  1. It's all I think about too. Can't wait to go to bed so I can get up and weigh myself. I know, shouldn't weigh myself every day. Anyway, I'm only at the 2 month mark but I've lost 30 lbs so far. An average of 15 lbs per month. I'm happy with that.

    Fab 40's shout out

I'm 46 and have a terrific hubby of 23 years. 6 kids, ages from 8 - 22 years. I finally had to do something about my fatness and inability to do things with my family. 29 lbs down so far. I have 54 to go. Went from 22 to 18. I'm starting to get compliments now. It's nice!!
  4. I felt lousy too. Hey, its only been 3 days now. You will feel better each day. I'm sure in just a few more days and yo will be very glad you had surgery. I had the surgery with Dr. Corvala on July 16th and I have lost 28 lbs. I'm very, very glad I had it done. Just get through the next couple of days. It will get much better. Hang in there.:huh0:
  5. I can't seem to figure out how to do the ticker weight thing. I go to the website, fill it out. But how do you get it to your profile? :confused1:

    Tijuana Mexico

I also had the surgery in TJ with Dr. Corvala. Ditto on everytheing CKnorte said. Everything went smoothly without a hitch. I would recommend it to anyone including my family, which I'm already trying. I have lost 24 lbs now. A little hunger sometimes but I very quickly fill up. that half a cup of spaghetii and sauce sounds about right. It's funny, when I ate before I would full gradually and even after being full could still continue eating for awhile. Now, I get full very quickly and can't eat another bite. Its great!!

    NSV: new clothes!

Congrats on your sizes!! I know what you mean about not spending alot of money on clothes. I had my surgery 5 weeks ago and I've gone from a 22w down to a straight 18. I had a few things in size 18 but not much. I'll have to go to the thrift stores to find something to tide me over. Again, good job! Doesn't it feel good!!

    Wanting Surgery

I had my surgery with Dr. Corvala in TJ. Check him out. Great Doc and hospital. He's done the most plications. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. I had my plication on July 16th.
  9. Congrats on your decision! I had the plication on July 16th with Dr. C also. Everything went without a hitch. If you know any Mexican, great. If you don't, its not a big deal. They know basic words and if they don't know what you are talking about ask if someone else knows more English. The Dr's know English perfectly. It's a beautiful hospital and very, very clean. Do you have trouble with acid reflux now? You will be given a nutrition sheet and it will tell you take something for that. Like Nexium or Previcid. Good luck in your new adventure. Feel free to e-mail or ask any questions. Julie:001_rolleyes:
  10. I know I read an article a few weeks ago why we shouldn't drink while eating but can't find it. Can anyone help?
  11. I know I'm not at goal YET but hey its only been 1 month. 1/4 sounds good. At the rate I'm going I'll be at goal in the late spring. I started out at 233 now I'm 211. Getting closer to the 100's!:confused1:

    July Surgeries

I totally agree Kathy. Can't wait to see a year down the line. I put on a size 18 capris today. Not 18w. Just 18. It's my last pair. Everything else is too big. I'm holding off on getting anything until its cold enough out for pants. Won't be that much longer here in Minnesota.
  13. My insurance would cover but only with medical issues. Then if I could get past that hurdle it would still cost 15,000.00 Ugh. I went to Mexico for 7,000.00
  14. You are absolutely right nurse_ally. We HATE being fat! That's why we had this surgery. We want to be healthy! That's why we had this surgery. We want to jog around the block, wear cute clothes, get looks from guys (oops, don't tell my husband.) sit on the floor and get up easily, not worry about getting diabetes, sore knees, etc. Hey, this is for me too. I have eaten the way I want for the last 46 years and now its time to be healthy. Sure, I wish I could eat 4 big pieces of pizza. Those days are over. It's ok, now I get to be healthy and cute.
  15. You are doing awesome, Carol!! Sounds like you are going headfirst toward your new you! I've been doing a walking video. (Notice I said video.) It's an old one but still gives me a good workout. I actually sweat, LOL. Getting into new foods is great, isn't it? I can't wait to hear what you lost!!
  16. I too had thought about the lapband. I actually made an appointment with Dr. Kuri for the surgery. I continued to read about issues that were affecting some people and decided I wasn't willing to go that route. I did have the plication with Dr. Corvala. It went great. It has been almost 4 weeks now and I have lost 13 lbs. The whole experience went without a hitch. The hospital staff and Dr's are wonderful. Nothing to worry about.
  17. When I see the weight loss from everyone it is hard to not be discouraged. I had my sleeve on July 16th. So now its been 3 and half weeks. I've only lost 13 lbs. I did lose 7 lbs pre-op. I;ve always been a slow loser no matter what diet I've been on but I thought this would be different. I eat between 600-800 calories a day. Anyone else like this? I need some encouragement.
  18. Thanks for the encouragement. My BMI was 36. I have 63 lbs left to lose. I guess it is more than I normally lose in this time period. I guess I just needed to vent. Thanks or listening.
  19. Maybe I'm dumb but what is a bougie?

    Week 3 - weigh In = 3lbs! gone

Congrats on your 21 in 21! That great!!! Wouldn't that be cool if it would continue to go that way. Sounds like you're disciplined in weighing only once per week. I just can't do that. I find myself on the scale every day. I know, I know. I shouldn't do that.
  21. Hey, you had your surgery the day before mine at the same hospital. Did you by any chance talk to my mom and I? She had blonde hair and glasses. I talked to you in my room and I was still in bed. You were getting around great. Just wondering if that was you? My name is Julie and my mom's name is Sharon.:confused1:

    gastric sleeve plication

Yes, us plicationer's should stay in touch. Dr. Corvala did tell me since this surgery is so new there isn't alot of data from years of experience telling us the long term effects. I guess that makes a tiny bit concerned. Does that piece of stomach that is rolled up just sit there? Would it ever die? I don't know. Just thinking out loud. How are you guys doing with your food now. Still at the mushy stage. I admit I've had some harder food. I find out that it can hurt some. I had some beef meatvballs the other day. They hurt. I had some frosted mini wheats (I know, bad) without milk. They hurt. the soft stuff feels the best but what I wouldn't give for a big slice of pizza with everything. MMMMMMM! Remember the good old days. Julie

    gastric sleeve plication

Hey, I had my surgery done with Dr. Corvala also. Mine was on July 16th. I had a terrific experience and look forward to more weight loss. I've lost a total of 17 lbs so far. 7 of them are pre-op. So I guess only 10 since surgery. How about you? Yes, I know there isn't that much info on the plication. I think he's done less than 75 so far. Only a couple other Drs. are doing them in the states.:sad0:
  24. Can you put it on from this website or from another? Can't figure it out.
  25. Hi, I had my surgery on July 16th. I had the gastric sleeve plication. I'm so glad I found this website. I'm sure it's going to help me through some difficult times. I've been overweight practically my whole life. Starting at about age 14. I am now 46. I have wanted to have a weight loss surgery for many years. I considered having a lap band and actually had an appointment to have it done in Mexico. Our insurance was horrible and with it would have been double or more. I read about the complications and wasn't willing to go that road. My aunt was scheduled to have the gastric sleeve and decided to investigate that route. I called a health travel company in Mexico and was able to schedule my surgery for the exact same day that my lapband was originally scheduled. I really wanted it then because of my vacation time from work the next week. I needed that time to recover. From the time I made the appointment to the time I had surgery was 2 and half weeks. WOW!! Fast huh? I hear of people waiting an entire year. I guess that's because of insurance. My experience in Mexico was wonderful. Everything about it. If anyone wants to know anything about it I would be happy to tell you. Please e-mail me. I had the Gastric sleeve plication. The difference in this surgery is instead of cutting off part of the stomach, the part that would get cut off is rolled and sutured instead. Less invasive. I lost 8 lbs before surgery only because I was so nervous. I've lost 9 since with a total of 17. Slow compared to some people but I'm happy. In years past if I didn't lose faster I would have been discouraged and probably quit. You can't quit this diet. That's the good thing. I have'nt experienced any serious pain from eating the wrong food, only slight discomfort. (The hard boiled egg didn't sit well.) I now weigh 217 and want to get down to 150. Wish me well? I look forward to hearing from some of you.
