  1. I definitely think it was too much too close together and you are beginning to stretch the sleeve while it's still swollen and healing It would take me 3 sitting 2 hrs apart to eat a 6oz yogurt! But it's also possible the protein bar caused an obstruction if it went down wrong or turned the wrong way. I hope you are able to get some medical attention sweetie
  2. Jerry, that's great news!! Congrats! And thank you everybody
  3. My experience was EVERYTHING had to come out, I dont' have other piercings but do have a 2nd earring hole with studs I never take out and had to take those out... and those are definitely not in the way of my tummy They said everything had to come off. I have the problem of the holes closing up easily but I brought them in my bag to the hospital and put them in as soon as I was coherent.
  4. Sounds like you are doing wonderfully! That's great!
  5. Hey all! Wanted to hop on here and give you all an update. Today I am at 282, that's 28 lbs down in 3 weeks whoo hooo! Still not supposed to do any strength training until 6 weeks just stick to my walking, but I can swim before then if my incisions are all healed up. The pain I've been having is cause by scar tissue supposedly... so hopefully that will keep getting better. Also I'm supposed to go see my regular doc and get a script for Celebrex to try for my ongoing back pain. I hope that helps!! Overall I am feeling great about the surgery and where I'm headed. Really looking forward to being fully on solid foods and having my pick of anything I want to eat (I get bored so easily with the same stuff over and over.) I miss feeling full... but that's one of those things I have to just get used to.:huh0: As for Ian, his 1 week appt was today and he is down 16 pounds. He started some select soft foods a few days early also. They don't give sleeve guidelines very well at our place, they just group us with bypass, so we get HUNGRY. So he started on those and I started my full soft diet a week early (with permission). I think that has slowed our initial weight loss results slightly but in the long run who cares, it's all coming off baby! Whoo hooo! Ian has been walking for 3 days now. As for me I have been walking 2 1/2 weeks now and I'm up to 1 hour & 3 miles now!!! Had to take a break today due to blisters on the bottoms of my feet but we still walked all over the hospital for our appointments.... not to mention, the elevators were down, so we hiked up SIX FLIGHTS of stairs to our nutrition class!!!!!:001_tt2: For me it was hard even with walking so much lately, but for poor Ian just a week out it took all of his energy! We napped when we got home though and we are good as new:thumbup:
  6. Congrats! You are doing so great!! Good luck with the vitamins, I can swallow it but it makes me almost throw up so sticking with the liquid for right now but since you're at 6 weeks you might have better luck. Keep it up chica!
  7. I don't know how I missed this yesterday! I am so sorry you went through so much at the hospital, but glad you are home and feeling better. Wishing you all the best sweet Maddie.
  8. :::::::happy dance:::::::: :biggrin0: You should be so proud of yourself :drool5: You truly have saved your life and you are making such great strides. Congrats.
  9. I'm still very early on in the process but I had two NSV's today. Firstly, when I was walking this morning I looked down and what did I see? Or rather... NOT see? My tummy! It wasn't sticking out past my boobs! When I looked in the mirror later from the side I can see it does still stick out a bit past... but when I'm walking with good posture and whatnot, I can't see it. This is awesome because just 2 weeks ago I would look down and see it sticking out a good 3-4 inches. The other thing is I have a pair of jean shorts I wore in my before pictures and they were very very tight when I wore them for those photos a little over 3 weeks ago. Today I put them on easily and comfortably, and I can even fit both hands in there because the waist is loose now. I wouldn't be able to wear a smaller size yet because it's still snug around my lower stomach, but I was just really happy to see how much looser they've gotten.
  10. I'm only at 3 weeks but I usually drink 12oz in an hour typically.
  11. I'm so proud of you! I know it's hard but you are making the right choice for yourself and it's going to be so much easier to meet your own needs now. Wish I could help you move stuff!! Of course I'm only 3 weeks out too lol. I'm seriously just so glad that you are making this move and going to be on your own. Good things are ahead and you will be that super happy person again. *hugs*
  12. Sissy, my friend had the same prob, weights never did anything for her triceps. She has been doing this boot camp class the past few months and they make her do 100 push ups each time (3x per week) and her triceps are now rock hard! Not saying you have to do 100 but maybe instead of the weights try push ups. Hope this helps!
  13. Thanks for sharing this ~ it's really motivational! I am going to start strength training after my 3 week post op appointment (assuming he gives me the go ahead to do so) and definitely going to have a focus on my arms. Thanks for including the photos it really is amazing.
  14. For me it happens more with drinking than it does with eating... but I burped a lot before surgery so hubby is barely noticing
  15. 5 miles a day is so impressive! I wish I could do that but my back pain prevents it (which I'm hoping will improve some with weight loss). I am walking about 50 mins a day right now but not sure the distance. My legs feel like they could go forever but my back gets all cramped up and needs rest at a certain point. I am so glad you are able to do this for yourself. Amazing progress and thanks for sharing your story! Now post pics!!!
  16. I would say the opposite - the sleeve helps but what YOU do with it it at least 75% of the result. I think you should be damn proud and not sell yourself short of your huge accomplishment. Congratulations!

Can you tell me what the hernia feels like? I am wondering if I have one. As much detail as you can share would be really helpful. Thanks for sharing your 6 month update, I will definitely go check out your youtube videos.

Hey guys, I have posted some new blog entries about my hunger, and about what I've been eating lately at 2 1/2 weeks post op. Thought I'd share in case you are interested. Feeding the Hunger Things I've Been Eating
  19. Hehe ok... well the tuna I made yesterday was not from the book, just threw some stuff together, and I mentioned the 'recipe' for it somewhere earlier in this thread. But the book does look really great, and is designed to either eat the foods whole, or chopped up or even pureed. It was written by a patient of my surgeon and I bought it in his office but I did find it here on this website: Ginger's Gourmet - Eat to Live, Stop Living to Eat
  20. Oatmeal does most of it's expanding when you make it so you are probably safe there. I am eating way more solid stuff now thanks to that lady the other day and it makes a huge difference. I would suggest making it as thick as possible, not runny, so it won't go straight through you... and also I would suggest adding in unflavored protein powder so you can get some protein content in there! Be careful and try a little bit at first and see how it goes but I think it is a great idea.
  21. Yes, when I go out today I'm going to buy Prilosec and try it for 2 weeks and see how I feel. I think that is a good idea no matter what. So - that second batch of tuna last night kept me full the whole rest of the night. I should have eaten one more time but I didn't... but yay!! I feel so good knowing this is helping.
  22. Maddie... what happened? Did you have your surgery?
  23. OK so the first 2 ounces didn't keep me full the entire 2 hours, but it was definitely a huge improvement! The second batch I still ate 2 ounces, but took my 1oz liquid vitamin in addition, and I am full... it's been about an hour and a half now and still full. But I felt maybe slightly more full than I would have wanted so I am thinking 2 1/2 ounces might be the magic spot. Will try that at my next meal. Thank you all for following along with me.
  24. thanks laura.... I like your ticker!
