    Is SUSHI HEALTHY?

my fave sushi place made me rolls w/o rice...different but good! I was @ 6 weeks out when I caved and had sushi (i had it with rice too!)
  2. Thanks guys! That and fitting in a seat with room at a concert last Saturday...this is such a great life change! Its not easy but sooooo worth it!
  3. I'm finally OVERWEIGHT! NOT OBESE by my BMI!!! HOLY COW! I'm sooo happy.
  4. I eat sushi...can have like 2-3 pieces of a roll...eaten SLOW. (which is nearly impossible for me, only 2 pieces at my normal speed) I can have a few bites of bread...or pancake or pizza, potatoes or dare I admit french fries...lol. I ate a McDonalds burger with mac sauce on it and just the bottom of a roll...IT WAS SINFUL and AMAZING...lol. First time I have done that in months. I didn't even cave for that months before surgery...lol. Good luck...I say, eat what you want a bite at a time...wait every 3 or so and make sure your tummy catches up with your head! MANY times I'm ticked off cause my tummy says DONE well before my brain has even enjoyed my food!
  5. yup...its where they did a stitch (usually a vicral) it dissolves, I had one too. I looked at my doc and was like, "seriously...did ya tie that knot way to tight??" (I was an OR nurse...lol) He said it would go away...and its almost gone. Not completely. I have lost 60 lbs andf the belly pudge is still lopsided. In the end I'm sure it will shrink and look better. Thats why our docs are general surgeons, not plastic surgeons...lol.

    FULL??

My problem is that I still eat too fast. My full signal is hiccups but if I eat fast I get them a little late and get a bad pain right at the base of my breastbone...ugh. I try to eat slow...but I'm not good at it.

30 days out and not losing

RIGHT! Stalls happen...kick up the water and activity if you can and it will happen....its normal and your body will likely drop 2,3 or more lbs quick at the end of the stall.
  8. If you're asking me when surgery was...it was 4/12/11. This has been my NO LOSS week...ugh! This weekend better get back on track! I always do better on the weekends, its tough at work with all the planned eating times and snacks!
  9. Lookin Good! Have fun with your new look!
  10. For my day...(lets start with I am a rule breaker...lol) Get to work for 7 am. Cup of coffe with cream and sugar (normal no low fat no splenda...just reg old sugar and cream) Break @ 9am is Breakfast. 1 packet sugar free maple & brown sugar oatmeal drink a bottle of Water through out the day lunch 11:30. Lots of time lunch is delivered so whatever it is, Moe's, Chilie's, Panera, chinese, sushi...I pick out about a half cup of mostly Protein and the a veggie or fruit. If there is dessert...and there usually is...I go back @ 2pm and have like 2 bites of something...cookie, brownie...whatever it is but seriously like 2 bites or a handful of peanut M&M's. If we have sushi I have like 2-4 pieces of a roll depending on how long I have to spread out my eating time, spider rolls (softshell crab) and sweet potato rolls with eel sauce are my FAVORITE! Dinner: whatever I make for the fam. chicken is big in my house or I'll make something for them and eat a bite here and there of dinner. If its Pasta I'll have a few bites then add some imitation crabmeat to my plate. (thats my grab n go) After dinner I am a night time snacker...I cannot break that habit along with all the other changes...so I have a handful of kettle corn or 2 bullseye caramels (60 calories a piece) Basically I track it all on my fitnesspal and I'm honest...I try to keep the carbs in check...if i have more at lunch I have to be more careful at dinner. Some days I'm good, others I'm bad...but I want to live the way I want and so far its all working for me. Could I lose faster if I picked my lazy bootie off the couch and exercised or skipped the M&M's....sure, but I want to be happy too. So...theres my day, love it or run screaming....lol! Do what works for you and MAKES YOU HAPPY! That is whyt we all did this right????
  11. Me too! I know its crazy...but I found if I add some carbs to my diet I lose more...wierd huh? And I do the same thing with the weight drops. I lose nothing and hover the same 2 lbs all week then on the weekend it seems I drop like 2-3 lbs like nothing??? I just keep pluggin along cause I keep losing. (I was sleeved April 12th so we're like a month apart...but I have been doing this for @ a month and a half.) I have taken pics though and the difference is hard for me to see day to day...but the pics the other night kept me sane! Do you keep track monthly or so of your measurments? I see changes in inches even when I don't see pounds shedding. Keep up the fantastic work!!! Tammy~
  12. So...I am not diabetic. I was tested SEVERAL times (strong family history of type II) I knew if I did not have the surgery...the door I was knocking on...the looming diabetes was gonna hit! So...now I lose all this weight...less than 50lbs to goal...and my sugar is HIGH!??? I ate a packet of SUGAR FREE oatmeal this morning for breakfast, felt awful @ an hour later, checked my glucose level...168???? What is going on!? I will be FURIOUS if I did this and still end up diabetic!!! I mean I know its not just weight...but COME ON!!!! Anyone else have varying levels early out from surgery (its almost 3 months for me) I am a nurse and I just can't wrap my brain around this. What else can be causing these spikes???
  13. Ok that wa supposed to say bloodwork...today, darn auto correct on my phone! Anyway, I went at lunch...I should know more next week...I'll keep you posted!
  14. No fruit...no drink....nothing else but some water like 20 minutes after the oatmeal. Battery of woodwork tomorrow....never a dull moment.

What Did Ya Name your Sleeve?

I named mine WALTER...after Jeff Dunham's (the comedian) old man puppet. He's a grumpy, cantankerous, snarly old man and you never know what he'll 'say'....JUST LIKE MY BELLY! Its picky and grumbly and noisy....and likes one thing one day and not the next! LOL...so WALTER it is!
  16. I eat salad...I think I started getting things like grilled chicken salad out at about 6-8 weeks. I eat some chicken first then some salad...tomatoes and cukes...oh and hard boiled eggs sliced up too...then take it home and had 2 more meals out of it...lol.

    Avoiding Protein Shakes

I have the same issue. I basically "dump" whenever I try a protein shake. I can only do the isopure protein water. (16 oz is I think 32g of protein, but $5 a bottle) I live on cottage cheese, and crabmeat, shrimp and greek yogurt. I can also do chicken though and even smashed up a well done pice of burger with pickles and ketchup...gosh I miss a cheeseburger...lol. I tried some reg ice cream last weekend while we were out for the day celebrating at Cold Stone...few bites in...cold sweat, trouble breathing, dizzy...I don't know if its milk or sugar or milk and sugar cause no other dairy has bothered me. Funny thing this sleeve is huh??? A few posts up there are peanutbutter balls that have protein in them...try that. Oh and in the beginning I would buy low sodium cream of mushroom soup and mix in some unflavored protein powder. Hope any of this helps!
  18. I got them in Hannaford on my sisters recommendation when I was on Medifast. She liked them...I never even opened them...lol. I ended up chucking the medifast and the noodles...HAHA! BUT...after reading these posts I get it! My sister CANNOT SMELL!!! That must be why she could do it! Heck I still say that was why she liked some of the medifast stuff better than me too..the smell was GOD AWFUL!
  19. I got dizzy several times today with position change. It was really hot and I got sunburn...but I definitely drank all day, not dehydrated, so why all the dizziness??? Its not my BP or my glucose levels, they are all normal and eating is finally better, so what is going on with me? I can call the MD tomorrow but I hate to "alarm" anything and end up with more testing that goes no place. Any thoughts, oh wise ones, who are ahead of me??? xo
  20. see that..you're starting to love it!! Yay!
  21. 50 lbs in 10 weeks has me lovin my sleeve (not 100%...lol, but like 90% haha) I'm happy...and feeling better. Almost halfway there...and losing is getting SLOWER...I guess this is where I have to start putting some effort into it! I have kinda skated by losing no matter what up till this point. Time to become a bit more diligent about protein, water and exercise! Can't wait to see what my next 10 weeks brings!!! My next goal is to just be 'overweight' instead of obese on the BMI scale....lol.
  22. Thank you all so much...you guys have kept me going on the tough days... *hugs*
  23. No no no no HEATING PAD!!! Did I say NO to the heating pad! definitely do not want heat on your belly!! Your surgeon would blow a gasket!!! Post op the hospital can give you a hot pack or hot Water bottle for your shoulders or back if gas pain is bad, but not a heating pad in the hospital and DEFINITELY not on your stomach!!! Heat increases blood flow and definitey will not help incision pain or inflammation! Please do not do that...no one...heat is not your friend on you belly after surgery. The only place to even consider it is on your back and shoulders if your having bad gas pains (fortunately mine were bearable) I'm sorry to sound crazy about that, but in the practice I work for we tell people every day, Ice no heat after a procedure and people ALWAYS grab the heating pads and then call to say how bad the pain is!!! UGH! I LOVED my chap stick...saved my life and I liked my flip flops...easy on and off when i was in and out of bed. Oh and I brought my own robe for walking the halls. I loathe hospital gowns so i also had jammies (2 piece so the docs could peek at my belly if needed and so the leads for the ekg could stay for the day they were on. My cell charger and a fan is a good idea. I had an old cold room mate who always wanted the heat cranked...thank goodness a tech brought me a fan (I didn't even know floors had them...lol) It was wonderful! Oh and the tee shirt I wore in was snug on the way home...my belly was swollen so make sure you bring easy on/off clothes that are loose. Good luck!!!!
