    Almost 2 months - down 20 pounds

I'm so sorry you aren't loosing faster. But you are doing the right thing in seeing the nutritionist - they will be able to help you. I would look up thinoneday who posts on these forums. Thinoneday just broke a 7 MONTH stall and has been a slow looser. There are others who are slow loosers too that post on the boards. You're certainly not alone in that aspect of it.

    Going crazy

You will come though the surgery just fine. You have told your surgeon about your medications and you need to follow his advice - he knows what he is doing. It is tough to go through the surgery. There's a lot that goes on in our heads building up to the surgery and then again after as we deal with the changes that are happening. What you are feeling is nothing to be ashamed of - it's actually pretty normal. It may be therapeutic for you to write letters to your children before the surgery. It might also be helpful to talk to a psychologist - perhaps the one your surgeon had you see for the psych evaluation. There's nothing wrong with talking to someone professionally about how you are feeling.

    Potty Talk

I just talked to my surgeon about this yesterday. Unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done to stem the flow. It will change when solids start, but until then... If you are having a lot of it though, you may want to speak to your surgeon. Mine told me that if I was going 7 to 9 times a day every day then he would be concerned.

    One week post-op update

Thanks for the replies. Yup, I'm loving the sleeve right now. I stopped by the hall where I work today as I needed to get a couple of things there and one of the ladies who I haven't seen since before my surgery (although she knew I was having the surgery) said that she thought my stomach area looked thinner. Then one of the other ladies (who I happen to be staying with at the moment) also commented that my "front" looked smaller today. I can't see the difference yet though. It might have been the top I was wearing - a relatively new top that is slightly loose on me. But I'll still take it.

    Newbie from Chicago

Welcome to the forums! Sorry about your cousin. Personally, I have not told my family. A few years ago, when a friend of mine had the lap band done, I was casually talking about it with my family and my sister went ballistic and told me to never ever have WLS because it wasn't safe, etc. I reminded her that I wasn't the one having the surgery (at that time), I was just relaying what a FRIEND was doing, but it didn't matter. My parents didn't like the idea either. So, when I decided to have the surgery this year, I never told them. I don't plan to either. When I do see them again and IF they inquire about my weight, I'm just going to tell them that I made lifestyle changes and am not eating as much and have started exercising (which is not a lie). Of course they live in a different state than where I work, so it's going to be a while before I see them again. However, I have told many of my friends from work and all of them have been supportive. Bottom line, it is your decision who you tell. Only you can make that decision.

    Packing for Hospital Stay

Frankly, all I took with me was my cell phone because I needed to call the person who was giving me a ride home when I was getting released so I could go home. Otherwise I wouldn't have even taken that. I wore the same clothes home that I wore to the hospital - like someone else said, make sure they are "lose". When I was in the hospital, I had the tv on for entertainment, but ended up turning it off so much because of various nurses coming in to check on me that it wasn't all that entertaining. Once Nurse Cratchet allowed me to walk, I was up and walking as often as I felt like it. I just had to have the nurse come in an unhook the compression baggies they had on my feet (they insisted that I have them on the entire time I was there, even though I was walking around) and untangle all of the cords/lines that went from me to the iv stand. Once the nurses saw that I could walk under my own power and was feeling good walking, they left me alone until I made it back to my room and they would come back in and keep the lines from getting all tangled. I also had a Foley catheter for most of my stay - so they had to take it from the hook on the bed and hook it on the iv stand so I could walk around. Why they didn't remove it earlier is beyond me. I also got the sponge on a stick to keep my mouth & lips moist - that was really great. They provided several personal care items so I could clean up if I wished. I am glad I was wearing their gowns as my incisions bled a bit (they were glued over, but still bled through a bit), so that way I didn't ruin some of my own clothes.
  12. Good luck today! You'll do great!
  13. Yes, your cravings will most likely go away - most of us that has happened to. Since being sleeved a week ago, I no longer desire sweets, pizza, big macs, etc that I absolutely loved before my surgery. In fact, the couple that I am living with brought home a pizza yesterday and put it in the fridge on the shelf right above the shelf I am using for my "special food" (foods they don't like such as cottage cheese). Talk about putting temptation in front of a person! But, I don't even want it - the thought of eating just a bite makes me sick. Before surgery, I would have easily eaten the whole large pizza by myself. Yup that is my new sleeve working it's magic! Do your research on both surgeries and once you make up your mind, do not let anyone (even your surgeon) talk you into one that you don't want. Many people are very happy with the sleeve. I have seen a couple of others (their names escape me at the moment) who are shorter (around 5' to 5'2) who have gotten the sleeve and are losing weight with it.
  14. So sorry that you are going through all of that! I hope you get feeling better and all healed up so your surgery won't be postponed.
  15. Good luck to the July 19th sleevers: readyforachange38 Hanir happygirl2011 Mercyanew And anyone else who is also being sleeved. I hope all goes very smoothly for each of you. Please update us when you can.

Congratulations on the loss! That's fantastic!

    Medifast for pre-op diet?

Probably. Check with your surgeon to make sure though. Some will have different requirements for protein shakes after surgery.

    Will I definately lose weight???

Head hunger is very tough. To be honest, you didn't to too awful with your choice at McD's - it could have been much worse. Don't let this get you down though. So you slipped. Big deal. It happens. Just get yourself back up and dust yourself off and re-commit tomorrow to not stopping at McD's. I used to stop at McD's multiple times every day before surgery. I gave it up on May 18 when my dietician said that I had to. Was I perfect? No. I stopped a few times - but I tried to make much better choices than I used to. I even stopped at McD's 2 days before my surgery! I just ordered a salad and went without the dressing - so I think I did good, but still I was tempted for something else. I am only 6 days post-op, but I can tell you that certain foods that I used to love just simply turn me off now. The thought of eating a Big Mac just turns my tiny stomach right now (and I LOVED them before surgery). pizza no longer appeals to me - I have seen so many commercials for pizza lately and frankly I get sick thinking about it. So yes, you will lose weight. Your new sleeve is a tool that can help you learn new, healthier eating habits - plus the fact it can't hold very much will definitely help!

    Uti

So sorry about that. Is it possible to crush the pill or cut it in half so it's easier to go down? Hope you get feeling better soon.

    9-22-11 A new begining

Congratulations on making it this far! Yes, you will be the mom in 2025 at your twins high school graduation - probably the hottest, skinniest mom there!

    Good luck July 19 sleevers

I know what you mean about the nerves. The night before mine, I was really nervous. But then the morning of the surgery I was really calm - kind of at peace with it. You'll do just fine and wake up a totally new person!

    Chili Night!

Thanks for posting the recipe. I saw the picture on your FB page and thought it looked yummy. Sadly, it's a bit too spicy for me, but it still looks good.

    Medication Question

The best thing to do is talk to your surgeon about it. He/she will know best. I know a lot of people end up decreasing the pills they have to take after getting the sleeve done. Personally, my surgeon told me to continue the 3 oral medications that I was on before the surgery in addition to taking the Vitamin and calcium chewables twice a day. I realize that's not nearly the same as you, but thankfully that's all I was on prior to surgery.

I'm glad you went to the doctor and got it figured out. I hope you feel better soon.
