failed fill attemp
Just came from what was supposed to be my first fill. Both nurse practitioner and surgeon tried. They thought they were in the port, but weren't getting any saline return. Ended up with at least 10 sticks, multiple multiple re-directs, 4 muscle pokes, and instructions to come back in 4 weeks. Still doing 2 days liquid and 2 days mushies just in case. I am so disappointed. Any other bandsters have similar experiences?

Best Protein Shakes
Dymatize gourmet vanilla, 110 cal. I bought at GNC, but can be gotten on the web. Mixes well with anything and tastes amazing.

Many questions...need answers :)
You can get pregnant while banded, but they suggest not for 18 months after, and the band will be unfilled. The band is a permanent thing, and when filled properly, you should be able to eat about a cup of food. BUT you can't drink until an hour or so after you have eaten and you can't drink while you eat. Not sure about the nutritionist, though. I think it depends on your surgeon. I had a one time fee of $400, but can still see the nutritionist when I want. Good luck!!

Hubby's Comment
Hubby may not be able to understand how hard it is to roller coaster. You might just have to turn a def ear to him and imagine what you'll look like in the not-so-far off future. This is your choice, what you think is best for YOU! Best of luck

comorbidities?
I understood the post just fine, thanks. Was trying to be supportive and offering more food for thought if there isn't a co-morbidity.

horrible tom cramps what to take?
Try a heating pad, or those disposable heat packs in the personal care area of the drug store if you're not at home.

comorbidities?
Just read about gastric plication. It's like a gastric sleeve, but uses stitches instead of cutting. Qualifies with a BMI of27!

Anesthesia (sp?)
I've been put under a few times, and the worst thing I can say about the whole thing was a slight buring feeling in my hand (IV site), and that only happened once .

Medical Necessity?
Do you snore? If you do, you may have sleep apnea. See about setting up a sleep study and getting a CPAP machine. It might take a month or two, but so does the process of qualifying for a band what with the paper work, doc visits, psych evaluation, and insurance approval. I have a BMI of 38 and 100 lbs over-weight. I have sleep apnea and PCOS, both which qualify for the surgery. I'm getting my band June 6, and totally looking forward to it. Best of luck!!

Looking for June 2011 Bandits!
Getting my band June 6! Got my info packet yesterday, and whew! It's starting to hit me how sucky the 2 week liquid diet is going to be. I just keep telling myself it's the best thing I can do for myself! Melissa in Richmond Va

So excited!
Finally got my date! Getting my band June 6. I'm a little worried about the actual surgery, but mostly about what to tell 9 year old DD. Any suggestions?

I'm getting banded in June, and also worried about a fairy high on my backside. Hope she's not too droopy!
