    Awkward moment

I'm so sorry for dragging this post back up but I JUST saw it (way to go Renee for not reading ALL the threads on the forum lol). I plan to tell people that my family runs a drug cartel and that I just found out that speed does wonders for my metabolism. Seriously though, WHY would anyone have so little manners as to question you when you're doing good things for your body? Jealous much?! gah, I wanna go back in time and be with you so I can punch them in the nose for you! *hugs* Renee`
  2. Update us Jen Jen! How are you doing? Renee` xoxo
  3. sweetie you absolutely need to go back to the E.R. Don't be too alarmed with the high blood pressure, the body does that when it's in pain, mine has always been low but soared up there when I first got sick with fibro, due to all the pain I was in. You are probably very dehydrated, not getting in any Protein at all (are you drinking Protein shakes or anything?) and possibly suffering from malnutrition because of lack of nutrients. Please please go back and make them treat you! Tell them you want to see a patient advocate NOW and don't let them tell you no, you absolutely have that right! Renee
  4. Most Drs call the honeymoon period the first 4 - 6 months. That's when the weight just melts away almost effortlessly. You absolutely will keep losing if you're doing the right things and from what I've read it sounds like you have been, it just slows down. Did you read the bottom of Dr. Aceves' page where it says approx. 96% of excess weight will be lost during the first 12 months? Don't worry, you'll do it. About it being harder to lose weight after a weight gain, I was just talking about this with Gabby this morning and she said it's mostly because people are the most diligent right after the surgery and then as time goes on, they slip up. They always will have the tool though, but they have to make the decision to get back to the basics and kick start it in again and thats hard for some people to to, get back in that mindset. Renee`
  5. Price for VSG for the month of May is $8750.00 with Dr. Aceves!!! Either way, good luck on your decision and glad you've decided to post! lol
  6. Dehydration will make you feel horrible, sip sip sip and get all your Protein in, even if you have to choke down nasty stuff, you'll feel better afterward. Really from everything I've read, just hang in there and don't scale watch. It gets a whole lot better as you go along! xoxo Renee`
  7. Make sure you're getting all your Protein in, that will stall weight loss. The more protein you take in the faster and healthier you'll lose the weight. My friend bought me tons of New whey, 3.5 oz of liquid and like 42 grams of protein. 2 of those a day and you're rockin. Renee`

    Recovery House Shared Room

I don't blame you at all for not wanting to share a room with a stranger. I wouldn't do it either, but I'm a chicken lol Renee`
  9. If it were me, I'd get my money back and find someone else. It sounds to me like he maybe doesn't know what he's doing with the sleeve and therefore leery of doing the surgery. RUN! I'd find another Dr. just my 2 cents. Renee`
  10. Actually I saw the humor more than you know. I just blogged about silly putty cheeks earlier this morning / last night. Seems like we think alot alike. I would share more, but I don't want to be accused of hijacking your thread. Not that you made this comment, but someone did so I try to stay silent now. Renee`
  11. I will never understand this. I want so much to have my health back and my life that I don't give two shits about baggy skin. I'm not the same person I was before I got so sick, so maybe that's why, but I'll be glad to have my life to share with my kids for many more years to come. Jump on me all you want, it's happened before, but this kind of post is exactly what I blogged about this morning. btw, the more protein you get in the more weight you'll lose, the more water you get in, the less baggy your skin will be. It takes about 2 years for the skin to re-attach itself after major weight loss to the fascia so who knows, you maybe just look great after all and I guess as a bonus you'll have a longer life. Blogging it all

Surgery date May 25 with Dr. Aceves! I can't WAIT to get there and get on the road to HEALTH and longevity! I don't care if I'm pudgy or not as long as I'm healthy...that's my goal Renee`
  13. From what I've read all over, you're supposed to do liquid, protein THEN carbs if you still have room. According to most, you won't have much room after the protein.

    renal failure

I would want other sources besides wikipedia. It's not always accurate and yes, I have first hand knowledge of the lies that can be posted there. Uncool.
  15. oh man Michelle, you should have put this in the pre-op to make sure everyone can see it. I know almost everyone has this question, it's a good one! Renee`

    Blogging it all

To me it's about becoming healthy. I don't care really about how thin I get, in fact I'd still like a little flesh on me to fall back on if I ever get sick. I want to be the absolute best I can be and I'd love to be able to get off all these meds! Thanks for all the encouragement! xoxo Renee`

    Negative WLS peers

I think sometimes the people that have already had wls vs those of us that haven't yet had it is sometimes bad. I have no idea why, but I've met with alot of negativity and I just quietly walk away. To be honesty, its not worth my time or energy and I'm not interested in a pissing contest or a "my labor pains were worse than yours!" bs stories. I'm here because I'm fat and I'm looking for answers. Hold your head high girl, don't let anyone or anything get you down, you know what to do to get your body healthy, just do it. People love to rain on a parade for some reason, maybe they have nothing better to do. Rise above it and them. *hugs* Renee`
  18. Actually I'd like to know who the surgeon is, just in case others are considering going there, myself included. I think it would help more in our continual research to find the best surgeon we can afford. just my thoughts. Feeling any better today?

    High Protein and Low Carb

I wouldn't make it. I'm planning my trip to mexico as we speak. My best friend (Asia Carrera) adopted me as her sister years ago and has set up a donation site for me so with her help, I'll be able to get my surgery. I'm blogging all about it, the good, the bad, the ugly and eventually the ugly side of people because that always comes doesn't it? Thanks for your reply and your honesty. I wish you luck and good health in your journey. Renee`
  20. I am absolutely heartbroken right now. I was in Utah and Asia looked up the property value, there is no way I can have the surgery now, life saving or not. It's very hard to realize that your life is worth so little and it comes down to money. Asia tried everything to get me to stop crying, resorting finally to smashing a plunger against my ass cheek and my son yanked me backwards. crazies.

  21. I shared with everyone not to make anyone feel sorry for me or to say that's why I got fat, I shared to let you all know we're all in the same boat, and it should be a safe one. I'll just quietly go away now. Seriously, I apologize for thread stealing and sharing. I would have done it sooner, but I was out of town. It's taken care of.
  22. Ok so I feel confident and comfortable with my decision to go with Dr. Aceves, from all reports (or the vast majority) he's a brilliant and caring surgeon. I read read read, here and on OH and to be honest, I'm so dang scared! I am 99% sure I want the vsg, but then I read how the DS is so superior, but why would that be? I honestly wouldn't want to go through the dumping syndrome thing like some do or have diarrhea (I have ibs already! why would I wanna poo more?!) all the time or suffer from malnutrition or have my blood drawn every couple of months cause to be honest, I'm totally needle phobic. Yeah, I'm a sissy, stand in line to smack me! I worry about the after-care here in the US to be honest. I'm totally trusting of Dr. Aceves, but I want to move in with him for a while during recovery, just to be sure I'm ok and he's close by LOL How many of you ended up in the E.R. after your surgery? A week, two weeks, even a month or two down the road. OR had to put in an urgent call to your surgeon? See, I wouldn't be able to do that because he'd be a 6 hour drive away. I'm sick and tired of being fat and I know that surgery is my last ditch effort to get healthy. Ok, brain knows this. My tummy is fighting back and saying not to throw it away, that it's never done anything wrong that maybe my brain should be removed, it's all it's fault. My brain of course is rolling its eyes and pointing the finger at my tummy. I guess I'm just scared which is normal, but I totally don't want to be someone that thinks every little pain is VSG related and zooms over to the nearest E.R. (which could totally happen because I think maybe I'm a hypochondriac now LOL). On the other hand I don't want to be one of the ones that think it's not going to happen to me and so shut up and deal with agony and end up dead on the floor cause I got a leak or ruptured something and poo poo'ed it and didn't go to the hospital in time. Was everyone else as bat-sh!t crazy as I am right now?! I don't wanna end up being dehydrated and in the hospital cause I can't sip sip sip, all I can do is guzzle guzzle guzzle HEAVE! Mkay and now everyone knows how crazy I am Renee`
  23. I have to chime in here, I've researched many many Drs here in the US and most are less qualified than Dr. Aceves. I live in Las Vegas (can you say WORST healthcare in the nation? A nurse at a local hospital told me that!) and wouldn't trust a surgeon here with my stomach or my life. I'm going to Dr. Aceves. Yes, he's more money, yes it'll take me more time to get it or save it but I know I'll be in the best hands possible, Mexico, United States or Jupiter, he's the best I've found. The only other Drs I was looking into were Ungston and Joya.
  24. It IS still major surgery, Apple-saucey, but it's much easier, less painful, less risk of complications and faster recovery time done lap. I can understand his concerns. They will have you sign a consent form before you go in for surgery, stating that if they run into problems and for some reason can't do it lap, that they have your permission to do it open.
  25. holybananas, that's quite a few. I don't think I'd want to be his last patient of the day, just in case he didn't wanna be late for a golf game or something. All kidding aside though, I mean, surgeons get tired and burnt out and worn out too, right? Are you SURE about this? Like 100% sure? I'm kinda wanting to reach through the monitor right now and tug you back LOL Renee`
