  1. I am with you. I hate comments from people like thatangry.gif. I have not told anyone except my husband and kids because of hurtful things people say all the time. People can be very mean. Just keep up the great work and to h#*& with her.wink.gif

  2. I was banded May 17th and am down 40 pounds.biggrin.gif No real issues. I love my band. I have had 3 fills and am at 5.80 in a 10 band. I havent lost any weight for 3 weeks now but I am thinking it because I am going to the Y for 3 cardio classes a week. I am not sure how much I should be eating on those days.huh.gif

  3. Hello Suzi, I live in Texas and have Cigna insurance. I also used True Results in Austin. Mine was all covered except for deductibles and my portion.

The patient advocate at True Results called and told me that my insurance, CIGNA, will cover my Lap Band, and she gave me an out of pocket price, CIGNA requirements, etc. However, when I look up my insurance summary it says obesity surgery is excluded. Could it be that CIGNA can exclude the Lap Band procedure from an obesity surgery exclusion? Or is someone pulling my leg?

  4. You might need to relieve your self. To do this is to gently put your fingers to the back of your throat and make it come up. Sometimes if I am stuck this is the only relief I can get.smile.gif

OMG ! I think I'm having a heart attack. I haven't even had my first fill yet and I just experienced the horrific feeling that I have heard so much about.

I have been allowed to eat regular food since Sat. I have 2 Protein shakes and 1 meal and so far no problem my opening is still open quite a bit (or so I thought). Today I heated up some left over chicken and broccoli and had 1 piece of each and thought I would die.

Obviously I didn't chew it enough but at this point I thought I was doing my constant chewing as a practice for my first fill WRONG.

I have been dry heaving and just bringing up foam for the last 3 hours. If anyone knows how to hurry this up I would appreciate the help !!! I am going to start chewing Water so as to be positive this never happens again.

Please everyone chew chew and chew again little pieces. Take it from my stupidity so you don't have to go thru this.

I wonder how long this lasts....... My Md isn't in sad.gif

  5. I travel alot with my job and have no issues. I take my Protein drinks and use the fridge in the rooms. I also grab a yogurt and ceral in the morning from the Breakfast area of the hotels I stay at. As for eating when I am on the rode I order things like Soup or chili. Sometimes I order grilled chicken breast with veggies. I have less issues on the rode than when I am home.ohmy.gif Maybe because I am more carful or its because I am alone and no one to talk to during dinner so I pay better attention to what i am eating.

  6. I had no trouble with lifting after surgery. You will be fine 2 weeks out unless you are lifting some really heavy stuff I dont see an issue.

Thank you so much for replying KatwomanTexas!! I am adding you as a friend because I think I may have more questions. :) I plan on taking my Protein with me. Just wondered about lifting luggage and laptop at 2 weeks?

  7. I travel a lot with my band and have had no issues.smile.gif When I am on the road I always try to order Soups, chili, and other foods like that. Since you are newly banded you probaly wont be getting stuck but most likely are on mushy stage. Those kinds of foods are easy to find. I do always take my Protein shakes with me and use the hotel fridge to cool them. I am 4 months out but still use Protein Shakes because of the amount of cardio I do.

    Any questions just ask.

  8. My band journey includes behavior and the use of fills. I am not filled so tight I cant eat. Mine is at 5.2. I need that to curb my hunger because thats why diets never worked for me because I wont go hungry. Now that I am into this since May17th. I have come to learn that I must excercise to get my mind and body on board for this life altering adventure. Today I joined the YMCA. I had been taking classes and was unsure if I should join but I am actually going to the classes enough to make the membership worth while.wink.gif I love the way my mind and body are changing.
