  1. I am very fortunate when it comes to most of the important people in my life. My husband is very supportive, we have been together for 12 years and he is my biggest fan and best friend. My parents, sister and a couple close friends have been extremely supportive. I was just stuck on stupid when my oldest friend, whom is heavy herself, was not as supportive as I thought she would be. Besides reciting all the risk of surgery and the risks that can happen after surgery, She actually asked why I wasn't worried that it was going to screw up my marriage. My marriage isn't perfect but its a very strong marriage and certainly not strong because I am fat! LOL. She said she worked with a woman, whom after she lost over 100lbs after WLS her husband left her because he wasn't "needed" after 30 years of marriage. I don't know what kind of marriage they had but I am a military wife, which means majority of the time I do everything....right down to changing oil on the cars when husband is gone. I think I am hurt by this and now feel I can't share my experience with her.

    Wanting Lap Band Surgery..help!

I don't know what you can do if you don't have a co-morbidity. I have hypertension and still had to have a letter from my PCM stating that I had hypertension, even though I am on 2 different medications, in order to be approved through tricare. I hope your PCM will be able to help you, if he doesn't look into getting a different PCM. It's an easy process through tricare you if meet the standards, the longest part is waiting for the appointments of the psych eval and nutritionist. Good Luck.

    TRICARE PRIME PATIENTS

Thanks Ladies....I go to my PCM tomorrow for the psych referral and have to get a documentation from her stating I have HBP even though I have been diagnosed and am on medication for it. LOL. The surgery center says as soon as I fax in those 2 things that it should take 24-48 hours for the approval from Tricare then I can schedule for 2 weeks later. So let's hope this moves along very smoothly and quickly.

    Tricare Prime....Triwest issues

Yes...That is where I am going. I am seeing Dr. Malley though. I had just had my consult and was curious as to the steps that I would need to take because I was impatiently waiting on hearing from Malley Surgical center what I still needed to do....it had only been a few hours...LOL. I had found out that I have to get a psych eval and a document from my Dr. stating I have HBP. I have it, on medicine for it but they still want me to have the document. Going to my PCM tomorrow in hopes to get a referral for the psych eval. As soon as I am done with that I should get approved and have it done.

    TRICARE PRIME PATIENTS

Hi Everyone, I have Tricare prime and just curious about how long of a battle I have here with TriCare if anyone can give me a rough estimate. I am so anxious and impatient and want some kind of guess or comparison how long the process takes. My PCM sent in my referral on May 9th and I received the approval from Tricare on the 16th in the mail, they picked my surgeon so I called and attended the Seminar on June 9th and attended my consultation yesterday(June 29th). I have a 47 BMI and high blood pressure. Just curious what kind of hoops they make you jump through and about how long it takes if anyone can give me their own similar process. Thanks!
