    1 Month Post-Op

Thank you so much for your post!!! I am a couple of weeks out myself and starting to do quite well too! I loved your story and the fact that you can finally enjoy that wonderful t-shirt!!! Enjoy your achievements and congratulations!!!!!! Thanks again for posting!
  7. You are AMAZING!!!! I see nothing holds you back LOL!!!! Good for you!!!!! Congratulations on that great event AND for a wonderful cause too!!!! What an inspiration!!! ... I know what you mean about refusing to walk the bike. I'm the same way. My rule is " I RIDE" even if I have to stop and start, I ride. LOL Once I kept being offered a SAG up this hill - which I kept refusing. I think the guy just thought no way I would make it. But my will is as big as my big butt!!! :-) I made it up. I did need a SAG down thougth LOL. I was so afraid of the speed and I could not seem to wrap my hands around my breaks well enough. I was afraid I would crash. You know how fast some down hills can go! Especially when you're heavy. Oh well! :-)
  8. You look GREAT!!!!!!! You are such an inspiration!!!! Enjoy the fruits of your hard work!!! You've earned it!!!
  9. Wow!!! You look GREAT!!!! The kids are really cute too!!! :-) Congratulations!!

    Oh no ... :(

Hi Tamz, I had a temperature for a few days too. It went up to 100.4. I noticed that when I walked it went up a bit. I was told that because it was a big surgery, the walking increased the inflamation. It's a big stress on the body. I monitored it and took it easy and it would go down. I'm not a doctore but I was told that it becomes more serious if it starts to climb over 101 and you also start to feel really bad. I undertand your feelings because when my temperature was up I really freaked out too. But after three or four days it was just fine. Keep monitoring it and if you are overdoing it with the walking, slow it down. Good luck in your recovery!!!! I know, the first few days are rough!!!
  11. I didn't have burning per se, but I did have some difficulty with my sutures. I think I pulled something with a sneeze!! I know!!! Anyway, I discovered the recliner made it worse. If I sat up more it didn't seem to "stiffen up" so much. Also the frequent walking and moving, even if it hurt, made it go away. At times it was completely gone after some movement. Then the cycle would start again. This went on for about two or three days. But the good news is that it did get progressively better. Hope you feel better soon!!!!

    I did it!!!!

Glad to hear you are doing well!!!! The first two or three days were the hardest for me but things got better daily. They especially turn around right around day 5 o 6. Best of luck with your healing. Looking forward to hearing more about how you're doing!!!!

    So Much Conflicting info

Hi Samantha, I'm pretty new at this but in my past experiences with diet I found, like several people comented already, that the type of food makes a difference in my weightloss - namely CARBS! For example, I've always had a difficult time loosing with weight watchers even when I followed portion control to the letter. The idea of eating whatever I wanted but just moderately would not work for me. Then I figured out that when I left out the carbs I did really well!!! So it's probably that different bodies work slighty differently. For some of us, carbs mess with our metabolism more than others. Hope you find some answers soon but no matter, congratulations on all you have accomplised already!!!!! You'll get there!!!!

    BMI too low

Hi Bee, so sorry to hear about all the run around! I had a very similar experience. I know not everyone has this option, and I'm very fortunate to have it: after a great let down, I had a heart to heart with my husband and we decided to finance it. I just could not believe the craziness of the insurance crap. I am 48 years old and frankly I just did not want to waste more time. As soon as I decided this, I saw my surgeon and three weeks later I had my surgery! That was 6/6!!!! I'm recouperating well and moving on. When I think that at this point I would still be running around jumping throught hoops, I feel so fortunate I was able to do this. Hopefully you will have the "crappiest" results possible on your sleep test and the insurance will finally cover you!!! Just don't give up!!!!!!! Worst case, you could post here and ask what other options people used for financing/self pay. Best of luck. I'm rooting for you!!!!!
  15. WOW!!!! I love this story!!!! How cool is this?!?!? CONGRATULATIONS to you for all your courage and hard work!!!!! [clap, clap, clap] MNB PS: I see you in a cycling jersey! I love to cycle too and look forward to getting back on my bike. I bet climbing and long distances are much more fun with the weight gone! I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to that!!! :-)

2 weeks post op & Stomach bloated....

Hi Dawn! I'm not sure how much help I can be to you since I just had my surgery on 6/6, but here go some thoughts. I had some "bloating" on my right side, and it felt hard to the touch. This has, however, consistently subsided since surgery, day to day, and is actually feeling and looking quite normal now - with the exceptions of the incisions themselves. I have had some pain off and on on my actual sutures on my right side. I think at one point a few days ago I sneezed and somehow pulled something. Sounds so stupid but that's whay happened. LOL. With your symptoms I would be tempted to call my surgeon and check in with him. Particularly since he found some Fluid. I always worry about pain and figure the body is trying to say something. I would also take my temperature just to make sure. Personally I would feel more comfortable making that call. You never know, he may give you some good ideas of how to help it along if anything else. Take good care and lots of good wishes for a speedy recovery!!!!!!! MNB

    New to the Site

Hi Adri and Welcome! I too was sleeved on 6/6 and working on recuperating. I am finally able to get all 70 grams of Protein and 64 oz of fluids. I've actually surpassed my fluids and my Proteins have been between 70 and 80 grams. I've stuggled with dizziness and feeling extremely tired. I also pulled a stitch somehow and it became soooooo painful, even more so than after surgery. But overall I see the progress and it's moving in the right direction. I remind myself that it's JUST been a day or so past one week after major surgery. I know each day feels very long, at least to me, but it really hasnt' been that long. I've also felt up and down mood wise and I think it's been because of what feels like hour to hour changes. I'm totally caught up in what I eat and drink, walk i.e., protien, fluids, Vitamins, Calcium, meds etc. So, it's like a job LOL But it all does seem to get better day to day. The people on these boards are AWESOME. So, keep having a looksy here and there. They will encourage you and inspire you! Best of luck and I hope your cold gets better soon as well.

    WELCOME Gym Rats!!!

Hi everyone!!! Sorry I haven't posted in a while! Was sleeved 6/6 and have been working on recuperating. I've had some ups and downs but, mostly things have been getting better. I managed to somehow pull on the sutures.. don't know exactly what I did, but it was more painful than right after surgery. It's begining to calm back down. I did manage to walk right from the start and built up to a couple of miles per day. Yesterday I skipped because of extreme pain in suture. I'm working it out now and taking little baby walks throughought the day. I'm not sure waht they are adding up to, but I have definitely been active. I think it's helped my recovery. I'm really missing my spin classes and being out on my bike for certain. I know it's not forever. Congratulations to all of you pushing through!!!! Thanks for your posts since they are sooooo encouraging. LillMissDiva, hope your tummy gets better soon. It seems you have a good grip on what's going on! Good luck everyone! MNB
  21. Glad you're home!!!! I've had some ups and downs but mostly on the way up. It is a process. We'll get there. Sending good thoughts your way!!!!
  22. I've been having the exact, same problem. I could not even begin to take those chewables. I was recommended liquid vitamines - Blue Bonnet. Not too tasty but very good in terms of content. It does have a few more carbs. I was advised against the gummies at this stage unless I can be absolutely sure I can suck on them and not swallow any particles. My MD is big on ONLY liquids. I was just sleeved 6/6/11. I noticed someone also suggested dissolvable crystals. That may be a great option too. I take two adult doses which equals two ounces. I was told the vitamines are best absorbed when taken with Proteins so I break it up into four doeses of a table spoon each. I take them throughout the day so as to spread them out and increase absorption. I also got the liquid vitamines of the same brand. Hope this help. Best of luck with this!!!!
