  1. I also quit using the e-cigs in November of last year. I was actually becoming one of those people that hated being around smokers. My sister passed away suddenly in June and I immediately picked up cigarettes. I stopped again in July and I am going back and forth with it now. I may not smoke for a month or two then I get depressed and the first thing I do is buy cigarettes. Not to mention none of my family knows I started back and I don't want to hear it from my parents so I'm now a closet smoker. It's ridiculous at 40yrs old I'm hiding it but I guess I just don't want to admit I'm a smoker again.

    ADD and Strattera

I started taking mine 2 days after surgery. I tried to dissolve them as much as possible but after about a week I just swallowed them and everything was fine. I was only on a liquid diet for a week. After that I was on mushies for several weeks. I'm 8 1/2 months out and had no problems with the meds. I take add medicine as well.

    VSG in Juarez

Dr. Rod did my surgery 2/18/2011. Awesome all the way around. I love Miguel hope he's still there. He is one of the nurses that speaks English. I had my surgery on a Saturday. Saturday night was bad. I did not think they had good pain meds. That was my only complaint. By Sunday afternoon I was fine and I was bored and ready to go home by Monday. All tubes and IV came out Monday and I just sat around until I could leave on Tuesday. Met another girl while I was there that had surgery and we still keep in touch. My friend and her and her mother would sit around the coffe shop and visit during the day. We both felt great by Monday. Flew home on Tuesday and was back at work the following Monday. No complications. I did have to change family doctors because when I went to mine for blood work she acted like I had a second head for going to Mexico. Found a Internal Medicine doctor that her dad is a bariatric Dr in Thailand and she knew exactly what to do for follow up. I have lost around 70lbs. I live in Alabama. I started out at 302. Hoping to be under 200 by Christmas. Good luck.
  4. They are kids... Don't worry about what they think just make sure they understand nothing serious is happening to you. I did not go into detail with my child because I didn't want him blurting it out somewhere but that is totally your choice. They will be disappointed but it will not be the only time in their lives. I promise they will not remember that you did not take them shopping once. Just tell them your not up to it today and you will do it when you are and leave it at that. I am not one that answers to my children so I might sound a little mean but in the scheme of their lives this is not a big deal. If you push yourself to do things you are not ready to do that could end up a big deal in their lives. Not to scare you but you need to thing about the long term of raising them to adulthood and being around to do it. So take care of yourself first. If they are anything like my kids they will get plenty later. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

    Shoulder pain after surgery

I only had it a couple of days with this surgery but when I had my gallbladder taken out 5 yrs ago. I had it for a week. I finally went to the emergency room because it was in my chest and shoulder. They are the ones that told me about the gas. Something my surgeon probably should have told me. If you haven't had a bowel movement that makes it worse. The emergency room sent me home and told me to take milk of magnesium and stay close to the bathroom. That solved that problem. I'm 8 months out and feel great. This to shall pass. No pun intended.

    loosing slowly

I have been a slow loser all along as well. I would go 3 weeks nothing then 1 week of 7-10 lbs then 3-4 weeks of nothing. I am in 7 month and lost 57lbs. I have had a lot going on personally but I'm not sure I would have lost any more if I didn't have the family issues. However, it's 57lbs. I feel so much better. I can walk up stairs without having a heart attack. My son had surgery last week so I had to mow the yard for the first time in years and I was really dreading it because when he was younger and I was bigger I thought I would die half way through the yard. I used the weed eater after mowing and cut the shrubs. Hot but not exhausted and panting. So I know I have already saved years off my life and I'm just hoping that I hit close to 100lbs at my 1yr mark. It will come off it has to it's just holding on as long as it can. Slow down on how often you weight. You get depressed weighing everyday. If your following a high Protein low carb diet it will come off and then you will be happy if you wait a month and your down 10lbs. But, up 1lb down 1lb will drive you crazy.

    On an Airplane

Now the breaking a chair is a funny story instead of humilating. My cousin and I were just talking last night about her mother in law who is a very large woman has broken several chairs in restaurants. I said I'm not sure I would have continued going out if that had happened to me on more than one occassion. Praise God it never happened to me at my heaviest 302. I'm now around 245 so I still have a lot to go but I can fit i booths comfortable now. so I think I will stick with that till I lose some more just in case..

    Was not going to post

What a blessing... I am sure your going to be great. My dad had his colon removed a few years ago due to sever colonites(sp) and they called him and said it had cancer but it was early stages and it never spread. So blessings do happen. Not only will you be skinny but cancer free. God is Good all the time.
  9. I went to Mexico on 2/18/2011 and had vertical sleeve. Everything went well and the weight was falling off. On June 8th my only sister and best friend died in a car accident. My world fell about. I quit taking my vitamins, watching protein and just tried to eat my way through the grief. Fortunately my stomach did not allow me to go back to food for comfort. I have not lost as much as some but I am still happy with my weight loss. I have lost 57lbs in 7 months. I think if things had went different for me I would have lost more but we all deal with the cards we are dealt. I am just now starting to settle back down. My sister had 3 children that I have inherited and I have been focused on getting them settled and estate settled and so forth. I am committed as of October 1st to start focusing on myself and my health so I can live to raise all these kids. . So hopefully my weight loss will pick back up. I think right now I am not eating enough and getting my protein in so my body is storing. The weather is getting cooler so I am out of excuses not to exercise. Hopefully, at my 1 yr I will be at goal with hard work and exercise. Oh, and my child has broken and dislocated his shoulder. He had surgery last week so I think I have some pretty good excuses right now but 10/1 look out the excuses are over and I'm getting on the weight loss train again but hopefully for the last time.

    Why Have surgery in Mexico?

There was just no way I could afford to have the surgery here. In Alabama the least expensive I found was 30,000. I paid 6990.00 in Mexico. My insurance does not cover weight loss. I ended up going to Juarez. I know it sound ridiculous the murder capital of the world. I think there are really good doctors in TJ but I chose Juarez because it was a full service hospital. If I needed a heart doctor or whatever they were there. I wasn't concerned until they took me down for the surgery and I was in a waiting area and it was so hot. I thought OMG I am in a foreign country getting surgery. Then they put me to sleep and I woke up in a very nice hospital room. It was like a little condo. It had a seperate area for my friend 2 bathrooms. It was great. The trip to Juarez concerned me but it went fine. They picked us up at the airport and took us straight to the hospital it was like an interstate. They didn't take us through the heart of town. We never left the hospital even though there was a mall across the street because we were in Juarez after all. I have nothing but positive things to say about the hospital and staff. Well maybe one. The pain meds sucked. I only had pain the first night but what they gave me did not help at all. by day 2 I was bored and ready to go home but they kept me for 3 days just to make sure. I'm new here , and I have noticed a lot of people are saying they are getting or have gotten surgery in mexico, why there and not here in the U.S?

    Juarez Mexico

The hospital is the reason I chose Juarez as well. Take your own pillow. They give you a little one. I would also take bandaids. They do not use little things that cost extra. They will just tell you to hold cotton on it. I will forwarn you the first day is not good. Their pain medicine was not strong enough for me but after the first day I was no longer in pain. The other girl with me said the same thing. By the secon day we were walking the halls together and sitting in the cafe visiting. Good luck hope you recover as well and fast as we have. I still talk to her and we are about the same place in our journey. Down 40 lbs in 2 months. I stalled after 1 week and lost nothing for 5-6 weeks. So don't freak out if you stall pretty quick but it will come off. I have no problems with fluids and never did. I was drinking gulps at the hospital and never gotten sick. I went and had blood work done at 6 weeks and everything was great. You will love Miguel he is one of the nurses. Once again good luck and will see you on the losers bench.

    Juarez Mexico

I went to Juarez on 2/19/2011. We had no problems. We were picked up at the airport and taken straight to the hospital. They take you on what we would consider a interstate. I don't know what they call it. You are on very little bit of side roads and those roads lead right by the embassy so they are obviously safer then other areas. We never left the hospital until it was time to go and we were picked up by the same driver and taken back across the border. The facility was A1. Dr. Rod and his staff were great. The only person I did not like is the guy that arranged the pickups but he was not the one that picked us up and the guy that drove the van was very nice. I'm sorry I have already forgotten names. I also went through belite weight. The other lady that was there her mother walked across the street to the mall and had no problems but I would not have done that. I just think you chances of getting hurt going straight to hospital and straight to airport are pretty slim. By the way I have lost 40lbs. I never had any problems. I had surgery on Saturday left the hospital on Tuesday and was back at work full time the following Monday. Could have went back sooner but had already taken off so why bother. Good luck.

    HCG diet?

HCG is the hormone you produce when you are pregnant. The theory behind it is if you don't eat when you are pregnant the body breaks down fat to feed the fetus. So you take the HCG then go on a 500 calory diet which for about 3 days you feel like your starving to death and then it's ok. You drop a lot of weight but you can only do it for 15-45 days and then you have to take a break for as long as you were on it. Otherwise your body catches on. look online you will find a lot of information on it.

    HCG diet?

I will say this about HCG. It was a miracle in the way it took the fat off. It knew exactly where I needed to lose and where I didn't. For example I have fat legs. I lost in the legs and not in the boobs. My calves went down several inches.

    HCG diet?

I did it last summer before the sleeve and lost 35lbs the first month. Then of course gained it back. Not saying it doesn't work for some but I don't intend to do drastic diets again. That is why I had the sleeve done. If you choose to do it I would recommend you get the drops(synthetic form) versus the real HCG which is injections. I was so moody on the injections I couldn't continue. Plus if I got hungry during the day there was nothing I could do. With the drops I could take more drops and the hunger went away.
