    April 2011 Bandits

Day 34.... I did think I would be further along, but I am feeling good anyway. I lost 10 lbs the first week. Since then, only an additional 3lbs. Today my pants felt a little looser. Others say I look great, but I can't imagine that I look much different... I am walking every day. Monday- Thursday I have a walking buddy at work. We walk pretty quickly for about 20 minutes. Plus I get short walks in throughout the day. I feel like I am eating SO much less than before surgery. I still need to work on better choices. I woke up this morning with a sharp pain on my RIGHT side- a couple inches right of my midline. The pain has been pretty constant all day. Any thoughts? Could be totally unrelated to surgery I suppose! -Robin

    April 2011 Bandits

Staci!!! Thank goodness someone else is going through this! I feel like I can eat anything I want as well! I chew the life out of it, but I haven't had problems with ANYTHING! Self control... hope I have enough. Today was my first post-op appointment. I am on day nine and have lost 10 pounds. I want to be super excited, but honestly, my weight fluctuates 5-10 all the time. Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled to see the scale moving down, but the true journey will be for me to keep it going down. But 10 pounds- yay! I have grown to hate my shakes. I can't stomach them at all. Fortunately for me, I love skim milk. I can get most of my Protein from milk. The bad part is the calories, but my nutritionist did a side by side comparison with milk and Protein Shakes, and I'm really not getting too many extra calories by nixing the shake and going with milk instead. And this is a lifestyle change, if I can't stomach it now, that won't change. I'll stick with my milk! Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories so far. It really helps to see everyone else's journey right along with mine. I'm getting great advice too. You know what they say... 2 heads (or in this case a couple dozen) are better than 1! Robin
  3. Thank you for the heads up! I didn't realize this!

  4. Hey! Congrats on being banded! If you look closer to the bottom of the forum, there is a group sticky already made. I think it was made in feb or march.. Happy Banding!

  5. Hi everyone! I thought it might be nice to have an ongoing chat with others who are going through what you are RIGHT NOW. If you were banded in April 2011, share what's going on. How do you feel? What are you eating? First doctor's appointment stuff... I'm Robin. I had surgery April 20th. I felt HORRIBLE for the first 5-6 days. I took my vicadin every 4-6 hours, but I still was in pain. Something happened between day 6 and 7 though. I feel SO much better! I am still sore, and god help me if I sneeze, but it's getting easier every day. My stomach is healing well. My bandages are off and I'm just being careful to wear soft clothing. I am ITCHY! That's getting better though too. The hardest part for me right now is not being able to monkey around with my kids. My three-year-old daughter is being so careful not to hurt me, but one little elbow to the side during snuggle time ruins that pretty quickly! The first 5-6 days I ate malt-o-meal, applesauce, and Protein shakes. I'm on my 8th day and just had a cup of beef ravioli for lunch. I actually had a soft taco from Taco Bell last night. It didn't really taste as good as I remember.... hmmmm.... guess that's a good thing! I have my first pre-op appointment tomorrow, so I have no idea if I've lost so far. I know this- I haven't gained! Hopefully we can keep this thread going with our little April group. I'd like to get to know a few names and stories. Look forward to hearing from you! -Robin
  6. Congrats! I was banded April 20th too! How's your pain been?

    5 Days Post-Op

Congrats on your May date! I didn't really have a pre-op diet, except for generally eating healthier. I plan to go back to work on May 16th- which is 3.5 weeks. I was given Hrydroco- which I believe is Vicadin. It was liquid and tasted awful, but it helped a lot. I still have some left, but haven't taken any since day 5. I am starting to eat "real" foods again. I had a small bite of cheese today, which went down well. I had a bite of cheerios which did NOT! It didn't come up, it just made me feel sick. I am so sick of Protein shakes! My pain seemed to linger longer than other people have said theirs did, but something happened between day 6 and 7 (today) and I feel so much better! I don't have all the answers, but I sure will try to help if I can!

    Surgery like C-Section?

I just had my lap band surgery 5 days ago. I have 2 children- ages 7 and 3- both c-section. I would say the recovery so far has been "similar", but not the same. My first c-section recovery was terrible, my second was not so bad. This is somewhere in between. My big problem- I can't cuddle my girls right now.

    5 Days Post-Op

Had my first BM yesterday. (Did I really just say that? lol) Here's what I've eaten the last couple days: Yesterday: yogurt, Protein shake, maltomeal, Protein Shake Saturday: maltomeal, protein shake, applesauce, protein shake That's pretty much it! How about you?
  10. Hi everyone. I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Robin. I am from Wisconsin. I just got the lap band five days ago! My journey began about a year and a half ago- when I started the approval process. My surgery went well. I am tired and in pain, but not hungry! Anyway, feel free to ask me anything. I know I'll be asking a ton of questions too.
