    Enerfina

Hi Quinn! Of course, always, always check with your MD. But what helped me in the begining was the SF popsicles! I just made another post saying this same thing: the first week is the hardest. Things start to get alot better after that. I hope you start to feel better soon!!! (But again, always check things out with your surgeon just to be safe)

    Hurts When I Drink

BTW, I could not tolerate the gas x pills. I just took the prilosec and raglan (sp?) the first week or so for nausea - which was very mild.

    Hurts When I Drink

Enerfina!!! Welcome to the losers bench!!! I think the first week is the hardest! I was told no more than one ounce every 8 to 10 minutes! And I was lucky to get that in. But after about 5 or 6 days, it starts to get easier and easier. I think it's because the swelling starts to go down. We are all different so it can vary a bit. But I was just like you in the begining. I can say that for me, at week 2, WOW, I felt great and things got much, much better. But again, I think the first week is the most challenging. Just keep plugging away at sip, sip, walk, walk, sip, sip, walk, walk... it's a job!, But you'll get through it! Best of luck! Post with how you're doing!

    Gurgles

Nine months out here... still happening! BUT, the good news, much, much less! Also, certain foods cause it and others don't. I also have a better sense of "the gurgles" coming on and I slow things down -- taking a loger break before the next bite. Overall I can say, it does get better! :-)

    Weight Loss After Vsg

I'm one of those folks that has had HUGE stalls!! Up to 4 weeks... and several. I've had a stall / loose pattern. Until recently when the loss has leveled off to about 3 to 5 pounds a month. I have lost 83 pounds and look and feel great! I learned that our bodies are not machines. Loosing 20 to 30 lbs in a couple of months is amazing!!!! Gosh, even people with devastating illness don't lose that much that fast!!! We have to keep perspective. I always to told my self to be patient, that everyone's body is unique and I just kept doing what I needed to do. It really does come off! :-)

1 Month Post Opp Today... Wth!

I'm no expert but my understanding is that weight training creates a temporary gain in water weight.. the muscles become "inflamed" and as your body repairs the microscopic tears it retains liquids to use for healing. Sounds like you're doing everything right. I struggled with a bunch of stalls in the begining and it was so trying. I just focused on doing what I was suppose to. I know it's soooo difficult but if you know you're doing everything right, it's going to go in the right direction!!! BTW, congratulations on your weightloss AND all the changes you have made. You are sure rocking that sleeve!!! Hang in there!!!
  9. I don't know how helpful this will be but I will share my experiences. I actually do a variety of things. For two reasons: to keep it fun and to handle excuses. So I go to the gym but I mostly enjoy riding a bike, walks and hiking. I love taking walks and or hikes, especially on weekends, on different trails and parks. I make "dates" with friends so it's a social thing and we go out for a cup of coffee afterwards, not always. I sign up for events (like 5ks or bike rides) to keep me motivated. At home I have a treadmill and videos because if it rains or could not make it to the gym, I can still so "something at home." I also love music so I keep my ipod with a good, energetic play list to use for walking or just for movement at home. I too am looking into a personal trainer because I want to learn to use the weight machines at the gym. But I still have to try zumba and a few other classes that look interesting. I've attending kick boxing, weight/cardio classes and a few other and I also go to yoga. So for me, mixing it up is the secret. I just go for it. I don't worry about keeping up with the class or anything. I just join. And my staples are as above: walk, bike, hike... oh, and spin class when it rains or I don't get out :-) I love spin because of the music. Okay, like I said. Dont know how helpful this will be. Alot of us struggle with this. You're not alone! Best of luck on your journey. You got this!!!!

    Jeans For Small Waist/big Thighs

YES!!! I recently found Levis at Macys! They now have this new sizing with three different cuts made just for women! Maybe 4: slight curve, demi curve, bold curve, and I believe supreme curve. They go form least to most curvey. I am like you, bigger hips and thighs and very small waist. I go the bold curve. This was the FIRST pair of jeans EVER, any pair of pants actually, that I did not have to alter in the back!!! They just fit!!!!! I am so hoping they have white jeans for summer. Check them out and post what you think! Maybe other brands will now follow along!!!! Here's hoping!!!!

  22. You look BEAUTIFUL!!! and a wonderful post! Congratulations on a job well done!!!!!!!!
  23. Mika, I just wanted to clarify that I did drink protein drinks, NOT just water or fluids, for six weeks.
  24. Mika! You need to check with your surgeon! Everyone is different, MDs have their patients on different regimens. I was not cleared for mushies till week 6! I know others started sooner... but probably the safest thing to do is check in with your MD and his/her plan for you. Congratulations on your progress. It's so great that you are doing so well and feeling good!!! It gets better and better!!!! :-)
