  6. I have really been stuggling these past 3 weeks finding meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My usual meals are: Breakfast: Protein Shake Lunch: Turkey Cheese roll up Dinner: 2 oz chicken breast, cheese stick I am so tired of these, please give me your food ideas.
  7. I was sleeved on Jan 17th so I will be a little over 3 months from my surgery so my goal is to lose an average of 20 pounds a month. I am going to start my training next week for a 10K at the end of April and a Half Marathon at the beginning October so I am hoping that running 3 days a week will help to keep my weight loss steady. 8. Each surgeon's office is different but I was not weighed on the day of surgery so if I had gained 5-6 pounds before surgery, I dont think that the surgeon would have known. I thinking for health reasons your friend should try to eat healthier this week before the surgery so that she will not gain any more weight. Jen
  9. I lost about 4#'s during my Options class and I was sleeved on Jan 17th. There was a few ladies in my Options class that didn't lose any weight dueing the 12 weeks and both were sleeved before me. As long as you don't gain weight during the 12 weeks then you will be ok. The surgeon who will preform the surgery may require you to lose some weight before he will do the surgery. My surgeon didn't ask me to lose any weight but 1 lady in my class was requires to lose 20 pounds before the surgeon would give her a date. So don't stress about losing any weight, just don't gain. Jen
  10. Thank you, I just had surgery on Jan 17th so I have not lose a lot of weight yet so I am rolliong around this same question in my head everyday. I have only told 2 really close co-workers and my husband only because I have been on a weight yo-yo for over 4 years now. On a daily basis some one in my life asks me about my weight so I have decided that I am going to start going back to weight watcher next week before I return back to work. So when everyone asks me how I am losing my weight I can say am on weight watchers and it will be the truth. No one will ever doubt me because I lose over 125 pounds with weight watchers 4 years ago. I am sure that no one will come ask me directly if I had WLS. When and if the time comes that I want to tell people about my WLS then it will be when I am ready. Jen
  11. Congradulation Barb!!! I had my sleeve on Jan 17th so I know that is a special and magical day. Jen
  12. I was sleeved on Monday January 17th in Bakersfiled CA by Dr. Irani at San Joaquin Community Hospital. I got to the hospital at 5am for check in, surgery was at 8am was in recovery at 9:25 and in my room resting at about 11:30 with a drain that has to stay in until my 1 week check up on January 25th. The doctor told my husband that he had to repair a hiatial hernia and that the vsg surgery was a success. Monday afternoon ans night, I had the worst pain and nausea that I have ever experience in my life. I could not drink anything for 24 hours until both of leak test can back negative. Tuesday afternoon when the leak tests were complete, I was put on a clear liquid diet and released to go home about 5pm. I was released with liquid vicodin but no anti-nausea meds so Tuesday night I slept 3 hours and dry heaved for 30 minutes in cycles. Finally on Wednesday, I was able to get in touch with the doctors office and get my anti-nausea straight. Now, I am on a smooooth road to recovery. My husband stayed hom with me Mon - Thurs but had to go back to work today. He was my rock these past days and I dont know what I would have done without him. Thanks for listening. Jen
  13. I know exactly how you feel, I am on day 2 of my diet and I have cheated both days with Lean Cuisine meals for dinner. I started my 2 week (yes 14 day) pre surgery liquid diet on Monday January 3rd and my surgery date in January 17. My diet is 3-4 protein shakes a day, plain eggs, low fat cheese and sugarfree liquids only. I would be super happy to have your pre-surgery diet for the next 14 days. I am going to try my best each day to stick to the diet guideline. I am going to hope and pray that my surgeon will be happy with my liver when he opens me up and be complication free once he is done with the procedure. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as we both try to make it through this difficult time. Jen
  14. Sorry, I posted this in Tell Your Story by mistake so I am reposting it here. I am scheduled for my vsg surgery on Monday January 17 so I have to start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow. For the next 2 weeks I will be living on 3-4 protein shakes, sugarfree drinks, plain eggs and low fat cheese per day. I am so nervous and scared that I won't be able to do it. Any suggestions and tips to help me make through these next 2 weeks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jen

  16. We have the same sugery date January 17th. I feel exactly the same way, I first tried to get the RNY surgery in 2005 because I didn't know about the sleeve but was not approved by Kaiser. I feel like I am in a dream and it won't feel like reality until I am wheeled into the OR room. I wish you the best of luck and a smooth surgery. We have to keep each other updated and motivated to use the sleeve to reach our weight loss goal. Send me a PM and I can give you my email so we can keep in touch. Jen

  19. I saw my surgeon today and got my date. Drum roll..... Monday January 17th. That means that my new life begins in only 19 more days.
  20. I am meeting the surgeon, Dr. Irani in Bakersfield at 10am to get my surgery date and the details of my pre-op diet. I am hoping for a surgery date of January 17th. So please cross your and wish me luck. Thanks, Jen
  21. I am in the same boat as well. I have been eating everything under the sun since my Kaiser Options classes ended on 10/26. I have gained close to 20 pounds in the last 2 months because of all of the fast food and junk food that I have been eating including all of the holiday food as well. My thinking was that since I was going to be losing weight with the surgery then I might as well enjoy these few weeks before I have the surgery and have to been on a liquid diet for weeks. I have to meet with the surgeon this Thursday 12/30 for my final appt and to get my date, I am afraid that he will not give me a date until I lose these 20 pounds. So I have decided that I am going to go on liquid protein diet for the next 3 day to try to lose some of this weight. Wish will luck. Thanks. Jen

I see that you have some an amazing job getting to goal and below. I am 32 years old, 5'6" and at 244 right now with a goal of 125lbs so I am curious how long it took you to get to goal and below? What you eating and exercise regime was like for you to get down that low. I am hoping to have my surgery on January 17, 2010 so anything you can tell me to help me get to my goal I would greatly appreciate. Jennifer
  24. OMG. That is awesome to lose 30 pounds in 6 weeks. You should be super proud of yourself. Please don't let anyone tell u that have not done an amazing job. I haven't had my surgery yet but if I lose 30 pounds in 8 weeks then I will be over the moon happy. I think that every body loses that different rate because of starting weight, age and exercise levels. Just keep doing what u are doing and u will be great. Please stay positive. Jenn
  25. Yeah!! Yeah!! Yeah!! I got the call today with my date to see the surgeon for Thursday December 30th at 11:30am. I am having my surgery done with Kaiser in Bakersfield at San Joaquin Hospital with Dr. Irani. I will be getting my surgery day at this meeting so I am hoping to January 17th. I am doing the happy dance. Wish me luck. Thanks, Jenn
