    Calling all A11s!!

Hello fellow August banders! My name is Rachel. I am 32 years old. My highest weight was 282lbs and I wore a size 24. I am happily married to my best friend for 12 years now. He is a Staff Sergeant in United States Army and that makes me an even prouder American. We have 4 beautiful babies, Jordan(girl, 10), Gabriel(boy, 5) Cadence(girl, 4) and Matthew(boy 2). These kids and my husband are my world!! I am originally from Ohio and I miss but we are stationed here and Kansas and the home is where the army sends you. I am 6 days post op(banded on the 23rd) I am feeling WONDERFUL. I have a slight pains here and there but doing well and haven't touched the pain meds. I found I lost 25lbs during the 2 week pre-op diet so needless to say I was stoked and even more motivated. Hope everyone is doing well and healing up well.
  7. I got my approval today from my insurance!! Yay! Now just waiting to hear from my surgeon's office in order to schedule the date.

    Tri Care Standard Ins.

Mine was pretty easy as well....the biggest hold up was getting the psych eval and nutritionist appointments scheduled. Good luck!

    OMG!! I'm so nervous!

I was nervous as well...I started mine yesterday and actually wasn't that bad. Even though I made my family my favorite dinner of meatloaf I was okay...smelled good but I managed. You will be okay. Good luck.
  11. I hope you hear about the insurance approval too...I know that wait was the hardest for me. It was only 16 hours from the time my doctor sent it in until I received the call from Tricare(my insurance) which really shocked the hell out of me because it's the Military and their slogan is hurry up and wait. LOL. Once I was approved it felt like a weight was lifted off of me.

    It's my day!!

Good luck and congratulations. I hope you have a safe surgery and a speedy recovery!
  13. That is awesome! I would love to have a surgery buddy too! My pre-op diet is high protein and low fat and calories. I have to do 2 protein shakes, I am using slim fast high protein and a weight watchers meal for dinner. So far so good today. I am starting to get nervous about the procedure though. LOL

  14. Starting pre-op diet today. Also today is the first day of school for 2 of my babies, but mom has 2 more at home to keep her busy.

    INSURANCE APPROVAL!! :)

I am starting to get really nervous as well. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. My date is on the 23rd. Congrats to you and good luck.
  16. Has anyone experienced people they loved or cared about trying to talk them out of getting the surgery? For the most part I have had my family be completely supportive, especially my husband. I have however had a couple friends, 1 heavy like me and 1 skinny twig, try and talk me out of having this surgery. I didn't just decide this on a whim and have battled obesity my whole life and researched this procedure for a year. I am now in my early thirties and have 4 kids that I want to be healthy for and be active enough to keep up with. If someone has had this issue how did you deal with it?
  17. Absolutely...Thanks for adding me. :) I will keep you posted, do the same as well.

  18. I am so worried this pre-op diet is going to be difficult.

  19. Hi guys! My name is Rachel. I am a happily married mother of 4 and impatiently waiting to have my surgery. I had my psych eval last week and go in on Thursday for the report, this psychiatrist likes to give the patient the report first before faxing it to the doctor. After this is turned in to the surgeon it should only take about 2 days in order to get it approved my insurance, Tricare, and I am so nervous. Then I can schedule my date....so I am hoping to get this done by the first week in August. Reading everyone's post give me hope, 1 i will get it approved and 2 it will be beneficial to me. I am so ready to win this battle against my weight.

I am hearing a ton of wonderful things about New Hope...I am just so ready to get this done and over with and start this journey. I know it's going to be hard work but I am looking forward to it. Yes, I was very fortunate to have insurance pay for it. They didn't expect you to jump through tons of hoops either which is strange for anything to do with the military. LOL. The best thing about the military is the full coverage of health care. How are you feeling? I am hoping since I was a champ all 4 c-sections, back doing laundry and caring for kids after 2 days, that this recovery will be cake. Hoping, I am a little older now. LOL. Is there alot of discomfort or gas? The hubby only has 4 days off work then its back to him being gone for 12 hours so I am hoping I will be okay and back on my feet to keep up with the little ones who are not in school yet.

    Keeping Lap Band a Secret

I have decided to just keep it to a few people because I have had a few bad experiences with a few close dear friends who I thought would be 100% supportive, when I was researching the procedure. Now it's just my parents, sister, my wonderful husband and a really good friend since we live so far from our families. We are going to need her help with the kiddos.
