  1. I had my first fill on the 12th also. I had to lower my calories to 800 to lose any.The scale hasnt moved much but I can tell that I have lost inches. I am told that my body is losing the fat and gaining the muscle from the excersize, muscle weighs more than fat and thats why no decrease in scale. I walk 3 miles every day with hills and 5 miles on sat and sun. I know how it affects your motivation, so Im right there with ya! maybe try to drop the calories down to 900 and see if that helps. I know if I eat 1000 I cant lose. Good luck!

  2. Dear Itray, I too was banded on Dec 7. as of Dec 20th( which was my first post op visit) I had lost 23 pounds and then gained 4 of it back over the holidays. I did not get a fill on my first post op visit because i was eating about 1/2 cup of food and I was feeling full and satisfied. Well that quickly changed when the next couple of weeks came around, even though I stayed pretty closed to my 1100 calorie diet. When I ate, I was okay for about a couple of hours and then I was hungry again. I tried to always keep a sugar free Jello, or a yogurt on hand to kill the appetite. Today was my 2nd post op visit and the dr was happy that I had only gain 2 pounds. She said everyone is different in their healing stages and that if I was getting hungry between meals, it was time for a fill. so I got 2 ccs, which she said is standard on the first fill. I get only liquids today, but since I had nothing on my stomach earlier, I ate 1/2 cup of runny Protein oatmeal when I got home around 3. and I felt great! I figured I needed something in my stomach if I was going to walk my 3 miles at the gym. Keep strong! its a healing process the first 6 weeks. When is your next dr visit. Oddly enough when I weighed tonight I acutally lost the 2 pounds today! I use myfitnesspal.com to track everything I eat, even a cracker and my exercise. I do 3 miles every day ( 1 hour walk) Good luck! I hope this helps you!

  3. I wasnt allowed to have any shakes or milk until day 5 of my surgery. Your stomach is still healing and it is too hard on it. It was too hard for me to drink cold stuff anyway. What got me thru was the hot apple cider mix. It was warm to my tummy and helped satisfy me. I would make it as hot as I could drink it. I would one in the morning and one in the evening. you can usually find it next to the hot cocoa mix. They have it in sugar free also. Hang in there it wont be long and you can have Protein Soups, they are thin and wil be very helpful.

  4. Mee tooo! I had like a tablespoon of mac and cheese, dressing, green Beans, and a small slice of turkey. My saucer looked so empty. My husbands plate was so full he couldnt put rolls on top!! I laughed at them and said I think they need to try to eat like me so they will know what its like. It was plenty, I did not overeat and yes I am on my second glass of wine!!! Happy New Year to you!!

  5. I guess I have a different view on things. I made Peanut Butter fudge the other day and I ate a tiny tiny piece. I didnt feel bad, because I keep my calorie intake around 600 and I am walking 1 hours each day with an average burn of 455 calories. so I am not going to deprive myself. The band is a TOOL, it is to help you eat LESS. are you suppose to eat a whole bunch of candy NO, but dont deprive yourself if you want to taste test. AT least you arent eating all the Cookies. Make sure if you do eat something, you count it in your calories. I use the myfitnesspal.com and keep us with what I eat along with my Protein intake and my weight. Do be disapointed in yourself... look at what you have lost and how far you have come. You are doing fantastic!

  6. yes!!! My surgeon at the military hospital said I would be lucky to lose 40 pound, but he signed of on it stating "40 lbs is better than nothing, it would still improve your health". I wanted to smack him!! He tried so hard to talk me into doing the bypass, and I was like NO WAY! so he sourced me out to Dr Lavin, and his nurse practioner said similar, I will never lose 140 pounds with out the bypass. well tough, I am using it as motivation and had my bypass on 12/07 I have lost 23 pounds to date and I went for my first post op visit yesterday. The nurse said I was doing good, that most lap band patients gain after the surgery.. I dont know what planet these people are on! Look over the lapband talk forum, there was one person who had her surgery in March and has lost 112 lbs. I want to be like that person! Hope you do well, keep your chin up! and we can do this!!

  7. I almost did that recently, had order tomatoe and shrimp cream Soup ( not exaclty diety, but it was all they had that I could eat) anyway, I took a bite of the soup with a small shrimp and also without thinking took a bite of the bread. Didnt chew enough and it got stuck, thankfully I hadnt taken a huge bite and it eventually went down. but it was kind of scarey for me. Needless to say a good reminder of what we are NOT suppose to eat.

  8. Hi Nicole! I was banded on Dec 7th ( my new birthday). Although I was VERY lucky, I had hardly ANY pain, just alot of soreness in my stomach area. I have seen many posts about the pain in the chest and nausea. I know I was very blessed and lucky to be spared. Our whole way of thinking when it comes to eating and drinking has changed. My nurse told me " you have to take small sips or swallows and breathe in between each one to let it go down. and when you eat, take very small bites, like 1/2 tsp full and wait for it to go down so it doesnt back up in your throat." I have been following her instructions. I can only eat about 1/4 of mushies and I feel full. Im losing about a pound a day a total of 13 pounds since surgery. I feel better, I am extremely happy and everyone around me can tell. We have made a great decision getting the lap band, one that will be greatly rewarding in the future. Good luck in your weightloss adventure and keep us posted on how you are doing! Welcome to the other side!!
