  2. I was banded on the 23rd as well. I haven't felt hungry yet either. Pain is very minimal and all is well. Congrats!
  3. Hello fellow August banders! My name is Rachel. I am 32 years old. My highest weight was 282lbs and I wore a size 24. I am happily married to my best friend for 12 years now. He is a Staff Sergeant in United States Army and that makes me an even prouder American. We have 4 beautiful babies, Jordan(girl, 10), Gabriel(boy, 5) Cadence(girl, 4) and Matthew(boy 2). These kids and my husband are my world!! I am originally from Ohio and I miss but we are stationed here and Kansas and the home is where the army sends you. I am 6 days post op(banded on the 23rd) I am feeling WONDERFUL. I have a slight pains here and there but doing well and haven't touched the pain meds. I found I lost 25lbs during the 2 week pre-op diet so needless to say I was stoked and even more motivated. Hope everyone is doing well and healing up well.
  4. Good luck and let us know when you are out safely. Yay you!!
  5. Mine was pretty easy as well....the biggest hold up was getting the psych eval and nutritionist appointments scheduled. Good luck!
  6. I was nervous as well...I started mine yesterday and actually wasn't that bad. Even though I made my family my favorite dinner of meatloaf I was okay...smelled good but I managed. You will be okay. Good luck.
  7. Good luck and congratulations. I hope you have a safe surgery and a speedy recovery!
  8. I am starting to get really nervous as well. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. My date is on the 23rd. Congrats to you and good luck.
  9. I am hearing a ton of wonderful things about New Hope...I am just so ready to get this done and over with and start this journey. I know it's going to be hard work but I am looking forward to it. Yes, I was very fortunate to have insurance pay for it. They didn't expect you to jump through tons of hoops either which is strange for anything to do with the military. LOL. The best thing about the military is the full coverage of health care. How are you feeling? I am hoping since I was a champ all 4 c-sections, back doing laundry and caring for kids after 2 days, that this recovery will be cake. Hoping, I am a little older now. LOL. Is there alot of discomfort or gas? The hubby only has 4 days off work then its back to him being gone for 12 hours so I am hoping I will be okay and back on my feet to keep up with the little ones who are not in school yet.
  10. Thanks, I am getting the Lapband done on August 23rd. It was such an easy process once the couple pre-requisites were done. I am ready and excited to be on that journey. Congrats on you triumph and Good luck to you!
  11. I have decided to just keep it to a few people because I have had a few bad experiences with a few close dear friends who I thought would be 100% supportive, when I was researching the procedure. Now it's just my parents, sister, my wonderful husband and a really good friend since we live so far from our families. We are going to need her help with the kiddos.
  12. I am very fortunate when it comes to most of the important people in my life. My husband is very supportive, we have been together for 12 years and he is my biggest fan and best friend. My parents, sister and a couple close friends have been extremely supportive. I was just stuck on stupid when my oldest friend, whom is heavy herself, was not as supportive as I thought she would be. Besides reciting all the risk of surgery and the risks that can happen after surgery, She actually asked why I wasn't worried that it was going to screw up my marriage. My marriage isn't perfect but its a very strong marriage and certainly not strong because I am fat! LOL. She said she worked with a woman, whom after she lost over 100lbs after WLS her husband left her because he wasn't "needed" after 30 years of marriage. I don't know what kind of marriage they had but I am a military wife, which means majority of the time I do everything....right down to changing oil on the cars when husband is gone. I think I am hurt by this and now feel I can't share my experience with her.
  13. I don't know what you can do if you don't have a co-morbidity. I have hypertension and still had to have a letter from my PCM stating that I had hypertension, even though I am on 2 different medications, in order to be approved through tricare. I hope your PCM will be able to help you, if he doesn't look into getting a different PCM. It's an easy process through tricare you if meet the standards, the longest part is waiting for the appointments of the psych eval and nutritionist. Good Luck.
  14. I go into the New Hope Bariatrics center in 3 weeks but my surgeon is Dr. Malley. I am glad they treated you well. Gives me hope. I have had 4 c-sections so I am hoping that experience with make this experience cake! LOL Hope you feel better soon and congratulations.
  15. Congrats and I hope you feel better soon! Almost can't wait for the soreness, ready to go in less then 3 weeks.
  16. Lauretta, I received my date! August 23 rd so now I am right with you on the scared part!! LOL. Good luck and God bless to you as well.
  17. I hope you can soon too! It was such a weight lifted off my shoulders to get the approval. I have my date for August 23rd and now i am nervous. LOL. And excited too.
  18. Thanks guys for the encouragement and I am having my procedure done whether certain people agree with it or not. My husband and the rest of my family are very supportive and I am very thankful for that.
  19. I will be joining August banders on the 23rd. I just got my date today and couldn't be happier!! Anyone else on this day?
  20. Yay us! is Right!! Congrats to you guys too!!
  21. I got my approval today from my insurance!! Yay! Now just waiting to hear from my surgeon's office in order to schedule the date.
  22. Has anyone experienced people they loved or cared about trying to talk them out of getting the surgery? For the most part I have had my family be completely supportive, especially my husband. I have however had a couple friends, 1 heavy like me and 1 skinny twig, try and talk me out of having this surgery. I didn't just decide this on a whim and have battled obesity my whole life and researched this procedure for a year. I am now in my early thirties and have 4 kids that I want to be healthy for and be active enough to keep up with. If someone has had this issue how did you deal with it?
  23. Hi guys! My name is Rachel. I am a happily married mother of 4 and impatiently waiting to have my surgery. I had my psych eval last week and go in on Thursday for the report, this psychiatrist likes to give the patient the report first before faxing it to the doctor. After this is turned in to the surgeon it should only take about 2 days in order to get it approved my insurance, Tricare, and I am so nervous. Then I can schedule my date....so I am hoping to get this done by the first week in August. Reading everyone's post give me hope, 1 i will get it approved and 2 it will be beneficial to me. I am so ready to win this battle against my weight.
