cheating and trying the greek (thick) yogurts, icecream, and others items like this to help me out, but i am really not sure if this is hurting me or not, things seem to go down smoothly, but am i creating problems with the size of my pouch, the stiches holding the band in place, and whatever other crazy idea my mind can dream up... Today i blew off my kids game because i am depressed on just not sure what is going on with me inside... I am not sure if i am right but i think i can appreciate were you coming from and only say its going to take stamina right now to get through this... as much as the shakes arent that great as long as i have some in me i dont have any cravings, but as soon as they burn off there better be a lock on the fridge...
  7. You cant just NOT eat... you need to atleast break your shakes down throughout the day... you need the nutrients in your body, you need to make your digestive system and metabolism work... my biggest problem as a chef is exactly what your talking about... when I am busy i always forget to eat and that means i might go throught a day and not actually put any food or drink in my body until 3,4 maybe even 6pm at night and now my body doesnt know what to do with the food... the nutritionist i spoke with told me that your body will educate itself and with bad habits like that store the food as fat in your system because it doesnt know when it is going to get more... try to eat more throughout the day, atleast drink the shakes, my goal is to do 3-4 shakes a day and a sensible meal at night with the family... Good Luck, we all know its tough...
  8. Had my surgery on Monday 5-9-11 and finding myself confused on what I am actually feeling...

    Two Days post op

OK, So I too had my surgery on Monday and am extremely suprised that I really have no pains from the surgery... However I am extremely bloated (just found out that is from the gas they put in our body) and swolen around my mid section, swolen to the point of being firm... My biggest problem is that I really dont understand what i am feeling... the first couple of days I was hard pressed to get anything down, I was full with 2 oz of Jello and couldnt drink a 1 shake in a day... Now, Thursday and I find that I cant drink more than two shakes still but I am hungry and craving food... I have tried Ice Cream, Greek Yogurt and Apple Sauce (not sure that I was supposed to do that but I needed to get something in me outside of water) I would love to have someone to talk with that is at the same stage as me and can help me talk through the wierd feelings I have in my body... I think the worst thing about this procedure is that I truly dont understand whats going on and what I am felling...
