  1. Hi, I too got my period shortly after coming home from the hospital which was shocking to me since I take the Deppo shot for birth control and haven't had an actual period for a few years (just spotting, no real bleeding). I immediately contacted my surgeon and he explained to me that this is a verry normal reaction to being put under anesthesia and it happens frequently. Mine lasted for two weeks or better and it was pretty darn heavy for about a week. As for the pooping I think I pooped the first day I was able to have my protein shake but it wasn't much but now at almost 3 months out I do it on a daily basis sometimes a few times a day, but then every so often I won't go for a day, but I've never taken anything for it. Hope this helps....
  2. I had my surgery July 18th at UCLA Medical Center, I was discharged from the hospital Wednesday the 21st which I am told is the typical amount of time to expect to spend in the hospital, the hospital sucked the second day because they took me off my pain pump. In the hospital I was really sore and my back hurt from the awful bed but all in all I was ok. My first night at home was much better although laying flat in my bed made breathing uncomfortable; I was off my pain meds my second day at home and after that I only took them at night. The discomfort in bed only lasted like three days which is about how long my extreme discomfort lasted. I'm ending day 15 today and I feel great! I was only tired easily for the first fiveish days. I no longer feel any discomfort at all (well bending down can be uncomfortable at times lol) and I can start the treadmill tomorrow, my incisions are all scabbed up and a few are healed with no scabs, that and being 15lbs down in 2 weeks is pretty awesome! It is mostly discomfort not too much pain, but follow all instructions your Dr. gives you and take it slow! Good luck!!!!
  3. OMG!!! I thought I was the only one choking!!!!! Although I haven't been sleeved yet (my date is 7/18/2011) this past month has been hell. My Dr. said it was my acid reflux and to take my Previcid. She also said it was very common to feel like you were suffocating because of the acid; but mine was really bad since a few weeks before I had actually choked on my food. I had full blown panic attacks and wouldn't eat, it became a full-blown phobia for me enough for my Dr. to prescribe anti-anxiety medicine! As the time has passed I am now able to eat I just chew my food really well and I try not to eat too much. Keep taking your medicine and you will be 100 times better!!!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!

    Consultation is scheduled!

Congratulations!! My consultation is Tuesday May 17th. You are almost there! I'm super nervous and don't really know what to expect, good luck! I too am hoping to have my surgery early to mid July!
  5. I have been looking through this forum for a while and it seems that everyone knows their surgery dates months in advance and have already met with their surgery Dr. and now I'm thinking I'm somehow behind. I have been referred by my PCP and went to the Options seminar and now have two Options classes left this Friday and next, since I'm hoping to get my surgery at UCLA I went to their seminar last Saturday but still haven't met with the surgeon nor do I have the slightest idea when my surgery will be. Oh and I did my blood work, all is normal so I don't get it. One thing that scared me that I didn't know was that the titanium staples stay in your stomach forever kind of a scary thought but it doesn't deter me. I just wonder why I never came across that fact in my research......
